The James Monroe High School Athletic Mission Statement Dear Parents/Guardians of Student Athletes, Another new school year is rapidly approaching! August means our fall athletic programs begin, and our students will once again be practicing. One can imagine the whistles blowing, athletes huffing and puffing, officials preparing, and the excitement building as another year of athletics at The James Monroe High School approaches. The attached newsletter is full of important information regarding each fall sport. Please take the time to read and to discuss with your child the athletic options availa- ble and to stress the importance of good sportsmanship. In addition to game schedules and directions to competing schools, the newsletter contains the names of the head coaches and their assistants. We have included their contact information should you have a question that is not addressed in the newsletter. The James Monroe is a member of the Virginia High School League. Starting in the Fall of 2013 the V.H.S.L. has reclassified all member schools into six classes. The James Monroe High School is in the 3A East Classification. At the conclusion of regular season play, our student athletes will compete in Conference 27 which includes the following schools: Brentsville, Culpeper, The James Monroe, Kettle Fun, Manassas Park, and Spotsylvania. We invite each student to be a part of an athletic team. We take pride in creating an enjoyable, yet challenging environment for our student athletes and expect them to present themselves as dedicated athletes who are proud to wear the black and orange. Athletes are expected to excel on the field of play and in the classroom. We work with the athletes to build self-confidence and to develop an atti- tude that conveys excellent sportsmanship skills and an overall appreciation for learning. All student athletes are expected to maintain at least a 2.0 GPA throughout the entire school year. James Monroe is an excellent high school. We look forward to your help and support. It is our goal to keep our academic and athletic performances the best in the area. We hope to see you in August. Sincerely, Mary Crismon Student Activities Director The James Monroe High School Athletic Mission Statement The mission of The James Monroe High School Athletic Department is to provide an ath- letic and extracurricular program that instills strong values of discipline, sportsmanship, integrity, leadership, and social responsibility; to promote ethnic and cultural diversity within our athletic and extracurricular programs; and to make our programs an endur- ing source of pride for students, alumni, and the community. • 2012-2013 Annual Report to the Community 1 Who We Are
The President’s Message At Germanna Community College, we know we must not waste our greatest resource--the potential of all of the people in our communities. That potential lies not only in the minds of the young, but in the untapped abilities of workers who must be retrained especially in fields where there will be high-wage jobs. An educated workforce creates a better economy for us all, translating into higher pay for local people and a better quality of life for their families, helping existing businesses be more profitable, attracting new employers from outside the area and helping to spawn start-up companies. An educated community makes for better citizens and brighter futures for all. With your support, Germanna will continue to expand to meet our communities’ needs. With your support, we will move forward with plans for a permanent campus in Stafford County and continue to seek ways to better serve Caroline and Madison County residents. With your support, we will continue to expand our Fredericksburg Campus in Spotsylvania, to grow our respected nursing program at our Locust Grove Campus in Orange County, offer new programs at our Daniel echnologyT Center in Culpeper and offer classes at Dahlgren. “Let us think of Germanna is working hard to respond quickly to provide students with the education as the knowledge, skills and attitude that lead to jobs that pay well and give local companies a competitive edge in a challenging global market. means of developing Nearly 80 percent of Germanna students remain in our area after our greatest abilities, completing their college work, investing the skills they’ve learned in their local communities.
