The principal food of all three species is invertebrates, and more rarely fish, which depends on the type of habitat, part of the year, as well as the morphological characteristics of species. According to the von Bertalanffy growth model, size at age is specific for the region, but due to its disadvantages it is necessary to test other growth models. Executive Summary Aim Environmental assessment of hydropower facilities commonly includes means of fish assem- blage impact metrics, as e.g. injuries or mortality. However, this hardly allows for conclusion at the population or community level. To overcome this significant knowledge gap and to enable more efficient assessments, this task aimed in developing a fish species classification system according to their species-specific sensitivity against mortality. As one result, most sensitive fish species were identified as suitable candidates for in depth population effects and impact studies. Another objective was providing the biological and autecological baseline for developing a fish population hazard index for the European fish fauna. Methods The literature has been extensively reviewed and analysed for life history traits of fish providing resilience against and recovery from natural disturbances. The concept behind is that species used to cope with high natural mortality have evolved buffer mechanisms against, which might also foster recovery from human induced disturbances. -

Yer seçimi çalışması tamamlanan ve Şubat 2007’de hizmete giren Hava Kalitesi Ölçüm İstasyonu ile yapılacak sürekli ölçümlerle, havadaki SO2 (kükürtdioksit) ve partikül madde (toz) miktarı ölçülerek ve gerekli tedbirlerin zaman kaybetmeden alınması sağlanmaktadır. Ergene Nehri kirliliğinin izleme ve kontrol çalışmaları kapsamında; her yıl nehrin ilimize giriş ve çıkış noktalarından su numuneleri alınarak, sonuçları izlenmektedir. -

Abstract Pomphorhynchus tereticollis is a recently resurrected parasite species that spans the UK and continental Europe. The parasite is the only Pomphorhynchus spp in the UK and has been researched since the early 1970’s. The species has an indirect life cycle which uses a Gammarus spp as an intermediate host and cyprinids and salmonids as final hosts although the main hosts are Squalis cephalus (S. -

Nickol 9.1 Introduction In practice, epizootiology deals with how parasites spread through host populations, how rapidly the spread occurs and whether or not epizootics result. Prevalence, incidence, factors that permit establishment ofinfection, host response to infection, parasite fecundity and methods of transfer are, therefore, aspects of epizootiology. Indeed, most aspects of a parasite could be related in sorne way to epizootiology, but many ofthese topics are best considered in other contexts. General patterns of transmission, adaptations that facilitate transmission, establishment of infection and occurrence of epizootics are discussed in this chapter. When life cycles are unknown, little progress can be made in under standing the epizootiological aspects ofany group ofparasites. -

The endopeptidases, cathepsins D (CatD) supported by cathepsin L (CatL) and legumain (AE), are responsible for primary cleavage of hemoglobin. The production of secondary small fragments is dominated by endopeptidase activity of cathepsin B (CatB). The exopeptidases act on the peptides released by the action of the endopeptidases through carboxy-dipeptidase activity of CatB and amino-dipeptidase activity of cathepsin C (CatC). The monopeptidases including serine carboxypeptidase (SCP) and leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) might participate in the liberation of free amino acids. The enzymes are colour-coded according to membership in the AA clan aspartic peptidases (green), the CD clan cysteine peptidases (blue), the CA clan (papain-type) cysteine peptidases (red), and serine and metallo peptidases (black). The toxic heme moiety forms aggregates that accumulate inside the hemosome, a specialized organelle of the digestive cell.
