24th SPARC SSG Meeting Harnack House, Berlin, Germany 1 November – 4 November 31 October - 1 November – WCRP/SPARC Workshop "Challenges for Climate Science - Synergies between SPARC and the WCRP Grand Challenges" 1 November - 4 November – 24th SPARC SSG Meeting Ground Transportation from Tegel Airport to Harnack House Take bus 109 or X9 in the direction of “Zoologischer Garten”. Change at “Jakob-Kaiser-Platz” to underground line U7 in the direction of “Rudow”. Change again at “Fehrbelliner Platz” to underground line U3 in the direction of “Krumme Lanke” and get off at “Thielplatz”. Leave the underground station walking in the direction of travel and use the left exit. You will find Harnack House (Ihnestrasse 16-20) at a distance of approx. 100 meters on the right-hand side. Find other transport connections on the local transport webpage www.bvg.de/en/ A ticket valid for two hours (AB) costs EUR 2.70 and the trip to Thielplatz as described above will take about 35 minutes. Tickets can be bought at a counter at the airport, at a machine at the bus stop or from the bus driver. Depending on the time of day a taxi ride is likely to take more than 30 minutes and will cost from 30 EUR upwards. Ground Transportation from Schönefeld Airport to Harnack House Take bus X7 in the direction of “Rudow”. Change at “Rudow” (end of the line) to underground line U7 in the direction of “Rathaus Spandau”. Change again at “Fehrbelliner Platz” to underground line U3 in the direction of “Krumme Lanke” and get off at “Thielplatz”. Leave the underground station walking in the direction of travel and use the left exit. You will find Harnack House (Ihnestrasse 16-20, Berlin-Dahlem) at a distance of approx. 100 meters on the right-hand side. Find other transport connections on the local transport webpage www.bvg.de/en/ The trip to Thielplatz will take about an hour. A ticket valid for two hours (ABC) costs EUR 3.30. Tickets can be bought at a counter at the airport, at a machine at the bus stop or from the bus driver. Depending on the time of day a taxi ride will take at least 40 minutes and will cost from 45 EUR upwards. How to get to the Climate Analytics Berlin office Our office is located at Friedrichstraße 231, 10969 Berlin, Germany, and can be accessed through the inner courtyard – entrance B. Our offices are located on the second and third floor – we recommend visiting the second floor office first, as the majority of our team is based there. The closest U-Bahn Stations are Kochstraße and Hallesches Tor. From there it’s a 5 minute walK to the office. Below is a route description from the various points you might be entering Berlin. Maps for walKing routes are provided from page 2. From airport Tegel Take the bus TXL towards Alexanderplatz until the station Hauptbahnhof. See the steps below on how to continue from there. From the central station (Hauptbahnhof) You have two options: 1) Take the bus M41 towards Sonnenallee/Baumschulenstraße or Hermannplatz. Get off at the station Willy-Brandt-Haus (this leg of the journey taKes approximately 12 minutes) and from there it’s a 400 meter walK to our office In total this should taKe about 20 minutes. 2) Take the S7 (direction Ahrensfelde), S75 (direction Wartenberg) or S5 (direction Strausberg Nord) to Friedrichstraße.
