GHRAMH6 Abstract Fungus-growing termites are important pests for buildings and agriculture in Asia and Africa. This study assessed four insecticides (fipronil 5% SC, imidacloprid 20 SL, thiamethoxam 25 WG and chlorfenapyr 360 SC) for their toxicity and repellency to the fungus-growing termite, Odontotermes obesus (Rambur, 1842) (Blattodea: Termitidae: Macrotermitinae). The study was conducted at Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan from September-October, 2016 and was undertaken to identify effective termiticides along with their optimal concentrations for future use in baits and localized treatments. The chemicals assessed were differed significantly in their toxicity. Chlorfenapyr and thiamethoxam were more toxic and faster acting with lower LC50 and LT50 values than imidacloprid and fipronil. The four chemicals were statistically similar at each concentration. Odontotermes obesus was not repelled by 0-20 mg/l chlorfenapyr, 0-40 mg/l fipronil, 0-80 mg/l imidacloprid or 0-20 mg/l thiamethoxam. These results suggest that chlorfenapyr, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam may be used as soil termiticides, whereas fipronil can be used both as soil termiticide and in termite baiting programs. Keywords: Fungus-growing termites, neurotoxins, soil treatment, termite baiting Öz Mantar yetiştiren termitler, Asya ve Afrika'daki tarımsal bölgelerin ve binaların önemli zararlılarıdır. Bu çalışmada, dört farklı insektisitin (fipronil 5% SC, imidacloprid 20 SL, thiamethoxam 25 WG ve chlorfenapyr 360 SC) mantar yetiştirici termit, Odontotermes obesus (Rambur, 1842) (Blattodea: Termitidae: Macrotermitinae) üzerindeki zehir ve kaçırıcı etkileri değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışma, yemlerin ve yerel uygulamaların gelecekteki kullanımları için etkili termisitlerin belirlenmesi ve bunların optimal dozlarının saptanması amacıyla Eylül-Ekim 2016'da Pakistan’ın Dera Ghazi Khan şehrindeki Ghazi Üniversitesi’nde yürütülmüştür. Değerlendirilen kimyasalların zehirliliklerinde önemli farklılıklar görülmüştür. Chlorfenapyr ve thiamethoxam daha düşük LC50 ve LT50 değerleri ile daha fazla zehirli ve daha etkili olurken; imidacloprid ve fipronil daha yüksek LC50 ve LT50 değerleri ile nispeten daha az zehirli ve daha az etkili olarak tespit edilmiştir. Dört kimyasal da istatistiksel olarak her bir dozda birbirleriyle eşit miktarda bulunmuştur. Odontotermes obesus için kaçırıcı olmayan veya çok az kaçırıcılık gösteren chlorfenapyrin 0-20 mg/l dozları, fipronilin 0-40 mg/l dozları, imidacloprid 0-80 mg/l dozları ve thiamethoxamın 0-20 mg/l dozlarında herhangi bir tercih edilmeme durumu görülmemiştir. Larvae of some species are par- ticularly harmful to agricultural and silvicultural regions worldwide. Consequently, for years intense efforts have been carried out to control them through chemical, biological, and cultural methods (LIBURD et al. 2000; HOBALLAH et al. 2004; TOPRAK & GÜRKAN 2005). In the field, noctuid control is often carried out by parasitoid wasps (CHO et al. 2006). The equipment used was Petridish, Olympus brand optical microscope (CX21FS1), Thermometer, Gauze, Tissue, Jars, Knives, Sterile Cotton, Aluminum foil and stationery. The materials used are termite pests, pine wood. The method used is the triple mark recapture technique (Marini & Ferrari 1998). The results of the observation show that the termites of Macrotermesgilvus damage cocoa plants in Bandar Baru District, Pidie Jaya Regency. Cocoa plants that are not treated well experience a higher level of damage than those that are well cared for. Growth and development of M. gilvus colonies increased in habitats that were not sanitized by weeds and organic matter waste. A cladistic analysis of the Polysphincta genus-group (¼ the ‘Polysphinctini’ of authors), a clade of koinobiont ectoparasitoids of spiders, was undertaken using ninety-six characters for seventy-seven taxa (sixty-five ingroup and twelve outgroup). The genus-group is monophyletic, nested within the Ephialtini as (Iseropus (Gregopimpla (Tromatobia ((Zaglyptus þ Clistopyga) þ (Polysphincta genus- group))))). Within the Polysphincta genus-group, the clade (Piogaster þ Inbioia)is sister-lineage to all other genera. The cosmopolitan genus Zabrachypus is nonmono- phyletic, and has been subdivided into a monophyletic Nearctic/Western Palaearctic Zabrachypus s.str. and an Eastern Palaearctic Brachyzapus gen.n., comprising B. nik- koensis (Uchida) comb.n., B. tenuiabdominalis (Uchida) comb.n. and B. unicarinatus (Uchida & Momoi) comb.n. An Afrotropical species placed in Zabrachypus, Z. curvi- cauda (Seyrig), belongs to Schizopyga comb.n. The monophyly of the cosmopolitan genus Dreisbachia is equivocal, and we consider that species assigned to it are best placed in an expanded Schizopyga (syn.n.). The monobasic Afrotropical genus Afrosphincta is also a synonym of Schizopyga (syn.n.). The newly delimited Schizopyga is the sister- lineage of Brachyzapus, and these two genera form the sister-lineage of Zabrachypus s.str. as the monophyletic clade (Zabrachypus þ (Schizopyga þ Brachyzapus)).

This study reports a novel perspective on the application of insect-based compounds to repel and eradicate other insects in a controlled environment. In this work, defense fuid was shown to be a repellent and insecticide against termites and cockroaches and was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC– MS). Globitermes sulphureus extract at 20 mg/ml showed the highest repellency for seven days against Macrotermes gilvus and for thirty days against Periplaneta americana. In terms of toxicity, G. sulphureus extract had a low LC50 compared to M. carbonarius extract against M. gilvus. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of the M. carbonarius extract indicated the presence of six insecticidal and two repellent compounds in the extract, whereas the G. sulphureus extract contained fve insecticidal and three repellent compounds. The most obvious fnding was that G. sulphureus defense fuid had higher potential as a natural repellent and termiticide than the M. carbonarius extract. Both defense fuids can play a role as alternatives in the search for new, sustainable, natural repellents and termiticides. Our results demonstrate the potential use of termite defense fuid for pest management, providing repellent and insecticidal activities comparable to those of other green repellent and termiticidal commercial products. A termite infestation could be silent, but termites are known as destructive urban pests that cause structural damage by infesting wooden and timber structures, leading to economic loss.

The study provides a new and updated overview of the Slovakian ichneumonid fauna after 28 years. So far over 750 species of Ichneumonidae have been reported from Slovakia, including around 150 species in the subfamily Cryptinae. The right forewings from the ten species were used as the research object, and seventeen landmarks in environment were selected for analysis. Two related steps including geometric morphometric analysis and multivariate statistical analysis were carried out. In the first step, Procrustes superimposition was applied to the data of the seventeen environmental landmarks by removing nonshape variation from the landmark coordinates. Using relative warp analysis, relative warp figures and a matrix of relative warp scores were obtained. In the second step, ecological component analysis of the Procrustes- transformed data set was implemented, and three dimensional distribution figures for the ten species of Sphingidae were described on the basis of the first three components. Discriminant analysis was carried out on the relative warp scores matrix, and accuracy of original and cross-validation tests achieved 100% and 99.7%, respectively. The results indicate that geometric morphometric analysis may be used to accurately identify the ten species of Sphingidae, and their taxonomy can be achieved using relative warp figures.
