Albright College Theatre Department & Domino Players’ 2020-21 Production C’MON AMERICA, OR, HINDSIGHT IS

20/20written and directed by Matt Fotis

8 P.M. 8 P.M. OCT. 30-31 NOV. 1 2 P.M. NOV. 2 via Zoom & YouTube DIRECTOR’S NOTES

Four years ago, we did a sketch comedy revue about the 2016 election, “Make Democracy Great Again, or, The Most Important Election of Our Lifetime... That Is Until the Next One.” Well, here we are at the “next one,” and it’s pretty darn important too. This election is also pretty darn different. Most people decided who to vote for (or against) months or even years ago. So, we decided this show would not have any sketches featuring or . Why? Because there’s nothing new to say about them, but more importantly, this election is bigger than them. Our driving philosophy throughout the production process was that one person didn’t get us into this mess, and one person alone is not going to get us out. This election is about us.

This show is also different than four years ago because we are living in the midst of a global pandemic (this might be news to some of you — wear a mask!). Not only are you watching the show on Zoom or YouTube, but we carried out the entire rehearsal and planning process online. Look, we all hate Zoom (not a sponsor, could be), but it did give us some unique opportunities to involve several alumni, pushed us to develop new skills and modes of creation, and gave people outside of Reading a chance to see the show. The end result is a completely original sketch comedy revue, delivered in a way I would have never imagined, about an election that will shape the next generation. So, what do you say? C’mon America!
