4 Borussia Dortmund - Galatasaray AŞ Tuesday 4 November 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit BVB Stadion Dortmund, Dortmund Match background

Borussia Dortmund have taken control of Group D with three wins but despite their 4-0 triumph in Istanbul they will be aware that Germany has become a happy hunting ground for Galatasaray AŞ. • Two early Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goals eased BVB to victory on matchday three, Marco Reus and Adrián Ramos completing the scoring. Previous meetings • Galatasaray came out on top when the sides met in the fourth round of the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup, winning 2-0 away ahead of a 0-0 home draw. • The lineups at the BVB Stadion on 2 March 2000 were: Dortmund: Lehmann, Baumann, Stević, Kohler, Nijhuis, But, Leonardo, Ricken, Evanilson (Reina 31), Bobic, Ikpeba. Galatasaray: Taffarel, Bülent, Alberto, Okan (Hasan 81), Ergün, Emre, Arif (Mandinga 86), Suat, Hagi (Ahmet 85), Ümit Davala, Hakan Şükür. • Hakan Şükür and Gheorghe Hagi scored in Dortmund to give Galatasaray a platform to progress in the competition and it eventually led them to the winners' podium. In the Copenhagen final, Galatasaray beat Arsenal FC 4-1 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes, becoming the first Turkish team to win a UEFA competition. • The teams were also paired in the 1997/98 UEFA Champions League group stage, Dortmund winning 1-0 in Istanbul and 4-1 at home. Match background Dortmund • Winners in 1996/97 and runners-up two seasons ago, Dortmund are in their tenth group stage campaign. • Last season they reached the quarter-finals, a 2-0 second-leg home win over Real Madrid CF not enough to overturn a 3-0 away defeat. • BVB beat Beşiktaş JK 3-1 on aggregate in the 1989/90 European Cup Winners' Cup first round. • Dortmund beat Arsenal 2-0 on matchday one before a 3-0 win at Anderlecht, Ciro Immobile scoring in both matches. Galatasaray • Galatasaray have an impressive record in Germany, winning as many games (five) as they have lost, with the other three fixtures ending in draws. • Galatasaray have been triumphant in four of their last six visits to face opposition, losing only once. • Cimbom have lost their last four UEFA Champions League away games, and five of the last six. The other, at Juventus on matchday two last season, ended 2-2. • The Süper Lig runners-up are in their 13th group stage campaign and their third in succession, having missed out in the five previous seasons. • On matchday one Burak Yılmaz struck in added time to rescue a point at home to Anderlecht. Two weeks later Galatasaray lost 4-1 at Arsenal, Burak on target from the penalty spot. Coach and player links • Five Galatasaray players were born in Germany: Hamit Altıntop (Gelsenkirchen), Hakan Balta (Berlin), Tarık Çamdal and Furkan Özçal (Munich) and Yasin Öztekin (Dortmund). • There are three players in the Dortmund squad of Turkish descent: Nuri Şahin, İlkay Gündoğan and Burak Çamoğlu. • Yasin played for Dortmund's reserve side between 2006 and 2011 and worked under Jürgen Klopp. He made only one substitute appearance for the senior team, a 1-1 draw with Bayer 04 Leverkusen on 31 January 2009. • During his time at FC Schalke 04 and FC Bayern München, Hamit faced Dortmund 13 times in the Bundesliga. In his first game against BVB he scored both Schalke goals in a 2-2 draw on 2 August 2003. • Nuri Şahin won his first senior cap for Turkey in a friendly against Germany on 8 October 2005, scoring the winner only three minutes after coming off the bench in a 2-1 triumph. Aged 17 years 32 days, he was his country's second youngest international. • Ciro Immobile was included in Italy's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad by coach Cesare Prandelli. • The following have been team-mates: Aurélien Chedjou & Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (LOSC Lille, 2009/10); Hamit Altıntop & Nuri Şahin (Real Madrid CF, 2011/12);

5 Borussia Dortmund - Galatasaray AŞ Tuesday 4 November 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit BVB Stadion Dortmund, Dortmund Felipe Melo & Ciro Immobile (Juventus, 2009/10); Yasin Öztekin & Roman Weidenfeller, Neven Subotić, Nuri Şahin (Dortmund, 2008/09); Yasin Öztekin & Marcel Schmelzer (Dortmund II, 2007-09); Yasin Öztekin & Sven Bender, Sebastian Kehl (Dortmund II, 2008/09); Yasin Öztekin & Nuri Şahin (Dortmund II, 2006/07). Match facts Dortmund • The last time Dortmund started a UEFA Champions League group stage with three victories, in 1996/97, they went on to win the competition. • Having taken the lead on Saturday through Reus's header, Dortmund went down 2-1 at Bayern − their fifth successive Bundesliga defeat. It is their worst run of form since March/April 2000, when they lost six in a row. • The Bayern reverse was the Schwarzgelben's seventh in ten league fixtures this term, the same as they lost in the whole of 2013/14. • Three days after triumphing in Istanbul, Dortmund were beaten 1-0 at home by Hannover 96. • Klopp's charges eased into the German Cup round of 16 on 28 October courtesy of a 3-0 win at second-tier FC St Pauli. • Oliver Kirch (out since 19 August, thigh) is back in training, as is Jakub Błaszczykowski, who, having been sidelined with a knee injury since January, suffered a thigh strain in September. • Schmelzer was ruled out for around four weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand against Hamburger SV on 4 October. Nuri Şahin underwent knee surgery on 3 September. • Mats Hummels is expected to be out for three weeks after a right ankle injury forced his half-time withdrawal against Bayern. Galatasaray • Blerim Dzemaili and Felipe Melo are both a booking away from a suspension after picking up yellow cards on matchdays one and two. • Galatasaray conceded four goals in a game for the third time this season when they lost 4-0 at İstanbul BB SK on 26 October. • Cimbom returned to winning ways on Friday, defeating Kasımpaşa AŞ 2-1 at home. Substitute Umut Bulut's added- time goal, his first for Galatasaray this term, proved decisive. • Felipe Melo was substituted in the first half of the İstanbul BB match with a left thigh strain and missed the visit of Kasımpaşa, although he trained with the team on Sunday. • Aydın Yılmaz sustained a foot injury while playing for Galatasaray's Under-21 side on 25 October.

8 Borussia Dortmund - Galatasaray AŞ Tuesday 4 November 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit BVB Stadion Dortmund, Dortmund Head coach Jürgen Klopp Date of birth: 16 June 1967 Nationality: German Playing career: SV Glatten, TuS Ergenzingen, 1. FC Pforzheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Viktoria Sindlingen, Rot-Weiss Frankfurt, 1. FSV Mainz 05 Coaching career: 1. FSV Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund • Having spent his early career in the lower leagues and failed to break into Eintracht's first team, Klopp turned professional with Mainz, starting off as a striker before becoming a no-nonsense defender. Never played in the top flight but made 325 second-division appearances from 1990 to 2001, setting a club record by scoring 52 goals. • 'Kloppo', as he is known in Germany, was appointed Mainz's caretaker coach on 28 February 2001, helping the club avoid relegation to the third tier. Duly won a permanent contract and built Mainz into one of the strongest clubs in the 2. Bundesliga; narrowly missed out on promotion in 2002 and 2003, Mainz losing out to Eintracht by a single goal in the latter campaign. • Finally took Mainz into the top flight for the first time in 2004 and kept them in the Bundesliga until 2007, taking them into the 2005/06 UEFA Cup via the UEFA Fair Play ranking – they lost to eventual winners Sevilla FC in the first round. • After another promotion near-miss in 2007/08 Klopp – whose enthusiasm and passion, plus work as a TV pundit, have made him popular all over Germany – left for Dortmund. Took them to sixth in his first season, led them into the UEFA Europa League the next year and then, with a squad full of exciting young talent, oversaw league title wins in 2010/11 and 2011/12, adding the German Cup in the latter campaign. • Earned even greater admiration in the 2012/13 season as he steered Dortmund all the way to the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, where they lost to FC Bayern München. Dortmund reached another domestic cup final in 2014, but again came up short against Bayern. Cesare Prandelli Date of birth: 19 August 1957 Nationality: Italian Playing career: US Cremonese, Atalanta BC, Juventus Coaching career: Atalanta BC, US Lecce, Hellas Verona FC, AC Venezia, Parma FC, AS Roma, ACF Fiorentina, Italy, Galatasaray AŞ • Made his name as a promising coach in the prestigious youth system at Atalanta, the club where he finished his career as a midfielder in 1990, having earlier won three league titles with Juventus (1981, 1982, 1984). His six seasons in Turin also brought the 1983 Coppa Italia, the 1984 European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Champion Clubs' Cup a year later, though he struggled to earn a regular role. • Having impressed at Atalanta, Prandelli accepted the head coach position at Lecce in 1997 but resigned the following January. Then secured promotion to the top flight with both Verona and Venezia before further boosting his burgeoning reputation after moving to Parma in 2002. • In 2004 Prandelli took over at Roma but soon left as wife Manuela – who sadly died in 2007 – fell seriously ill. Went to Fiorentina in 2005, leading them to fourth place in his first term though they were subsequently stripped of their achievement for involvement in Italy's sporting fraud trial. • Prandelli guided the Viola to the 2007/08 UEFA Cup semi-finals and was awarded the 2008 Panchina d'Oro for best coach in Serie A. Steered the Florence outfit into the UEFA Champions League group stage in 2008/09 and the round of 16 a year later, before succeeding Marcello Lippi as Italy coach. • Took the Azzurri to the final of UEFA EURO 2012, where they lost 4-0 to Spain. Guided them to the 2014 FIFA World Cup but tendered his resignation after group stage elimination in Brazil, and subsequently succeeded fellow Italian Roberto Mancini at Galatasaray.
