They ail go to Fordham and they all have trouble packing for summer vacation. Should they really have to ship home their duck boots and down jackets, used only in the deepest snows of February? Or, their books, blankets, speakers, refrigerators or pots and pans? Neil Alexander, program coordinator of the Residence Halls Association thinks not. He presented a proposal to the Office of Residential Life suggesting that the University build storage bins to be used during summer vacation. This is a very practical idea. As Fordham tries to attract students from outside the tri-state area, facilities must be upgraded to meet their needs. For a growing part of the Fordham com- munity, home is no longer just a subway ride away. With this in mind several sen ices must be developed to accommodate students outside the metropolitan area. Keep the dorms open OUT Spring Break. Although a week is a welcome vacation from school, many students cannot make the trip home because of travel expenses or committments in New York, such as a job. They are now forced to move in with friends for the break, or find other accommodations. Another suggestion to meet the I niversity's growing hometown geographic diversity is to increase the Infirmary facilities, a need already recognized in the University's self-study com- piled for Middle States. There are no beds in the Infirmary, sick students are told to return to their dorm rooms and rest there. by Edward J. McCarthy Jonathan Borofsky, after finishing graduate art studies at Yale in 1966, stopped making any kind of object altogether and became exclusively concerned with his own thoughts. He preferred to think about art, rather than make it. Like many artists who began their careers in the early 1970's, Borofsky sought alternatives to the imper- sonal and abstract aesthetics that were then dominating the art world. When he even- tually began creating objects, he followed the rule that the essence of art-making can only be discovered through an autobiographical exploration process of his thoughts and especially his dreams. The current exhibition, containing some 70 objects, at the Whitney Museum until March 10 is a retrospective of Jonathan "Thepure, linear formality of counting was his way of doing something and nothing at the same time. The Breakfast Club 77K? Breakfast Club assembles Emilio Estevez, Anthony-Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy as the jock, the brain, the rebel, the beauty, and the recluse who meet in High School detention.

On a cold, bleak, winter morning five students arrive at Sherman High School to spend their entire day in the school's library serving detention. All the students, seemingly very different, are actually very much the same. They abuse, hate and like, but they are able to relate to each other in an incredible film directed by John Hughes. Hughes, who also directed last year's Sixteen Candles, provides an excellent script for five of the most talented young actors and actresses on the movie scene today. The Breakfast Club gathers the five students, all strangers, and watches as they learn about each other and finally themselves. In between attacks of abusive mockery towards each other, the group eventually learns about each others troubles discussing peer pressure, family pressures and personal problems. Because of one-day dentention the five students become friends. The strong performance of the whole cast molds The Breakfast Club into a humorous and moving tale about attitudes towards others. St. John's captured the 400 yard freestyle relay by a score of 314:2-313:3 to secure their victory. Fordham swimmers Peter Ellard and Ed Gallo managed to qualify for the Easterns during the meet as they both excelled at their specialties. Ellard took the 100 yard breast- stroke and Gallo swam an excellent 21.5 to win the 50 yard free. Diver Chris Spearing, who has already qualified for the Eastern's, won both the 1M and 3M events and Bob Coakley captured two other firsts in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle. As well the Rams Medley relay team composed of Ellard, Rob Valdes Rodriguez, and freshmen Brian McKay and Steve Marcisz topped their personal best by over three seconds. In the women's meet the larger squad from St. John's proved to be too powerful. Fordham, who finished second in the Met Championships to St. John's two weekends ago, received strong performances from Susanna Patz, Erika Kaminsky, and Molly Weber in the diving events, along with a strong 219:17 in the 200 yard backstreke from Corrine Levinac.
