Filming has begun in Melbourne on a fourth season of the quirky ABC comedy/drama Please Like Me. Creator and star Josh Thomas will once again be joined by series regulars such as Thomas Ward, Hannah Gadsby, Debra Lawrence and David Roberts for the six episode run, which will air later this year. Thomas will direct half of the new series, with the remainder being handled by the show’s award-winning original director Matthew Saville. JCVD BACK IN THE RING FOR KICKBOXER Kickboxer Kickboxer Jean-Claude Van Damme will star in the rebooted Kickboxer franchise – although it doesn’t look as if he will be reprising his character from the original 1989 rental smash. Kickboxer: Vengeance is currently in post-production and stars action superstars David Bautista and Gina Carano. The Muscles from Brussels will play a character called Master Durand and will reprise the role in Kickboxer: Retaliation, which reportedly began shooting earlier this year. Neither movie has been scheduled for release here yet but Aussie fans will get the chance to see Van Damme in the ﬂ esh later this month. An Evening With Jean-Claude Van Damme – Unplugged & Unscripted! will see the veteran video star chatting about his career, his movies and the stars he has worked with, and will also include an audience Q&A. “I love Australia and Australians,” says Van Damme. “It’s an amazing country and I can’t wait to come back in August to meet my fans and make some new friends too. The tragic death of Anton Yelchin casts something of a shadow over this superb THRILLER chiller: it means it will attract more attention than it probably would have received otherwise, but the real reason you should see Green Room is that it is one the creepiest, nastiest and darkly funny thrillers you will get to see this year. Directed by Jeremy Saulnier, who brought a touching melancholy to the 2013 vigilante thriller Blue Ruin, the set-up ﬁ nds a young punk band under siege from a horde of Nazi skinheads after they accidentally witness a murder backstage at an isolated roadhouse. FAMILY remakes of its animated classics have been taken from fairytales (Malefi cent and Cinderella) and fantasy literature (Alice In Wonderland), so the transition has been fairly seamless. The Jungle Book, then, represents the studio’s biggest challenge to date in that it only features one human character, with the rest being animals. The good news is that Disney has passed with fl ying colours, thanks to the superb CGI animation and an all-star voice cast. The story doesn’t deviate too far from previous versions, with young man-cub Mowgli (Neel Sethi) embarking on a voyage of self discovery when he is forced to fl ee his jungle home to escape the wrath of the tiger Shere Khan, voiced with scary menace by Idris Elba.
