The pitch competition, open to all Summit attendees, will hold its finalist’s pitch event during happy hour on Sunday April 15th, where the top writers will pitch live to agents, producers and A-list screenwriters. Social hours and shared evening galas will bring Summit writers together with filmmakers and over 25,000 film enthusiasts and industry professionals attending the Atlanta Film Festival. Panels and Workshops topics will include: Writing the Television Pilot, A Television Showrunner panel presented by the Writers Guild Foundation, A Panel on What it Means to be a Diverse Executive, How to Take a Meeting, How to Secure and Work With an Agent/Manager, Producing Independent Film and returning attendee favorite The Failure Panel. The “Creator” track focuses on giving writers the tools to make their work come alive through short films, digital content and more. This track will also include the “Georgia Producers & Writers Connect” event, intended to foster relationships between writers and filmmakers in the Atlanta area and promote local development. There will also be programming dedicated to diversity on-screen and faith-based content, topics of great interest for Atlanta artists and beyond. The 2013 award marks the first time a screenwriting team has earned the honor. The USC Libraries will present the award to McMurtry and Ossana at the 25th-anniversary Scripter Award ceremony on Saturday, February 9, 2013. The Literary Achievement Award is an additional honor—distinct from the annual Scripter Award—that recognizes writers who have made significant, sustained contributions to the art of adaptation throughout their careers. USC Libraries Dean Catherine Quinlan and the Friends of the USC Libraries established the Scripter Literary Achievement Award in 2008. “We feel honored to receive the prestigious USC Libraries Scripter Literary Achievement Award, while well aware that we do so owing a debt to the many novelists and writers whose works we have adapted,” said Ossana and McMurtry of their selection.     Absorbing the Worlds of Others: Ruth Prawer Jhabvala’s Adapted Screenplays By Laura Fryer Submitted in fulfilment of the requirements of a PhD degree at De Montfort University, Leicester. Funded by Midlands 3 Cities and the Arts and Humanities Research Council. June 2020 i Abstract Despite being a prolific and well-decorated adapter and screenwriter, the screenplays of Ruth Prawer Jhabvala are largely overlooked in adaptation studies. This is likely, in part, because her life and career are characterised by the paradox of being an outsider on the inside: whether that be as a European writing in and about India, as a novelist in film or as a woman in industry. The aims of this thesis are threefold: to explore the reasons behind her neglect in criticism, to uncover her contributions to the film adaptations she worked on and to draw together the fields of screenwriting and adaptation studies. Surveying both existing academic studies in film history, screenwriting and adaptation in Chapter 1 -- as well as publicity materials in Chapter 2 -- reveals that screenwriting in general is on the periphery of considerations of film authorship. In Chapter 2, I employ Sandra Gilbert’s and Susan Gubar’s notions of ‘the madwoman in the attic’ and ‘the angel in the house’ to portrayals of screenwriters, arguing that Jhabvala purposely cultivates an impression of herself as the latter -- a submissive screenwriter, of no threat to patriarchal or directorial power -- to protect herself from any negative attention as the former. However, the archival materials examined in Chapter 3 which include screenplay drafts, reveal her to have made significant contributions to problem-solving, characterisation and tone.

Saranno costretti dalle circostanze, e dalla saggia e intrepida ragazzina, a allearsi per risolvere il caso di una ragazza scomparsa dopo aver girato un film porno. 'Due idioti che inciampano casualmente in questioni che non sanno gestire, ritrovandosi a scoperchiare una cospirazione di proporzioni gigantesche' secondo Black che li ha voluti per questa variazione sul tema della “buddy cop comedy”, un suo marchio di fabbrica già come sceneggiatore (Arma letale e L’ultimo boy-scout). A fare da sfondo a pasticci, scazzottate, misteriose sparizioni, la Hollywood Boulevard in piena decadenza piegata all’industria del porno.

Abstract I believe film has the power to transform people's lives and minds and to enlighten today's generation like any other medium. This is why I wanted to write my thesis about film distribution as it will determine the future of the industry itself. The way films are distributed, accessed and consumed will be critical in shaping our future entertainment culture and the way we approach content.
