Our observance of the Lord’s Day is held Eucharistic Adoration- Chapel in such high esteem that few other feasts replace it. Occasionally Adoración Eucarística - Capilla there is a feast—usually of one of the saints—in which the saving Mon-Fri 9 a.m. -3:45 p.m. power of God in Christ is so uniquely focused that the Roman rite Mass Times/Horas de Misa deems it worthy of celebration on the Lord’s Day. Today is such Masses in red will also be Live Streamed/ a feast. Yet some are surprised at the brevity of the dogma in its Transmisión por Internet entirety: “We pronounce, declare and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Saturday/Sab: 4 p.m. Sunday/Dom Virgin Mary having completed the course of her earthly life, was 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m. & 11 a.m., 1 p.m. En Español, 5 p.m. assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.” The Roman Catholic Monday - Saturday/Lun - Sab: 8:30 a.m. Church never defined any specifics or particulars about the event Holy Days/Días Festivos itself. It is not in the scriptures. There are no verifiable eyewitness 8:30 a.m., Noon & 7:00 p.m. (Bilingual) accounts. At its core, the dogma reveals in Mary the destiny of Sacrament of Reconciliation/ all mortal flesh, and reinforces our creedal belief in resurrection Sacramento de la Reconciliación of the body. This feast strengthens our faith, defined last week in Saturday 9-10 a.m. or by appointment Hebrews as the realization of things hoped for. We find, in Mary, Media hora antes de la Misa de la 1pm, sábados that realization of what we all hope for, what Paul today affirms: de 9 a 10 o por citas al 592-1949 “In Christ shall all be brought to life” (1 Corinthians 15:22). Your Inner Hermitage Try to keep a little hermitage in the center of your being, where you can continue your prayer even during a busy day. A simple prayer such as “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me a sinner” can give you much consolation and strength when you allow it to remain present in your inner hermitage. It is the way to let the Spirit of God pray in you. Henri Nouwen St. Agnes Parish 7 August 15, 2021

Stewardship is the grateful response of a Christian disciple who recognizes “and receives God’s gifts and shares these gifts in love of God and neighbor. –Diocese of Wichita ” OUR FIRST CHRISTIAN STEWARD: THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

This Sunday (August,15) we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption; the day we recall Our Blessed Mother being assumed into heaven and crowned queen. In the Gospel reading on this day, we hear proclaimed once again the Canticle of Mary, recorded in the Gospel of Luke (1:46-55). It is the Virgin Mary’s song of joy in response to her cousin Elizabeth’s greeting (Luke 1: 41-45) and summarizes Mary’s deep faith and trust in God. This joyous song is also known as the Magnificat, is a beautiful stewardship prayer used by the Church every day since the fifth century. It is a hymn at Evening Prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours. As a young woman, humble and poor, Mary becomes an interpreter of God’s plan of salvation, she reveals to us the fundamentals of good stewardship, and she becomes a prophetic witness to social justice for all future generations who “will call me blessed” (Luke 1: 48). Mary was the first disciple, the first Christian steward of God’s plan. Take a few moments and pray this stewardship prayer. Consider its implications for your life. How do you magnify the Lord? How do you make God “bigger” in your day-to-day world? The Magnificat My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; for he has look with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations shall call me blessed; Because He who is mighty has done great things for me, and Holy is His Name; And His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him. He has shown might with His arm, He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart. He has put down the mighty from their thrones and has exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has given help to Israel, His servant, mindful of His mercy - Even as He spoke to our father - to Abraham and to his posterity forever.

Through your generosity, you are changing lives. St. Agnes Parish 9 August 15, 2021 A Call to Priesthood How do you know your calling in life? Are you listening to what God has to say to you? Andres Cordero, a member of our parish for more than ten years and part of the Spanish choir, answered God’s call and started the seminary this month. “It was a slow process and a big responsibility. I felt that the Lord had always shown me that this was the right path to take. Through prayer, I started to meditate on this change in my life, and I’m glad that I was able to respond to him.” said Andres about his discerning process. Andres was born in Ibague, Colombia and from childhood, was taught the Catholic faith by his grandparents. When he was 22 years old, he came with his mom Diana and his broth- er Jose to the United States. They became members of St. Agnes and Laura H. Padilla introduced them to the choir. Andres and his brother Jose loved music, and both graduated from college with music degrees. “I’m thankful that we had the opportunity to graduate from college here in the US with music degrees, and most importantly, that we are using our talents and music education for the service of the Church,” he added. Andres’ family is very happy for him, “They received my decision of being a seminarian as a gift from God, it was a feeling of joy and gratitude. They are pleased and proud of my decision; I have their total love and support.” he said. “In addition, I’d like to thank Deacon Roberto Landron, Father Luis Pacheco, Pastor Very Rev. Robert Kantor, Father Jose Del Olmo, Father Marcial Garcia, and Father Carlos Encinas for their support, guidance, and prayers through this process.” Let’s pray for Andres’ faith journey and God’s guidance on his path to priesthood.
