Etymology . The species is named after the Russian en­ tomologist, Dr. V.1. K UZNETSOV.

Diagnosis and variability. The new species di ffe rs from other species of the genus in mostly bl ack pleura and abdominal terga, one unpaired sursty lus in add ition to Fig. 3 - Oviscapt laterall y. Crootaertia kuznetsovi sp. 11. two pairs, long dorsa l setae on ventra l pair of surstyli , large cercus with di stinct fingerlike di stolateral lobe etc. Long seri es of paratypes demonstrates variabi li ty in co lour of scape and pedicel (from ye ll ow to brown­ bl ack) and pleura (a lmo t entirely bl ack or with ye ll ow lon gih1dinal stripes), in length, width and position of hypopygial surstyli and shape of aedeagus. Howeve r, the general plan of the hypopygium is rather stable in 11 paratypes studi ed, although one of them has ha lf­ reduced ventral (unpaired) surstylu s. Many paratypes have I 51 flagellomere as long as hi gh, i.e., sho1ter than that in holotype.
