H-Travel The 6th Conference on Sustainable Tourism in Asia – COSTA 2020 Discussion published by Michael Sasaoka on Thursday, December 5, 2019 Type: Conference Date: March 27, 2020 to March 28, 2020 Location: Japan Subject Fields: Economic History / Studies Welcome to COSTA 2020 We welcome you to join us in Osaka, Japan on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, 2020 for the 6th Conference on Sustainable Tourism in Asia (COSTA 2020), to be held at the Osaka Corona Hotel in Osaka City, Japan. This event is being organized alongsidethe 6th Conference on Human Development in Asia (COHDA 2020). COSTA 2020 will coincide with the cherry blossom viewing period around Osaka. The good weather and blooming cherry blossoms is a time ‘hanami’ celebrations around the city. Hanami, which means cherry blossom viewing, is an important ritual in Japanese culture dating back hundreds of years. It is customary for people to gather in parks and spread tarps beneath the cherry trees, admiring the splendor of the blossoms, while eating, drinking and enjoying time with family and friends. The most popular spots for hanami get crowded with food and drink stalls, and sometimes there are festivals and events of all kinds. Plus, hanami in Osaka can be enjoyed not only during daytime, but also at night, when the cherry trees are lit up and offer a completely different scenery. This is a small, international, peer-reviewed conference with a limited number of oral and poster presentation time slots. We encourage all interested participants to submit presentations as early as possible. Please note that submissions and registration will close when the event has reached its capacity. -

Through brief studies of language construction, Zen, Pachinko and traditional aesthetics, analogies and references can be used to highlight congruent musical structures and predilections in Ichiyanagi’s work. The final goal is to define the work not only within musical terms of analysis, but also within a cultural context. 4 Copyright © 2004 by Michael Fowler All Rights Reserved 5 CONTENTS Chapter I. JP Domain Name Registry Report 2019
2019.1-12 JP Domain Name Registry Report Japan Registry Services Co.,Ltd. Introduction The Internet is being used in increasingly broad and diverse areas of society as technology advances. Along with that, the need for domain names and the importance of the domain name system (DNS) are also being strengthened. With this background, the number of JP domain names surpassed 1.57 million in January 2020. Over 420,000 names are registered under “co.jp,” making it the most registered category in the Organizational Type JP Domain Name, the domain name space categorized by organizational type of registrants. 97% of publicly-listed companies in Japan have already registered “co.jp” domain names. JPRS is committed to its ongoing effort to improve JP domain name services, develop systems and carry out promotional activities to facilitate the use of JP domain names and deliver greater value to users. The domain name industry saw the number of domain names across TLDs increase. On the other hand, various challenges have continued to threaten the Internet infrastructure, such as domain hijacking that exploits falsified DNS configurations and detection of vulnerabilities in DNS software. As a company supporting the basis of the Internet society through domain names and DNS, JPRS is striving to make the Internet safe for everyone to use. To this end, JPRS promptly provides information and deals with risks and challenges related to domain names and DNS as they arise. JPRS also actively contributes to discussions of global issues and conveys relevant information to the communities in Japan. The management and administration of JP domain names require a high level of commitment to enhancing the public interest and getting ahead in the competition. -
Characteristics of Agriculture in Japanese Regions and Convergence: an Empirical Analysis Using Panel Unit Root Test*
Kobe University Economic Review 59 (2013) 25 CHARACTERISTICS OF AGRICULTURE IN JAPANESE REGIONS AND CONVERGENCE: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS USING PANEL UNIT ROOT TEST* By TOMOKO KINUGASA† and YUKIO FUKUMOTO‡ This research investigates whether several characteristics of agriculture in Japanese regions were con- verging empirically. Four kinds of panel unit root tests imply that agricultural income per farm tended to converge among Japanese prefectures from 1965 to 1995. However, other characteristics of agriculture did not necessarily converge. The dependent ratio of agriculture in Hokkaido is so large that it would be dif- ficult for other prefectures to match its level. We could not find strong evidence that agricultural research stock per farm was converging. Therefore, it is possible that agriculture had not been operating in a similar way throughout Japan. 1. Introduction Japanese agriculture is facing a critical situation. The food self-sufficiency ratio has de- creased year by year, and many farms abandoned agricultural pursuits or devoted more effort to businesses other than agriculture. Japan is a small country, and the limited amount of arable land is a serious problem. In such a situation, Japanese farms with relatively high productiv- ity have expanded their agricultural land by absorbing smaller farm holdings in an attempt to strengthen their international competitiveness. The purpose of this research is to investigate the convergence of characteristics of agricul- ture in Japanese regions by using the panel unit root test. The basic tenets of convergence the- ory are that an economy with low productivity tends to grow faster than one with higher pro- ductivity, and that a poor economy tends to catch up with a rich economy over the long run. -
Social Determinants of Health in Non-Communicable Diseases Case Studies from Japan Springer Series on Epidemiology and Public Health
Springer Series on Epidemiology and Public Health Katsunori Kondo Editor Social Determinants of Health in Non-communicable Diseases Case Studies from Japan Springer Series on Epidemiology and Public Health Series Editors Wolfgang Ahrens, Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology—BIPS, Bremen, Germany Iris Pigeot, Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology—BIPS, Bremen, Germany The series has two main aims. First, it publishes textbooks and monographs addressing recent advances in specific research areas. Second, it provides comprehensive overviews of the methods and results of key epidemiological studies marking cornerstones of epidemiological practice, which are otherwise scattered across numerous narrow-focused publications. Thus the series offers in-depth knowledge on a variety of topics, in particular, on epidemiological concepts and methods, statistical tools, applications, epidemiological practice and public health. It also covers innovative areas such as molecular and genetic epidemiology, statistical principles in epidemiology, modern study designs, data management, quality assurance and other recent methodological developments. Written by the key experts and leaders in corresponding fields, the books in the series offer both broad overviews and insights into specific areas and topics. The series serves as an in-depth reference source that can be used complementarily to the “The Handbook of Epidemiology,” which provides a starting point of orientation for interested readers (2nd edition published in 2014 http://www.springer.com/public+health/ book/978-0-387-09835-7). The series is intended for researchers and professionals involved in health research, health reporting, health promotion, health system administration and related aspects. It is also of interest for public health specialists and researchers, epidemiologists, physicians, biostatisticians, health educators, and students worldwide. -
