8Roundtablevienna2012 05 Pr ENGS was founded on December 7, 2005 in the EP in Brussels Our intention: Mobilize green seniors ( 55+) in all countries. There is a growing number of Seniors that have the time, energy, experience and enthusiasm to co-operate in a further expansion of the EGP. Brussels Declaration of the European Network of Green Seniors (ENGS) Made on December 7, 2005 The main points We demand that we seniors have an influence on political decisions and solutions. We would like to offer the opportunity for an open discussion about these topics with young people, especially the young Greens. We think that the European Green Seniors should contribute to this process. The Aims Well-founded contributions can only be made if the European Green Seniors regularly meet to discuss the following topics: ecology social security health care employment food protection mobility pluralistic culture pensions and other current problems and fields of our special interest such as life-long learning, voluntary participation in civil society We can make our positions public in concentrated support actions. And last but not least we want to see Green European perspectives (in general and focused on the problems of old people) realized at all levels. First: Established 4 Workshops: •Fight against poverty of older people •Age discrimination on the labour market •Economy without growth •An European Party of Green Seniors 3rd General Meeting in Vienna in October 2007 On the occasion of the EGP Council from October 12 – 14 in Vienna Green Seniors representing 14 Green parties from 13 European countries. •organized the first fringe meeting on the topic: Europe is Aging – challenge or Opportunitiy at the European Elections •carried out their first Climate Chance action •held their 3rd ENGS General Meeting in the Vienna Green Headquarters First Climate Change action in the main shopping aera of Vienna Manifesto of the 1. No Discrimination on the Job Market 2. Passing on Experience - Lifelong Learning 3. The Right to Personal and Social Development 4. Voluntary Work 5. Old Age Pensions 6. New forms of living for old people 7. Against an Increasing Liberalization of the Social Services 8. Assistance to Elderly Migrants 9. Access to Health Care. Dying with Dignity 10. Mobility 11. A new Treaty between Young and Old 12.The seniors of the ENGS want to be active on all political fields that are a concern of their personal life. 13. Conclusions The Seniors of the ENGS interfere in all political issues that concern our society ENGS holds a fringe meeting with the topic: “In good times as in bad times – towards a new Generation Contract”. Participants from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Austria and the Federation of the European Young Greens and: recognizing their activities and targets ENGS received at this EGP OBERSERVER STATUS Global Green Conference in Brazil, Sao Paulo 1 - 4 May 2008 more than 1000 Greens and sympathizers from 80 countries worldwide basic issues: Biodiversity and global climate change Post-Kyoto measures Sustainable green urban politics Future of the global Green movement 21 points for the 21st century Older people – a new topic for the Greens worldwide Para 17: support of sustainable politics The Greens agree that human rights have to be respected and followed. This is especially true for the fight against brutality towards women and children. Also, equality of women and men and all minorities, be it indigenous groups, be it homosexuals, transgender, ethnic groups and OLDER PEOPLE. All of them are being supported by the Greens and represented in their human rights. FYEG-General Assembly Federation Young European Greens 9 – 11 May 2008, Berlin ENGS was invited, for the first time, to participate in a FYEG meeting. FYEG has existed for 20 years and is an important platform of the Young Green Dialogue. The Global Young Greens were founded in Sao Paulo and are being supported by the ENGS. ENGS was presented as one of the 4 partners of the Fish Bowl which comments on European issues (East European contacts, generation questions). Participation in the street demonstration “Fortress Europe” Presentation of ENGS 15 and 16 May 2008, Warsaw “Healt Promotion for elderly people” EU-Project Promoting health for older people is a new discipline within health promotion.     GENERAL 14-18 AUG ISTANBUL ASSEMBLY Financialactivity Conditions report 2018-2019and guidelines Activity Report 2018–2019 In the second part of 2018 and the first part of 2019 we implemented diverse activities, drafted resolutions, hosted progressive events, ran the campaign for the 2019 European elections and led many other processes that are defined in this document. FYEG’s work is taking place at a time where Europe is in a turbulent situation. We have a holistic, radical political vision of Europe, where we show the interlinkages between different issues - equality, sustainability, social justice, democracy. When it comes to political visions, we are a progressive think tank within the Green movement. With the capacities of the Executive Committee but also the Campaign Team, Prep Teams and several Working Groups, we continue to come up with radical ideas and push for change through in person meetings with various actors, state-of-the-art communication and impactful actions. Young Green Candidates had several, changemaking electoral successes in the European Elections, as well on local and national level - in Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Finland and Germany. Many Young Greens (especially many young women* and including young people with a migrant background) were elected to local councils or parliaments around Europe. Besides, we see more and more youth standing up for what they think is right and taking their future in their own hands. A remarkable example are the climate strikes that spread all over Europe and mobilised tens of thousands of young people, mostly teenagers and high school students. These are important determinants for the future of Europe and of an ecological movements like us.

Amid a climate emergency that is wreaking unprecedented havoc, we write to you with an urgent request that is vitally important. We applaud your stated intent and action for the United States to rejoin the Paris Agreement at the earliest possible moment. We also call on your administration to go far beyond simply rejoining the 1 Paris Agreement and commit to honor the US’ Fair Share ​ in addressing the climate emergency.   • Steering Committee Report 2017
    Global Young Greens - Past Challenges and Successes Written by Michaela Prassl, Bernardo Estacio Abreu and Jeroni Vergeer Michaela: The first couple of months for the Steering Committee (SC) after being elected in Dakar in 2012 were a bit rough and it took the SC members some time to get into a routine with regard to meetings. The knowledge transfer was a task that the SC tried to take very seriously. However, transferring knowledge is never done easily and also GYG and the SC struggled to fulfill the task. The SC committed its energy to working on planning, improving, expanding, reconstructing and implementing the action plan that was already worked on in Dakar in which membership was, for example, a crucial point that needed to be tackled. The incoming SC also had to deal with a couple of left-over elements from the congress in Dakar such as the Congress Report (which can be found on the homepage). In fall 2012 the first action day was implemented by the SC: Global Action Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The organization was well planned and the resonance was quite good. The GYG world car-free day was organized in 2013 and many different events took place around the globe. These are just two examples that prove that GYG has been successful in the past. However, there have been challenges that, most likely, many NGOs face. Some of these obstacles may be home-made and can probably be easily overcome or changed in ways to be less hindering. Some members of the SC have shown extra-ordinary enthusiasm and willingness to get active, they have in collaboration with others published amazing newsletters for example, but were discouraged by systemic obstacles and sometimes the lack of motivation by others.
