Public Citizen & Americans for Financial Reform, Washington DC January 2016 – January 2018 Arbitration Campaign Director • Directed and grew national campaigns with field support to rein in corporate use of forced arbitration. ▪ Nearly tripled coalition participation to 281 groups in first eight months, then up to 370; generated more than 100,000 grassroots comments and nearly 100,000 petition signatures from members of the public. ▪ Generated unprecedented coverage by appearing as “Monopoly Man” in Senate hearing with Equifax CEO. ▪ Uncovered Wells Fargo’s potentially criminal misconduct and broke story to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. • Cultivated allies in Congress; drafted fact sheets, talking points, and sample questions to prep staff for hearings. • Served as primary spokesperson for coalition on television segments, radio, and print media in major outlets.

DemocrEC, Washington DC November 2016 – February 2017 Co-founder, Director of Strategy and Communications • One week after the 2016 election, launched first web portal to allow voters to urge members of electoral college to honor popular vote; managed social media accounts, directed campaigns, and recruited celebrity endorsers – resulting in over five thousand personalized emails sent to electors in dozens of states over just five weeks. • Drafted all copy for the website, with bold messaging declaring Donald Trump an illegitimate President-elect; served as prime spokesperson for the project, making the case in major media profiles, live streams, and podcasts.

International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR), Washington DC January 2015 – September 2015 Legal and Policy Fellow • Led state level remedies and procurement reform projects by crafting strategy, drafting all materials, developing talking points, representing ICAR in meetings and presentations, and supervising law clinics and interns. • Directed successful legislative efforts in California (AB 15, now law) and Massachusetts (SB 877) to strengthen remedies available to survivors of human rights abuses; secured legislators in key leadership positions as sponsors. ▪ Testified in front of California’s Senate Judiciary Committee, fielding Senators’ questions for over an hour.

Office of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Washington DC September 2014 – December 2014 Legal Fellow • Conducted in-depth legal research and writing, policy analysis, and statutory interpretation support on issues of student loan servicing, debt collection, corporate criminal liability, and income inequality; provided analyses and recommendations on pending bills; drafted talking points and questions for Committee hearings.

International Human Rights Clinic, Los Angeles, CA August 2013 – May 2014 Student Attorney • Partnered with noted civil rights attorney Paul Hoffman to file human rights petition with the Inter-American Commission on behalf of four Iranian-born brothers wrongly detained by U.S. government on falsified evidence; • Partnered with Black Lives Matter co-founder, Patrisse Cullors, to design a civilian review board to oversee L.A. County Sheriff’s Department; produced internal memo detailing and evaluating best practices in civilian oversight nationwide and public proposal with final recommendations, presented to the L.A. County Board of Supervisors.

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Washington DC Summer 2013 Legal Intern, Enforcement and Community Affairs • Interviewed consumers, conducted factual investigation, and coordinated legal strategy for major litigation sweep of loan modification scams; created comprehensive pleading template to be used in all cases stemming therefrom. • Pioneered collaboration between Enforcement and Consumer Response departments to stem housing abuses; designed tailored complaint form for more efficient fact investigation, consumer education, and case-building. • Represented Community Affairs on internal task force to revamp CFPB’s public-facing communications. • Drafted briefing memos for Director Cordray; planned outreach events; built new relationships with stakeholders.

Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris & Hoffman, LLP, Venice, California August 2012 – May 2013 Law Clerk to Paul Hoffman • Conducted legal research and wrote memoranda in connection with Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum, an international corporate accountability case decided by the Supreme Court in 2013, as well as various domestic civil rights cases. • Wrote comprehensive research paper examining barriers to Bivens liability in the national security context, used to prepare Mr. Hoffman’s oral argument in DC Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of former Guantanamo detainee.

The Greenlining Institute, Berkeley, California Summer 2012 Environmental Equity Legal Intern • Spearheaded successful campaign to defeat dangerous $70 million natural gas project pending before California Public Utilities Commission; highlighted as one of Greenlining’s six major victories at 2013 Economic Summit. ▪ Drafted policy letters and legal briefs, gave public speeches, and led meetings with state Commissioners. • Provided research and strategy support to serve low-income communities of color on several complex projects – addressing issues of cap-and-trade, community benefits programs, energy efficiency, and workforce training.
