Paying for Foot Care Private pay is generally the only option for nail clipping, however some agencies accept donations. Insurance is not billed for foot care, unless:

Medicare - Must be actively treated by a doctor for a medical condition affecting circulation of the legs or feet. Medicare Part B covers the services of a podiatrist (foot doctor) for medically-necessary treatment of injuries or diseases of the foot (i.e. hammer toe, bunion deformities, and heel spurs). Part B coverage may allow for toenails to be clipped while being seen for a medical condition. Medicare pays 80% of approved amounts.

Medicaid - Foot care must be a medically-necessary service for the diagnosis and treatment of the feet and ankles. There is a small co-payment for foot care. If being treated for a medical condition of the feet or ankles, a podiatrist may also clip toenails. If on BadgerCare, check with the HMO to see if toenail clipping is a covered service, and if so, which provider is covered by that HMO. Routine nail clipping is not covered under Medicaid.
