CHAPTER 4 Environmental Consequences 4.1 Introduction This chapter assesses environmental impacts that would occur due to the implementation of proposed action or the alternatives described in Chapter 2. The baseline affected environment, or existing condition, is described in Chapter 3. 4.1.1 Analytical Assumptions The following impacts analysis was conducted with the following assumptions: 1. The laws, regulations, and policies applicable to BLM authorizing ROW grants for renewable energy development facilities would be applied consistently for all action alternatives. 2. The proposed facility would be constructed, operated, maintained and decommissioned as described in each action alternative. 3. Short-term impacts are those expected to occur during the construction phase and the first five years of the operation and maintenance phase. Long-term impacts are those that would occur after the first five years of operation. 4.1.2 Types of Effects The potential impacts from those actions that would have direct, indirect, and cumulative effects were considered for each resource. Effects and impacts as used in this document are synonymous and could be beneficial or detrimental. Direct effects are caused by the action and occur at the same time and place as the action; indirect effects are caused by the action and occur later in time or further in distance, but are still reasonably foreseeable. 40 CFR 1508.8. Cumulative impacts are those effects resulting from the incremental impacts of an action when combined with other past, present, and reasonably foreseeable future actions (regardless of which agency or person undertakes such actions). 40 CFR 1508.7. Cumulative impacts could result from individually insignificant but collectively significant actions taking place over a period of time. -

But in our country only 40 percent peo- ple has the access of the electricity. Moreover fossil fuel is non-renewable, so it is diminishing day-by-day. As a result we need different solution of elec- tricity generation. In our country, so renewable energy is becoming more popular day by day along with the world. Solar Energy is one of that kind re- newable energy. Its application is increasing day by day. Bangladesh has good availability of solar energy to generate electricity. In this study production of electricity using solar energy in Bangladesh along with the world has been shown in details. GENERAL Today no one can deny that our country is suffering from shortage of power, so badly needed for economic growth of the country, halting agriculture and industrial development. To meet the shortage of power demand, we need to utilize all the available indigenous resources in Pakistan particularly Wind Mills, Hydel Potential, Thar Coal and Solar Energy, which has a great potential to meet our power demand and is emerging as the most potent source of renewal energy. Solar energy if sincerely exploited can bring a revolution in the very near future, and GoP must give due priority for its development in Pakistan to meet shortage of power. 2. SOLAR POWER Solar Power is the conversion of sunlight electricity, either directly using photovoltaic (PV) or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP), so there are two major sources of solar power which will be discussed with respect to type of technology, application, economy, cost, their present and the future status. i. Photovoltaic Cell (PV) ii. Solar Thermal Power (CSP) 3. PHOTOVOLTAIC CELL Broadly speaking photovoltaic cell technology can be classified into – Traditional Crystalline Silicon Technology (SC) – Thin Film Solar Cells (TFSC) technology There are currently three different generations of solar cell. The previous record holder belonged to the Topaz Solar Farm in California that has a capacity of 550 MW. India has been fast-tracking solar power projects in the past few years thanks to a goalof having 20 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity installed by 2022. That goal has spurred some very large solar projects, including a 4 GW plant slated to be built over the next 7 years. Planned solar power projects have grown in size, but each plant takes years to pass through different phases of approval, receive funding and ultimately be built. That's why as we hear about plans for solar power plants with capacities in the thousands of megawatts, the largest ones actually built and running are in the > RESOURCES hundreds of megawatts. None of that should take away from the impressiveness of this new power plant though.
