Tourism Development Options in Marginal and Less-Favored Regions: a Case Study of Slovakia´S Gemer Region
land Article Tourism Development Options in Marginal and Less-Favored Regions: A Case Study of Slovakia´s Gemer Region Daniela Hutárová, Ivana Kozelová and Jana Špulerová * Institute of Landscape Ecology of Slovak Academy of Sciences, P.O. Box 254, Štefánikova 3, 814 99 Bratislava, Slovakia; [email protected] (D.H.); [email protected] (I.K.) * Correspondence: [email protected]; Tel.: +421-2-32293628 Abstract: Marginal and less-favored regions are characterized by negative migration balance, lower living standards, aging of the population, a lower number of employment opportunities, lower educational level, and lower investments in the territory. Gemer is one of these regions in Slovakia. On the other hand, the Gemer region has a very interesting history and many cultural monuments, nature protection areas, and UNESCO World Heritage sites that create options for tourism develop- ment. The monuments of the Gothic Road have the potential for religious tourism. Karst relief and the sites and monuments related to mining present on the Iron Road provide suitable conditions for geotourism and mining tourism. Local villages contain traditional agricultural landscapes, which create suitable conditions for active rural tourism associated with creative tourism or agrotourism. There is also the promising possibility of cross-border cooperation with Hungary. However, the revenues from tourism do not reach the same level as in other, similar regions of Slovakia. The main failings of tourism development include the insufficient coordination of destination marketing organization stakeholders, lack of care for monuments, and underestimation of the potential of Roma culture and art production. However, analyzed state policy instruments on the promotion of tourism Citation: Hutárová, D.; Kozelová, I.; did not mitigate but rather exacerbated regional disparities in Slovakia. -

The Traces of Roman Metallurgy in Eastern Serbia
Journal of Journal of Mining and Metallurgy 45 (2) B (2009) 187 - 196 Mining and Metallurgy THE TRACES OF ROMAN METALLURGY IN EASTERN SERBIA S. Petković # Institute of Archaeology, Belgrade, Serbia (Received 09 January 2009; accepted 28 February 2009) Abstract The archaeological traces of the Roman mining and metallurgy in eastern Serbia are rather frequent but insufficiently studied and published. Three mining-metallurgical regions abounding in gold, silver, copper, iron and lead could be distinguished there: 1. the upper course of the Pek river, metalla Pincensia, 2. the area between Bor, Zlot, Crna Reka and Rgotina and 3. the area in the river basin of Beli Timok, two latter ones had been organized as territoria metallorum. The archeometallurgical sites confirmed by investigations are: Kraku lu Jordan at the confluence of the Brodica river and the Pek river, Rudna Glava, Tilva Roš in Bor, Gamzigrad – Romuliana, Rgotina near Zaječar and Timacum Minus in the village Ravna near Knjaževac. Roman mining-metallurgical activities in eastern Serbia flourished from the end of the 3rd century, were interrupted by the invasion of Huns in AD 441. and restored in the time of emperors Anastasius and Justin I, in the end of the 5th – beginning of the 6th centuries. The Roman mining-metallurgical centers functioned in the 6th century until the Slav invasion in the beginning of the 7th century. Cross-Border Euro-Regional Activation and Regional Development in Slovakia
Cross-border Euro-regional activation and regional development in Slovakia Cezhraničná – euroregionálna aktivizácia a regionálny rozvoj na Slovensku Ľ. FALŤAN Institute for Sociology, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava, Slovak Republic Abstract: Social-political transition in the former socialist countries led to a new understanding of borders and created the prerequisites for renaissance and significant activation of the cross-border co-operation. This way, Slovakia along with other countries joined the Euro-regional movement in Europe, which spread since the end of 60-ies through Western-Eu- ropean countries. Formation and institutionalisation of Euro-regional relations, links and co-operation was initially hinde- red by a whole range of obstacles, including the ones with political background. It was obvious mainly in Slovakia where it influenced the existence and potential establishment of new Euro-regional associations. Rebirth of the Euro-regional activities started after 1998. Currently, there are Euro-regions practically operating along the entire Slovak border with its neighbours. The extent and form of institutionalisation and professional staffing varies. Activities of Euro-regions are merely based on projects which bring funding. Projects are broadly oriented, while the prevailing focus is currently on the economic activation of Euro-regions. There is a lack of partner co-operation and co-ordination of activities between coun- tries and their activities, including cross-border activities and activities of Euro-regions. Euro-regional activities play a sig- nificant role in activation of border areas in the country, while they have a complementary character for the regional state policy and regional policy of self-governed regions which is being formulated. -

ISSN 2226-3063 e-ISSN 2227-9555 Modern Phytomorphology 11: 51–89, 2017 doi: 10.5281/zenodo.834040 RESEARCH ARTICLE Genus Aconitum in Slovakia: a phenetic approach Andriy Novikov * State Natural History Museum NAS of Ukraine, Teatralna str. 18, 79008 Lviv, Ukraine; [email protected] * Andriy Novikov formerly known as Andrew Novikoff starting from 2017 changed spelling variant of his name in accordance to legislation limitations Received: 23.04.2017 | Accepted: 28.06.2017 | Published: 23.07.2017 Abstract Comprehensive investigation on herbarium material was realized and taxonomical structure of the genus Aconitum in Slovakia has been ascertained on the base of phenetic analysis. Three new taxa (i.e. A. degenii subsp. degenii, A. moldavicum subsp. hosteanum, and A. moldavicum nothosubsp. confusum stat. nov.) were rediscovered for this region, and for one of them the new status was proposed. Morphological variation of A. anthora and its subdivision onto infraspecific taxa (subsp. anthora and subsp. jacquinii) are discussed. The new key for identification and maps of distribution are represented. Keywords: Aconitum, Slovakia, morphology, phenetics, distribution, taxonomy Introduction different morphological traits of monkshoods were considered for genus taxonomy by In spite of long history of investigation, different authors, and therefore very often taxonomy of the genus Aconitum L. is still taxonomic ranges vary significantly for the much discussed and remains unresolved. Many same taxonomic units (Götz 1967; Kmeťová taxonomic problems arise from the notorious 1982; Skalický 1990; Kadota 1987; Voroshilov hybridity within the genus and subsequent 1990; Tamura 1995; Tzvelev 2001).
