Hello residents of The Falls at Landen! My name is Anna Charron and I am so excited to be joining the Falls’ team as the Assistant Community Manager! I am from Anderson Township, and I graduated from Turpin High School. Outside of work, I can be found taking care of my fur babies, spending time with my loved ones and more This should get those legs in shape! The view from Seabrook Island than likely outside reading a good book! I spent 3 years before joining this industry working with pets, which added to my love for the more unusual ones. Some of the animals I have in my home include some exotic ones: Tarantulas, ferrets, turtles, snakes and rats! For about a year after that, I worked at a property in Newtown, Ohio, and now I feel fortunate to be here! In the picture with me is my baby, Peanut. She came to my place of work as a 3-month-old Check out the pineapple kitten. She found her furever “Gorilla” hanging out in Florida fountain in Charleston! home with me that day. Don’t forget to swing on by to say hello! Happy Birthday AUGUST Cathy Dale, 10th Mary Lou Cieslak, 15th Lisa Burke, 19th Annette Boster, 25th September Neville Stanislaus, 1st Dianne Olcott, 5th Jacob Boutwell, 13th Ann Hamilton, 19th LuAnne Brice, 21st Anna & “Peanut” 3 Steve, Susan and Maycee Pidcock It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Pidcock family. Steve, Susan and Maycee joined our community in October of 2018. They have a 9-year-old “Schnoodle” named Abby. Steve and Susan have been married 31 years. How do they make it last? Setting boundaries, good communication and a strong faith. An adventure to Mt. Rushmore, wow! Vacation to the Smoky Mountains They believe they are stronger together and they would have too much to lose apart. They respect each other and the family they have built. Steve and Susan were originally born and raised in Indiana. They met in junior high and attended the same church. They dated through junior high and high school, then went their semi-separate ways when they attended college. As fate would have it, they met up again when they both attended Ball State University. They dated on and off until Susan was offered a job several hours away from Steve A “close to home” outing and he decided he did not want to wait any longer and popped the question — “If you marry me, will you not take the job?” She said YES! Steve always knew he wanted to be in the health care profession and is currently in the financial end of a hospital institution. He has an hour and a half commute, each way, but prefers it to be home with his family each evening. Susan works in food service for Kings School District which also keeps her available to be home with Maycee after school. What dedicated parents! Steve enjoys video gaming when he has free time while Susan is into James Patterson books, crafting and Facebook. Maycee stays busy with friends and dance classes. She has been taking dance for about 10 years now and hopes to make a career of it. She will be starting her freshman year at Kings High School this year. They look forward to vacations together as a family, and seeing everything the U.S. has to offer. Some of their adventures have taken them to Pigeon Forge, Niagara Falls and lighthouse tours in the Northeast. 4 Covid posed obstacles for the Pidcocks. Steve worked from home but found ways to keep his staff connected, motivated and in good spirits. Great leadership skills ... CHECK! Maycee missed her friends, school and found it challenging to stay focused with Maycee’s future? She has a great virtual classes. The “Abby” — What a cutie! start according to this picture. Pidcock family is glad to see things getting back to normal. I asked each of them what they would do with a million dollars: Maycee would help others, put a lot into savings and redo her room. Susan would pay off bills and build her dream home — preferably a large farm in Kentucky where you can see the mountains. And Steve said he would not change a thing. He loves his life just as it is. I asked them “Why The Falls?” It is beautiful and well-maintained. There is easy access to the interstate for Steve’s long, daily commute. They appreciate the fact that there is no maintenance, other than a call to the Office. The like the diversity of Kings School System. I want to thank Steve, Susan and Maycee for taking the time to meet with me and share their family story. Respectfully, Willa

Enjoy the “Wild Life/Wildlife” at The Falls Besides the resident events which can satisfy the adventurous at heart, you can also kick back and enjoy the actual “wildlife” at The Falls. We have everything from ducks/ducklings, geese/goslings, the fish you can catch at the A great picture of our blue ponds, and even Duck, duck ... Goose! heron; thanks, Elizabeth! our resident blue heron. You can relax and listen to the tree frogs or try to catch the elusive lightning bug. Whatever you prefer — you have it here. 5 What’s on Paul’s Mind ... Where does the time go? I cannot believe that we are already heading toward the end of summer and the start of fall. We managed to get the sealcoating finished and I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this project. This is one that nobody likes but is very necessary to keep the community in tip top shape. School is back in session, so please be sure to observe the 15 MPH speed limit to keep our children safe when they head toward the bus stop. Kids are usually “in the moment” so we need to be sure to stay vigilant. A reminder that our exterminator comes out on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month. If you find yourself in need of a “critter getter,” please keep those dates in mind. One of the many issues we deal with, having hard water, is a buildup on the bottom of the dishwasher. If you pour straight white vinegar in the bottom of the machine, let it sit awhile, it will be much easier to remove. If the buildup is removed, there is less of a chance on sediments landing on dishes and silverware. Another tip involves your dryer. It is important to remember to remove lint from the dryer screen between each load of laundry. By keeping the screen free of lint, it will prolong the life of your dryer, reduce the drying time (saving you on your utility bill) and avoid the possibility of a fire. The last tip for this issue concerns your microwaves. If you set your timer for 5 minutes and find you do not need that long, be sure to cancel the balance of time before opening the door. By opening the door while the microwave is still running can short out the switch preventing it from working. I hope you find these tips helpful and remember that we’re here for you. Respectfully,

Miley Burke Meet Miley Burke! Miley is as loving as can be and turned 3 years old on Valentine’s Day! Miley’s mom, Lisa, was looking for an older dog to rescue and stumbled across her at an adoption event with Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP — a local rescue organization) when she was barely one year old. She instantly curled into her mom’s arms and that is when she knew Just chillin’ out she found her forever home. Miley is a Cairn Terrier mix, just like Toto from “The Wizard of Cruising with a friend Oz”! She does not care for treats or toys as much as she loves to lay on mom’s lap and get scratched, go on walks and go exploring. Miley and Lisa love to go for walks around Mason, local parks, the Loveland Bike Trail and the Nature Center hiking trails, so she gets to experience new surroundings all the time. Lisa home cooks all her meals including ingredients such as: Chicken, sweet potatoes, brown rice, pumpkin, salmon, tuna I just love the beach! and additional supplements to keep her super healthy. Lisa strives to give her the best life and even gets her chiropractic adjustments to help her digestive system and Miley loves it — Look ... I’m a sunflower! feels just like a massage! Miley loved when her mom taught from home during COVID, because she got all of mom’s attention and cuddles, and particularly liked greeting mom’s students on Zoom calls. She remembers all the human and dog friends that she meets here in the neighborhood, and loves to go up to their door or patio and wag her tail till they come out and play with her. Some of her “favorite” neighbors even keep bags of treats by the patio door just for her when she stops by! If you see this sweet girl out on a walk, make sure you say Hello! 7 What did you say?
