Steve, Susan and Maycee joined our community in October of 2018. They have a 9-year-old “Schnoodle” named Abby. Steve and Susan have been married 31 years. How do they make it last? Setting boundaries, good communication and a strong faith. An adventure to Mt. Rushmore, wow! Vacation to the Smoky Mountains They believe they are stronger together and they would have too much to lose apart. They respect each other and the family they have built. Steve and Susan were originally born and raised in Indiana. They met in junior high and attended the same church. They dated through junior high and high school, then went their semi-separate ways when they attended college. As fate would have it, they met up again when they both attended Ball State University. They dated on and off until Susan was offered a job several hours away from Steve A “close to home” outing and he decided he did not want to wait any longer and popped the question — “If you marry me, will you not take the job?” She said YES! Steve always knew he wanted to be in the health care profession and is currently in the financial end of a hospital institution. He has an hour and a half commute, each way, but prefers it to be home with his family each evening. Susan works in food service for Kings School District which also keeps her available to be home with Maycee after school. What dedicated parents! Steve enjoys video gaming when he has free time while Susan is into James Patterson books, crafting and Facebook. Maycee stays busy with friends and dance classes. She has been taking dance for about 10 years now and hopes to make a career of it. She will be starting her freshman year at Kings High School this year. They look forward to vacations together as a family, and seeing everything the U.S. has to offer. Some of their adventures have taken them to Pigeon Forge, Niagara Falls and lighthouse tours in the Northeast. 4 Covid posed obstacles for the Pidcocks. Steve worked from home but found ways to keep his staff connected, motivated and in good spirits. Great leadership skills ... CHECK! Maycee missed her friends, school and found it challenging to stay focused with Maycee’s future? She has a great virtual classes. The “Abby” — What a cutie! start according to this picture. Pidcock family is glad to see things getting back to normal. I asked each of them what they would do with a million dollars: Maycee would help others, put a lot into savings and redo her room. Susan would pay off bills and build her dream home — preferably a large farm in Kentucky where you can see the mountains. And Steve said he would not change a thing. He loves his life just as it is. I asked them “Why The Falls?” It is beautiful and well-maintained. There is easy access to the interstate for Steve’s long, daily commute. They appreciate the fact that there is no maintenance, other than a call to the Office. The like the diversity of Kings School System. I want to thank Steve, Susan and Maycee for taking the time to meet with me and share their family story. Respectfully, Willa Enjoy the “Wild Life/Wildlife” at The Falls Besides the resident events which can satisfy the adventurous at heart, you can also kick back and enjoy the actual “wildlife” at The Falls. We have everything from ducks/ducklings, geese/goslings, the fish you can catch at the A great picture of our blue ponds, and even Duck, duck ... Goose! heron; thanks, Elizabeth! our resident blue heron. You can relax and listen to the tree frogs or try to catch the elusive lightning bug. Whatever you prefer — you have it here. 5 What’s on Paul’s Mind ... Where does the time go? I cannot believe that we are already heading toward the end of summer and the start of fall. We managed to get the sealcoating finished and I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this project.
