MICHAEL STRAHAN TO RECEIVE HALL OF FAME RING OF EXCELLENCE TO BE HONORED AT METLIFE STADIUM ON MONDAY NIGHT
CANTON, OHIO – Pro Fo o tball Hall o f Fame defensive end Michael Strahan will receive his Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence, created by Kay® Jewelers, during the New York Giants Week 9 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, Nov. 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Strahan will receive his Hall o f Fame Ring o f Excellence fro m Pro Fo o tball Hall o f Fame President David Baker at halftime. The special ceremo ny will highlight the Giants’ Homecoming Weekend that is celebrating the franchise’s long and storied traditio n by welco ming back mo re than 100 fo rmer Giants legends. Joining Strahan and his family and friends o n the field will be his fello w Go ld Jackets (living Hall o f Famers) Harry Carson, Frank Gifford, and Lawrence Taylor.
The Hall o f Fame Ring o f Excellence is one of three iconic symbols that represent the elite status of being a member of the Pro Football Hall o f Fame. Strahan received his Hall of Fame Gold Jacket on the eve of his enshrinement in Canton, and unveiled his Bronzed Bust during the Enshrinement Ceremony. All three symbo ls will be displayed during the ring presentatio n o n Monday night. He will wear his Hall o f Fame Go ld Jacket and his Bro nz ed Bust will be tempo rarily remo ved from the Hall of Fame and shipped to MetLife Stadium for the Ring of Excellence ceremony.

Strahan was enshrined into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 2 along with Derrick Brooks, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Walter Jones, Andre Reed, and Aeneas Williams. Strahan is the 20th lo ngtime member of the Giants franchise to be enshrined into the Pro Fo o tball Hall o f Fame.
He was drafted in the second round of the 1993 NFL Draft and embarked on a legendary career that included an impressive 141.5 sacks. He posted double-digit sack to tals six times during a nine-year span from 1997 to 2005. Equally adept at playing the run, he earned All-Pro and All-NFC ho no rs five times, was elected to seven Pro Bowls and voted to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2000s. In 2001, he was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of Year after capturing one of his two career sack titles with a NFL record 22.5 sacks that season.
Strahan humbly reflected on the honor bestowed him last August when he shared from the Enshrinement stage in Canton, “Anybody who thinks we’re up here because of ourselves, we're fooling ourselves.
