Interesting Take from LT on the Giants But Not an AutobiographyBy Kevin M. DerbyIn ldquo;My Giant Life,rdquo; Lawrence Taylor avoids offering an autobiography. What he does present in this book is his take on playing with the New York Giants over the years. To be sure, there are some insights on the big games Taylor played in the 1980s and 1990s. But much of this book deals with his fellow players and coaches. Giants fans will enjoy Taylorrsquo;s take on Harry Carson, O.J. Anderson, Phil Simms, Joe Morris and even opponents like Joe Montana. Taylor offers shares his thoughts on the post-Simms/Taylor/Parcels Giants, offering his views on Tom Coughlin, Eli Manning and others. This book doesnrsquo;t reveal much on Taylor and how he played the game; it does offer some fascinating insights on one of the leading franchises in the NFL.     Dan Hampton - Biography Dan Hampton also known as "Danimal" was born September 19, 1957 and is a retired Hall of Fame American football defensive tackle who played twelve seasons for the Chicago Bears from 1979 to 1990 in the National Football League. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002. Previously hosted pre- and post-game shows for the Bears on WGN Radio in Chicago. College Career Hampton played college football at Arkansas and was drafted in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Bears. He was part of a Razorback team that thumped the highly favored Oklahoma Sooners in the 1978 Orange Bowl by a score of 31-6. Several key Razorback players had been suspended for the game by Arkansas Head Coach Lou Holtz which left the team short-handed. The fired up Razorbacks charged from the locker room in a fashion that the media noticed. When asked why the team came out of the locker room in such a hurry the wry Hampton answered, "Coach Holtz said the last eleven out of the locker room will start". As a senior Hampton was an All-American as he logged 98 tackles (18 behind the line of scrimmage). He was also named the Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 1978. In addition, that same season, Hampton was named by the Houston Post the SWC Player of the Year.[2] As a junior he had 70 tackles (8 for a loss). In 1976, as a sophomore, Hampton made 48 tackles (2 for losses) and recovered two fumbles.

    THE COFFIN CORNER: Vol. 22, No. 4 (2000) RONNIE LOTT Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2000 By Joe Horrigan If you were to choose one word to describe defensive back Ronnie Lott, it would have to be “passionate.” One of the hardest hitting players ever to take the field, Lott played every down with a fearless winner- take-all attitude. A throwback to another era, he often spoke of his admiration for past bone-jarring greats like Dick Butkus, Ray Nitschke, and Sam Huff, and his desire to achieve their level of play. A consensus All-America choice at the University of Southern California, Lott was the Trojans’ 1980 Most Valuable Player. He led the Pac 10 with eight interceptions his senior season and registered 250 tackles during his four-year collegiate career. As a result, the San Francisco 49ers made him their No. 1 choice – the eighth pick overall – in the 1981 National Football League draft. Lott, as advertised, was the complete package. He had speed, strength, and knowledge of the game that set him apart from most other defensive backs. And, as hoped, the 6-0, 203-pound defensive back went on to become a defensive mainstay on a 49ers’ team that dominated the National Football League in the 1980s. His 14 years of near-unparalleled play not only earned him the right to be compared to the likes of Butkus, Nitschke, and Huff, it also accorded him the privilege of joining them as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. During his remarkable career with the 49ers (1981-1990), the Los Angeles Raiders (1991-1992), and the New York Jets (1993-1994), Lott earned 10 Pro Bowl invitations at three different positions – cornerback, strong safety, and free safety.
