MEET THE NEWEST MATADORS • Graduate RHP Daniel Vasquez has posted a 3.00 ERA with seven strikeouts in two starts. Vasquez spent four seasons at Tennessee where he went 3-3 with a 4.75 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 60 innings. • Junior shortstop Carlos Arellano has 12 hits and seven runs to go with a .300 batting average. Arellano batted .316 in 2018 at Arizona Western College, helping his team to the postseason. • Junior outfielder Kai Moody has scored 10 runs and tallied 10 hits while he leads the team with eight walks. Moody earned all-conference honors twice at Cabrillo College where he batted .338. 1993 • Junior first baseman Jason Ajamian has recorded nine hits, six RBI and three doubles this season. The Matadors began the year 7-0, posting their best start since 1993 Ajamian earned All-Western State Conference and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors at LA Valley College. • Junior RHP Elijah Garcia has made six appearances and worked 8.1 innings to go with six strikeouts. Garcia spent three seasons at Sierra College where he won a Big 8 Conference title. • Junior infielder Cole Coffey has two hits and two runs scored in six games this season. Coffey garnered Pacific Association All-American Third Team honors in 2019 with Chabot College. He hit .337 last season. • Freshman infielder Mason Le is batting .321 with nine hits, five RBI and four runs this season. Le hit over .380 over his last two seasons at Culver City High School. • Freshman RHP Gavin Lizik (1-0) has worked 11.1 innings, striking out nine with a 3.97 ERA. Lizik was named Pitcher of the Year and received all-league honors at Esperanza High School.

Junior right-handed pitcher Alek Jacob, a preseason All-American, is sporting a 2.61 ERA and 17 strikeouts. Senior left-hander Mac Lardner has a team-high 25 strikeouts in 18.2 27 innings with a 2.41 ERA. As players or coaches, the Matador coaching staff have appeared 27 times in the NCAA Tournament.
