CURRY MALLET PARISH COUNCIL ORDINARY MEETING of the PARISH COUNCIL Minutes of the meeting of Curry Mallet Parish Council held on Monday June 15th 2015 in Curry Mallet and Beercrocombe Village Hall. Present: L W Frazer (Chairman), R J Allard, D R Beck, G K Townrow (Chairman for this meeting) and Mrs A J Clarke. In attendance: Derek Yeomans & Sue Steele (County & District Councillors respectively), Chris Dale (Village Hall Committee), Bob Burrough (Beercrocombe Parish Council), (all part time) Ann & Bernie Collett & Marjorie Hookham (all Magna Carta), Grant Turner and Peter McKeown (prior to co-option). 1191 Tribute: Mr Townrow started the meeting by paying tribute to the late Tony Davies of Beercrocombe Parish Council: Tony had been heavily involved in the execution of the Parish Plan during 2004 – 2006 for Curry Mallet and Beercrocombe residents. His sage advice and ability to resolve minor issues had been greatly valued. Mr Burrough was asked to convey the condolences of Curry Mallet Parish Council to Beercrocombe Council. 1192 Public Participation Time There were no items raised. 1193 To receive reports from the District and County Councillors on items that may be of interest The report from Derek Yeomans has been previously circulated to members. He vocalised that SCC were moving from implementer to motivator, using a private company for its care arrangements. It was noted that SSDC Area North Committee now has 6 re- elected and 7 new members. 1194 Declarations of Interest No new interests were declared. 1195 To approve and sign the draft Minutes of the meetings held on 11th May 2015 It was noted that a typo in draft minutes for 1189.1, reference to Jim Wells (not Weeks) has been made. -

This end of year report explains where the money came from and how it was spent. It also gives information about projects that have been delayed or had their funding moved to other activities. These details have been provided because the SRA wants people to know what it has achieved across the county – and it wants to be properly accountable. The SRA raises extra money to deliver extra work. Schemes are prioritised for SRA funding on the basis of the main objectives in Somerset’s 20 Year Flood Action Plan, which was developed in response to the floods of winter 2013-14. This report is divided into two sections. Performance covers delivery overall and by funding source, plus a table summarising 2016-17 finance; Progress gives more details about major projects, and smaller actions grouped according to SRA workstream – Dredging & River Management, Land Management, Urban Water Management, Resilient Infrastructure and Building Community Resilience. Somerset’s approach is uniquely joined-up. This report details just one year of the SRA’s extra work. PARISH OF WAMBROOK 1881 CENSUS RG11/2385 The census was carried out on the night of 3rd April 1881 and closely followed the format of the previous censuses taken between 1851 and 1871. The head of the family had to be defined as did the relationship to the head of each person staying in the house that night. The gender of each person was also recorded. Accurate ages were required throughout and were taken from the person’s last birthday. For infants under one year, the age was recorded either in months (m), weeks (w) or days (d). The rank, profession or occupation of each person was recorded and “Where Born” had to be completed by giving the county and town or parish of birth. An analysis of the recordings for Wambrook is tabled below: Age Group Under 10 68 25.8% 10 to 19 61 23.2% 20 to 29 26 9.9% 30 to 39 41 15.6% 40 to 49 19 7.2% 50 to 59 17 6.5% 60 to 69 22 8.4% 70 to 79 6 2.3% Over 80 3 1.1% Total 263 The census recorded 140 males (53.2% of total) and 123 females (46.8%) There were 48 occupied dwellings, which produced an average of 5.5 persons per dwelling. One uninhabited dwelling was recorded at Higher Wambrook. The transcript was made by members of CHRG from copies of the original documents. When extracting information from this transcript, the following points should be noted: * In 1881 Wambrook formed part of the County of Dorset, as the transfer to Somerset did not occur until 1896. -
