Meet Ms. Davis, ISS Teacher

Written By: Stephanie H. and Hunter G.

Shannon “Lee” Davis is our new ISS teacher, and she teaches 5th through 12th grades. Ms. Davis has been teaching for 14 years. She taught in Bryan for the past 7 years and is continuing her career here in Franklin. She attended the Uni- versity of Texas, which is where she got her teaching degree. If she could go anywhere in the world, she would stay home be- cause she loves Texas. During her free time, she loves playing with her dogs, listening to , kicking back, and watching movies. Her hobbies are shopping for shoes, solving jigsaw puzzles, and volun- teering for Hospice, an organization that cares for elderly people. She is not married and does not have any kids. However, she refers to her pets as her kids. Her dogs’ names are Libby, Toby, Sister, and Atti. She also has a cat named Biscuit. Her favorite childhood memory was when her baby brother was born. Her favorite subject to teach is Math. She loves to watch Pride and Glory because that is her favorite movie. The one person she looks up to the most is her mom.

Written By: April D. and Colton G.

Amanda Dawn Krueger is our new 8th grade science teacher here at Franklin Middle School. Before she came to Franklin she taught five years at the Dallas Zoo. Mrs. Krueger has always wanted to go to Africa because she really wants to go to the safari. Her favorite restaurant is Mi Cocina, and her favorite thing to order is the enchilada dinner. She has one pet, and he is a chameleon named Freddy. If she could be any animal she would be a tiger because they’re awesome. Her favorite sports team is the Aggies. She loves dancing and the outdoors. Her favorite childhood memory is traveling. She is married and has no kids. She chose to come to Franklin because she heard it was a good school district. Great choice, Mrs. Krueger! We’re glad you’re here! VOLUME IV, ISSUE I THE PAW PRINT PRESS PAGE 3

PAGE 9 THE PAW PRINT PRESS VOLUME IV, ISSUE I Counselor’s Corner

Howdy, FMS posse! Welcome back to a brand new school year. There’s a new sheriff in town. Yep, that’s me. Although I am not new to this campus, I do have a new duty in addition to my counseling & testing roles. I am now an official member of the 7th grade team. As Teen Leadership teacher, I am privileged to see ½ of our 7th grade students on a daily during 2nd and 6th periods. “Whoo.. oo.. oo doggie, ain’t them students lucky?”

Seriously, I love being in day- to- day contact with my 7th graders. Thanks to Mrs. Bryant, Mrs. Reagan, & Mrs. Urso, I will also be visiting all FMS students on a monthly basis via guidance lessons through their classes.

During an introductory visit to those classes, Sheriff “Marshall Dillon Wyatt Earp Wild Bill” Hamrick discussed living by the old “code of the west.” No written code ever existed among the pioneers and cowboys of this time period; yet MOST played by the unwritten rules that stressed self-reliance, accountability, and integrity. MOST chose to do what was right. Wouldn’t it be great if MOST FMS stu- dents applied this code to their lives at school?

During this school year, you will be given many opportunities - - - the opportunity to do what is right; the opportunity to go above and beyond your life; the opportunity to go the distance in helping others. In taking full advantage of these opportunities you will be that student who Brings it to, Encourages, and Supports the Team. “ I challenge each of you to challenge yourself to be the Best of FMS.

In being and doing your very best, you will encounter obstacles. Hopefully, you will look at each obstacle along your school “trail” as a challenge. Remember: “Your buckle don’t shine in the dirt, so get up!”

“Life is not about how fast you can run, or how high you can climb, but how well you bounce”.

With that said, lets “Cowboy Up” for another great year!

Tory Catherine W. is eleven years old and is in the sixth grade at Franklin mid- dle school. She has two siblings; a brother named Adam and a sister named Alex. Her goal for this year is to pass all of her classes with flying colors. She would like to be a pediatrician when she gets older because she has a passion for small children. Having her homework done and turned in on time is a must for Tory. After getting second place in the Robertson County Fair, she has enjoyed draw- ing in her spare time. When the fifth grade went to Galveston, Tory’s life was touched. Her favorite part was seeing and holding the turtles. She would love to be swimming in Galveston every moment of every day. Tory’s favorite animal is her puppy named Cena. Her brother, Adam, and Uncle Ashley mean the world to Tory. She couldn’t live without her cell phone. Staying in touch with family and friends is very im- portant to Tory. Before her time on earth is up she would like to travel to Las Vegas so that she can gamble.

Franklin Middle School student Steven Todd J. is thirteen years old. Todd is a 7th grader this year. He has two siblings; Cody who is nine years old and Hope who is two days old. Todd enjoys playing sports and roping in his spare time. If he could be any animal he would be a horse because he thinks they’re awesome. If Todd could travel anywhere he would go to Hawaii because of all the sites. If Todd could travel to the center of the earth he wouldn’t go because he doesn’t want to die. If Todd could be any color he would be blue be- cause it’s his favorite color. His favorite teacher this year is Mrs. Reagan. He likes her because she lets them do all the fun stuff. Todd loves to go to the County Fair because he shows pigs. Todd plays fullback and linebacker in football. If he could play another position he would play tailback. He also has three dogs and one horse for his variety of pets. If he could be in any movie he would be in Friday Night Lights. He would play the part of being on the football field. He wants to be in the movie because he thinks it’s fun.

Thirteen year old Dylan E. has lived in Franklin all his life. He has three brothers; Marshall who’s 17, Lane who’s 6, and Mason who’s 4. Some of his favorite hobbies are basketball and high jump be- cause he’s tall. If he could live anywhere in the world it would be Cleveland, Ohio because that’s the hometown of the Cavaliers. The easiest way for him to relax is to listen to his iPod. His favorite subject in school is science. Dylan would describe his personality as athletic, adventur- ous, and curious. If he could try anything in the world it would be the decathlon in the Olympics. His most favorite characteristic about himself is that he’s tall, which gives him an advantage in basketball. When he grows up he wants to be an Olympic high jumper. VOLUME IV, ISSUE I THE PAW PRINT PRESS PAGE 12
