The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples November 5-7 Naples, Florida

2014 FALL MEETING Message from the Chairman

imes are changing. The country is slowly rebounding Teconomically, as is the offshore energy industry. This year, the Administration opened the U.S.-Mexico transboundary area to exploration and opened the Atlantic to potential seismic surveys, hopefully resulting in much needed access outside the Gulf of Mexico. Despite political adversity, our country has responded with increased manufacturing and energy production, leading to an economically healthy America. As the Administration develops the next Five Year OCS Oil and Gas Leasing Program, our industry must remain steadfast and unified as we push for more access to the Outer Continental Shelf.

s we all know, the story of our industry is one that Americans support: increased Ajobs, increased economic potential and increased energy security. Our duty remains to forge ahead with our efforts, not just rest on our laurels, and continually improve safety procedures that keep pace with new technology pushing the limits of exploration. Our industry will have new problems to solve when confronting higher temperatures and higher pressure in deeper plays and challenging environmental conditions in frontier areas. Let’s continue spreading the message that the offshore energy industry is at the forefront of creating valuable, highly skilled jobs that apply the most advanced technologies in the world.

lease join us at NOIA’s 2014 Fall Meeting November 5-7 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf PResort, Naples, Florida to examine and discuss the future of our offshore energy industry. This meeting will feature notable political leaders, political strategists and top industry experts. This is lining up to be a great event that you will not want to miss. I look forward to seeing you there.

John T. Rynd Chairman, President & CEO Hercules Offshore Houston, TX 2014-2015 NOIA Chairman

Celinda and her firm are known for cutting-edge research on issues including the economy, health care, the environment and education, and have worked for a number of institutions including the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Governor’s Association (DGA), The White House Project, unions, environmental groups, Human Rights Campaign, EMILY’s List and the Kaiser Family Foundation. Celinda received her undergraduate degree from Smith College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

First Sergeant Matt Eversmann, US Army, Retired Hero of the Epic Film Black Hawk Down & the Battle of Mogadishu

Matthew Eversmann is a testament to the true nature of war and heroism. He was immortalized in the epic film Black Hawk Down (his character was played by Josh Hartnett), which tells the heroic account of a group of elite US soldiers sent into Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993 as part of a UN peacekeeping operation. Young Rangers and veteran Delta Force soldiers fought side by side, outnumbered and surrounded, for 18 hours in the most hostile district of Mogadishu until a rescue convoy could be mounted to retrieve them. As a part of that mission, both as a survivor and a hero, Eversmann brings to life the horrors of his experience, what he took from it, and humanizes the creed by which he lived: “Never shall I fail my comrades…RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!”

Eversmann enlisted in the Army as an infantryman in December 1987, and was stationed at Fort Drum, NY, with the 10th Mountain Division. In 1992, he reenlisted and arrived at Fort Benning, GA, for his assignment in the Third Battalion, Seventy Fifth Ranger Regiment. While serving as a sergeant in the Ranger Regiment, Matt traveled the world. In August of 1993, Matt and his company deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia, in support of Operation Gothic Serpent. For his service in Somalia, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor device and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

Eversmann returned to the US after serving 15 months in Iraq during the surge. He retired from the Army as an Infantry Company First Sergeant after 20 years of service. He is the Co-Executive Director of The COMMIT Foundation in Baltimore, which helps veterans find mentors in the workplace.
