We obviously do not claim that this list is complete. Since public transportation on Lanzarote is not exactly comfortable, and since you probably want to spend your holiday away from the large tourist settlements and therefore do not have access to organized bus tours, it is definitely recommended that you visit these locations in a rental car. Let yourself be inspired… In addition, you will here find some suggestions regarding holiday resorts, apartments and bungalows that might interest you for your next visit ?!?!?! Mirador del Rio (1) This is a lookout point, about 400 meters above the Atlantic, with a very beautiful architecture that was built into the rock by the artist and architect César Manrique. From here you have a great view of the small neighbouring islands and the ocean. There is also a cafeteria. Although this is a very touristy place, it is worth a visit. But only if the weather is fine and you can see far; otherwise it is a waste of the entrance fee... Jameos del Agua (2) This is one of the longest lava tunnels in the world, into which the architect and artist César Manrique has built an architectural installation that is worthwhile to see. There is also a small museum inside this facility telling the story of the origin of the cave, furthermore there is a restaurant and a swimming pool (see Foto) which one unfortunately no longer is permitted to use, and a concert hall that is integrated into the cave (!) Cueva de los Verdes (3) Approx. 500 meters above the cave Los Jameos del Agua, there is another entrance into the same tunnel. Guided tours take you into an ingeniously lit labyrinth of caves that have been made accessible for a length of 1,000 meters. At the end of it there is even a small concert hall in which concerts are occasionally organized. There are further accesses into the cave system, but they cannot be recommended. Jardín de Cactus (4) César Manrique has created a garden with innumerable cacti in an old quarry near Guatiza, from which the so-called "Cantos" (stones that formerly were used to build the houses) used to be cut out. In addition, there is a historic windmill on the property that is still functioning and that was in motion from time to time a few years ago, but this is no longer the case. There is, of course, a cafeteria and a souvenir shop. copyright © by charcodelpalo.com Page 3 Restaurant recommendations for Arrieta, Costa Teguise and Orzola

copyright © by charcodelpalo.com Page 4 Los Charcones (10) The beauty of the place can not be captured with the camera, you must have been there by yourself, and have seen that, and also swam there. The pool shown here is also just one of many natural pools on this stretch of coastline. The Charcones, this is really one of the last secrets of Lanzarote! They are in the south of Lanzarote, and you have to do a short walk of an hour or so to get there and to join any of these beautiful places. Marina Lanzarote Arrecife (20) It is truly worth taking a look at the new new Marina Lanzarote in Arrecife! In addition to a wide range of different types of restaurants and bars as well as shops, you can of course see boats! The large cruise ships also dock there when they visit Lanzarote. And since the port is almost located in the center of Arrecife, it is worth doing a shutdown there, walking alongside the Charco de San Ginés bay to access the center of Arrecife. Puerto Calero (6) In Puerto Calero, one of the most exclusive of all the , the marina is a center of attraction, not only for sailors and motorboat owners, but also for regular vacationers, who also get their money's worth here. Whether shopping, eating, making excursions with the submarine or with the large sailing catamaran "Catlanza" or visiting the whale museum, you can have a great time here against the backdrop of a sailing harbour. Marina Rubicon (8) The newly built Marina Rubicon is also worth a visit. The sailing harbour has been integrated into a newly built district, in which there are shops, bars and restaurants - an absolutely wonderful work of architecture. A visit there can be well integrated into a tour of the southern part of the island, for example to the "Fire Mountains”, El Golfo, or Playa Quemada and the wine-growing area La Geria. This harbour is also a starting point of Yachtcharter.

In the beautiful and very small seaside resort of Charco del Palo with its naturist beach we can offer you a number of very different apartments, bungalows and houses, for example in the first row facing the ocean, with a beautiful view of the Atlantic as well as a swimming pool. They are suited for 2 to 6 persons, approx. 40 - 100 eur / day (2 persons). Tel. (+34) 625 182163 http://apartments.charcodelpalo.com copyright © by charcodelpalo.com Page 5 Timanfaya National Park (11) The Timanfaya National Park (”Fire Mountains”), with its surreal-looking volcanic landscape, is located in the southern part of the island. According to the Park, these volcanic eruptions, which stem from the 18th and 19th century, constitute the largest known amounts of lava that have been ejected during volcanic eruptions, covering approx. 25% of the entire surface of the island. The facility at the center of the park was designed by César Manrique. Famara Beach (12) Famara Beach is one of the most beautiful and wild beaches on the island. It belongs to the so-called Chinijo Archipelago, which includes also e.g. The small neighbouring island of La Graciosa, which is clearly visible from the beach. The place is very popular among surfers, but it is also excellently suited for long walks along the beach, after which one can stop off in Caleta. Attention: red flags = bathing prohibited!

Our apartments, houses and bungalows in Famara are situated approx. 150 meters above this beautiful and wild sandy beach of Famara and have a splendid view on the Atlantic. They all have great facilities, sun terraces, fully equipped kitchens and much more. They are suited for 2 to 4 persons, approx. 48 - 65 eur / day (2 persons). Tel. Markets Lanzarote The most famous and largest market on Lanzarote is the Sunday market in Teguise (13), always from approx. 10 AM to 2 PM, with an immense number of people and a huge assortment of goods. The small market on Saturdays in Haria (15) is a pure handicraft market (also open from 10 AM to 2 PM). Finally the market in Costa Teguise (14), which is open on Fridays from 6 PM to 10 PM in the “Pueblo Marinero”, is a great way to spend the evening. Wine on Lanzarote Lanzarote has a long and great tradition of wine growing, and it is done in quite an unusual way. In the wine growing area La Geria (16), one can study how the "Viñas", as the vine plants are called in Spanish, grow. But it is not only the large bodegas, such as Stratvs and El Grifo that are worth a visit; there are many small winegrowers that make their own original Lanzarote wine, as can be seen in a small bodega in the northern part of the island. All information without guarantee! Page 7 Arrieta and Punta Mujeres are two villages in the northern part of Lanzarote, located right on the seafront that have largely been spared from tourism and have remained intact. Here, too, you can choose between several different apartments and bungalows. They are suited for 2 to 6 persons, approx. 36 - 65 eur / day (2 persons). Tel. (+34) 625 182163 http://apartments.charcodelpalo.com

La Graciosa (19) If you have the time, you should definitely visit the small neighbouring island of La Graciosa. The ferry docks several times a day in Orzola (18) (e.g. depart for La Graciosa at 10 AM and return at 4 PM) and the crossing takes about 20 minutes. Once you are there you encounter an entirely different world. There are only two villages on La Graciosa, of which one is uninhabited, a few restaurants, a port, and otherwise only beaches and sunshine... Playa Quemada (23) Playa Quemada means "burnt beach" in Spanish and it is named for the black sand and the black rocks that can be found there, and also for the burning sun on the southern coast of Lanzarote Island. Playa Quemada is a tiny village that has largely been spared from tourists and it is a real insider tip. We recommend the second restaurant on the left as you enter the village, right on the water's edge to have a great meal of fresh fish.

We can also offer you beautiful fincas with great views in the countryside, located in the small farmer's village of Mala, in Haría, the valley of the 1,000 palms, as well as in Yaiza in the south. Some have a view of the Alantic, some have a swimming pool and some are very inexpensive. Suited for 2 to 6 persons, approx. 49 - 85 eur / day (2 persons). Tel. (+34) 625 182163 http://apartments.charcodelpalo.com

We also provide luxury bungalows with excellent facilities in prominent locations in La Asomada. They have a great panoramic view of large parts of the island and over the ocean, all the way to Fuerteventura. Some also have a heated jacuzzi on the terrace. Here, all your needs are fulfilled! Suited for 2 persons, approx. 130 - 169 eur / day for the 2 persons. Tel. (+34) 625 182163 http://apartments.charcodelpalo.com copyright © by charcodelpalo.com Page 8
