Great Interest for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 — Bugatti Newsroom Great Interest for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 GENEVA 28 02 2006 FOLLOWING ITS PRESENTATION AT THE END OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR, THE NEW BUGATTI VEYRON 16.4 SUPER SPORTS CAR HAS SET OFF A WAVE OF EXCEPTIONALLY POSITIVE REACTIONS FROM CUSTOMERS. Following its presentation at the end of the previous year, the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 super sports car has set off a wave of exceptionally positive reactions from customers. The orders received up to now have already covered the production planned for 2006 At its various public appearances, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 has caused a sensation in all important markets and has convinced customers from the Far East, the Middle East, the United States, and of course Europe with its unrivalled capabilities. In setting up a worldwide customer service and support network, Bugatti’s related services have top priority. As of now, Bugatti has over twenty “Authorized Bugatti Partners for Sales and Service”, their number and geographical locations having been defined by the priority allotted to the respective markets. It is therefore no wonder that the United States, without a doubt the most important market for the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, heads the list of Bugatti’s contact points. Coming in after the United States are the most important European markets, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland and France. The company’s headquarters are located in Molsheim, France. In Japan, a country which is also one of the leading buyers of luxury vehicles, customers receive support in Tokyo. At present Bugatti sales and service centres in Dubai and Doha are responsible for customers in Arabian countries. In the near future, Bugatti partners will also feature in other potential markets, for instance in China. The company’s policy, however, is that Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. does not supply vehicles to countries where customers do not have access to official support. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 has more than justified its period of development by bringing forth a perfect product. This fascinating super sports car, outstanding in every respect, is a prototype for state-of-the-art technology and for the potentials of automobile manufacturing – a true giant on the market. After 50 years, Bugattis are once again rolling out of Molsheim – Ettore Bugatti, the creator of this legendary marque, would be proud indeed! Bugatti Veyron 16.4: High-Performance Technology with Effortless Handling Inside: A high level of functionality packaged with assured style The factory is busy. For a few weeks now, the first specimens of the most exciting sports car of our times have been nearing completion at the “studio” of Château St. Jean. Their place of birth is Molsheim in Alsace, the corporate headquarters of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. The first of these Bugatti Veyron 16.4 models are to be handed over to customers as early as this month. When you sit down in this exceptional sports car, you are welcomed by an interior that doesn’t really have anything in common with those of other contemporary high-performance sports cars. Instead of a cockpit with spartan fittings, you find an ambience that oozes style – a style which could not be any more exclusive – in the fastest series-built sports car in the world. This all comes down to the functional interior design, which is set off with precious materials and which complies with the intentions of the development team to offer an operating concept with unique aesthetic, haptic and sensual qualities. Leather, Alcantara and polished aluminium have all been used to achieve this. The surfaces facing the driver and passenger are designed in different nuances which are reminiscent of historic Bugatti automobiles and which underscore the high technical quality of the vehicle. An example of this is the brushed aluminium “engineturn“ finish of the middle console. In addition to this, the accentuated finish of glistening aluminium and fragrant leather that features in the most powerful series-built automobile in the world, leaves you in no doubt that it is possible to combine top-performance, dynamic driving with a luxurious and stylish means of travel. Following the latest ergonomic findings, the driver’s workplace focuses solely on the driver. You either sit on comfortable, electrically adjustable seats or in lightweight carbon-fibre shell seats with a manually adjustable backrest. The instrument panel, with its large, centrally positioned rev counter, is situated in the driver’s line of vision. It is flanked by two medium-sized, easy-to-read, round instruments: the speedometer on the right and a new kind of engine performance display on the left. Unique in the automobile industry, this instrument is scaled into increments of 100. The highest reading corresponds with the top engine output of 1,001 hp. In this way, the driver is kept constantly informed about the current level of performance as well as the available power reserves. Two smaller round instruments are positioned at the edges of the dashboard: a fuel gauge to the right and an engine oil temperature gauge to the left. A radio-controlled remote door-locking system is integrated into the ignition key of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. This key has a bit which is used to switch on the ignition in a conventional lock on the right of the steering column. The W16 mid-engine is started by pressing a button in the middle console. And as the needle on the rev counter begins to race, so does the driver’s heartbeat. One of the special features of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is a second key which is used to release the power necessary to obtain the unmatched top speed of 407 km/h. It fits into a red-lined lock between the driver’s seat and the door sill. All of the operational elements of the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 are positioned where the driver expects to find them. The indicators are activated by the lever on the left-hand side of the steering column, while its counterpart on the right controls the various speed intervals of the windscreen wipers. The rotary switch for the headlights is set into the left-hand side of the dashboard. It is made of the same polished aluminium as the rotary switches in the middle console. Once you touch them, you don’t want to let them go. The middle console also contains two fresh air flow jets above which the clock is positioned. Clearly visible between these two jets is the red button for the hazard warning signals. Beneath this, two large rotary dials have been positioned in such a way that they can be reached equally well by the driver and passenger. The upper one operates the audio system and the lower one controls the air conditioning. The displays in the middle of each of these two dials show clearly the selected function. The entire operating concept follows a distinct layout principle. All switches, levers and buttons are arranged intuitively into functional groups. The CD slot is situated between the two large dials, because in spite of the high entertainment value of its unique drive technology, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 also aspires to pander to the musical tastes of its occupants, especially on longer journeys. This is ensured by the first car hi-fi system with individual volume adjustment for each seat. In harmony with the classically designed details and loving finish of the top-quality materials, the interior of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 develops into an overall work of art of great maturity. You climb into this highperformance sports car and drive off into the distance without requiring any instructions. The gear lever is perfectly positioned in the central tunnel within easy reach of the driver’s hand. It is designed as a joystick and is situated on the same functional level as the steering wheel. You can drive in the fully automatic mode of this seven-speed transmission or select the gear directly. This can be achieved with the joystick or with the shifting levers that are situated behind the steering wheel. The innovative direct-shift transmission of this exceptional sports car has two electro-hydraulically controlled clutches which shift the gears at lightning speed without any interruptions in power delivery. The five-stage regulators for the seat heating, a switch to activate the launch control and another switch for manual intervention in the handling configuration of the running gear and aerodynamic management system of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 are positioned around the gear lever. The high-gloss aluminium switches are cut from a solid block. The eyes of the Bugatti passenger are also drawn towards the immaculate surface of the leather-covered dashboard, where they can only guess under which section the passenger airbag is concealed, because the customary seam in the leather has been dispensed with here to ensure a perfect finish. Here’s what Albert Finkbeiner, the responsible designer, has to say about the high standard of the interior: “Because we prefer to use the highest quality standards, solutions which appeared impossible up to now have been realized“. For your safety: Lots of different systems work in the background Numerous innovations used for the first time in the modern automobile industry are at work where you cannot see them. They enhance the intelligent lightweight construction and do all justice to the high safety standards of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. Weighing only five kilogrammes, the on-board network is a part of this. It comprises 2.7 kilometres of cable wrapped in high-strength, extra-light fibreglass which permits the very small bending radii that the compact construction of this high-performance sports car promotes.

  • The Lost Bugatti
BUGATTI DIATTO AVIO 8C WORDS CLAUDE TEISEN-SIMONY & DAVID LILLYWHITE ARCHIVE PICTURES BUGATTI TRUST A mysterious chassis fitted with a one-off Bugatti aero engine, discovered in a Turin museum, turns out to have links to a famous pilot and to Maserati’s first car. But could it also have been the first step towards the super-luxury Bugatti Royale saloon? The lost Bugatti 90 / MAGNETO MAGNETO / 91 BUGATTI DIATTO AVIO 8C T This is one hell of a tale. It’s controversial at times, it brings in threads involving World War One fighter pilot Roland Garros, surprising links to Maserati, and the likely origins of not just Bugatti’s Grand Prix engines, but also the legendary Bugatti Royale. Most exciting of all, it introduces a remarkable aero-engined Bugatti that’s never been seen before. To whet your appetite, it’s a 14.5-litre and develops 250bhp at 2160rpm – Bugatti’s equivalent of the ‘Beast of Turin’ Fiat or the Benz-engined Scariscrow. Crucially, a large proportion of it is original, rescued from decades in hiding by a legendary Bugatti expert before moving on to its current owner. It’s been painstakingly researched, restored and part-recreated in secret by craftsmen in Denmark and the Czech Republic. To all but a select few, its existence remained unknown until its big reveal at the Rétromobile show in Paris on February 6. So, how did we get to this point? Let’s start with the engine, because actually it’s more important than the car itself in many ways. The story begins with French pilot Roland Garros, who in 1913 made the first-ever non-stop flight across the Mediterranean, flying a fast Morane-Saulnier monoplane.

Bugatti enthusiasts and owners worldwide dream of having all three vehicles complete in their own collection as “the trilogy of modern Bugatti”. They are both coveted collector’s items and an investment. All three models came together for a photo shoot – unique photos of a collection which rarely exists in the world. Bugatti EB110 Super Sport At the beginning of the 1990s, Romano Artioli created the first super sports car of modern times with the EB110. EB are the initials of Ettore Bugatti, while 110 stands for his 110th birthday. At the presentation in Paris on 15 September 1991 – on Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday – Bugatti revealed a vehicle featuring sensational technology: the lightweight monocoque weighs just 125 kilograms, and is the first series-production car to be made of carbon. Aluminium and carbon, among other things, are used for the body, the wheels are cast from magnesium, and the bolts are made of titanium. The car is powered by a 3.5-litre V12 mid-engine with four turbochargers and a maximum engine speed of 8,250 rpm. Sixty valves ensure fast gas exchange, while the four turbochargers operate with a boost pressure of between 1.05 and 1.2 bar and reduce the turbo lag to a minimum.

  • Bugatti: with Our History at Heart and Our Eyes on the Future
Bugatti: with our history at heart and our eyes on the future Bugatti celebrates its 110th anniversary with two world premieres at Geneva Motor Show Molsheim, 5 March 2019. What a start to an anniversary year. At the first major international motor show in 2019, Bugatti is presenting two world premieres. At the Geneva Motor Show, the French luxury brand is showing the hyper sports car “La Voiture Noire1“ and the Chiron Sport “110 ans Bugatti”. The special edition of the Chiron Sport , which is being produced in a limited series of 20 cars, celebrates the brand’s 110th anniversary as well as its French identity. However, the highlight will be the unveiling of “La Voiture Noire”, which had been kept secret up to the beginning of the show. This is a homage to the legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic. This one-off grand tourisme has already been sold and is the world’s most expensive new car, at €11 million. “In 2019, we are celebrating a special anniversary. Bugatti was established 110 years ago. These two models pay homage to our long tradition and to our French homeland,” says Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann. The third model on the Bugatti stand is also in line with this approach: the Bugatti Divo2, is a hyper sports car which is being produced in a limited edition of 40 vehicles. With its modified aerodynamics, it is designed for even higher lateral acceleration than the Chiron3 and ensures extreme driving pleasure. With “La Voiture Noire“, the French luxury automobile brand has once again shown that it produces the world’s most precious and exclusive hyper sports cars.
