EMINESCU and ROMANIAN NATION VASILE CÂNDEA This Is The
EMINESCU AND ROMANIAN NATION VASILE CÂNDEA Abstract. This opening speech emphasizes the plurality of preoccupations of a complex Romanian personality, the Romanian national poet, journalist, philosopher and publicist, and among these the manner of conceiving the evolution of Romanian nationality in relation to the western European civilisation of the time. Eminescu meditated at the status of the Romanian nation and at the Romanian civilisation, with attention for the affirmation of the national values, for the consolidation of the cultural unity of all Romanians and for the accomplishment of the Romanian national state, within its ethnical borders. Key words: Eminescu, Romanian nation, Romanian civilisation. This is the opening of the symposium on Eminescu of the Department of Philosophy, Theology, Psychology and Journalism of the Academy of Romanian Scientists at the occasion of the commemoration of 122 years since the death of the “unpaired poet” another great poet, Nichita Stănescu titled him. For me, of an entirely different trade, seems an impiety to express authorised opinions concerning the work of this giant of the Romanian literature and culture. Eminescu’s work was the subject of numerous studies, commentaries, analyses and interpretations signed by various personalities with resonance in the history of Romanian culture such as: Titu Maiorescu, Garabet Ibrăileanu, Nicolae Iorga, Eugen Lovinescu, Perpessicius, I. Negoiţescu, Petru Creţia, Acad. Dan Berindei, Acad. Alexandru Surdu, Ilie Bădescu, Svetlana Paleologu-Matta, C. Schifirneţ, etc. It seems that once he was labelled as a “genius poet”, the rest of his work slipped into the shadows, as it happened for instance with his journalistic work, expressing a manner of thinking and understanding the world through particular ideas and visions, entirely original. -

Abstract: Romania is known among the main European honey producers, due to the variety of landforms as well as the diversity of the flora. Thirty-four honey samples of the acacia, linden and multifloral types, produced in eastern Romania and collected during 2013–2018, were physico- chemically analyzed using methods provided by the national and EU standards. The results of water-insoluble solids, color and refractive index were found to be 0.023–0.131%, 0.3–76.4 mm Pfund and 1.485–1.499, respectively. The moisture content ranged between 15.20% and 20.77%, solid substances content ranged between 79.23% and 84.80% and total soluble substances content ranged between 77.83 ◦Brix and 83.26 ◦Brix. The obtained values of specific gravity were from 1.414 to 1.450 g/cm3, pH ranged from 3.673 to 5.503 and free acidity ranged between 2.4 meq and 50 meq kg−1. The ash content and the electrical conductivity varied between 0.030 and 0.543% and 130 and 679 µS cm−1, respectively. Pearson0s correlation analysis showed an intense association of the ash content with electrical conductivity (r = 0.81). -

In the same time the Romanian Cultural World would have liked to be recognized in Europe bringing its contribution to achieving some cultural centers in the period between wars. It is the period when Romania expressed itself strongly from the political and civilization point of view establishing its stability role in the South-East of Europe. The intellectuals consider that Romania should be recognized from the cultural point of view in order to support the information changes and European harmony. In 1911, an initiative is taken to open a Culture Institute at Bucharest dedicated to the south-east european issues. Those who took the initiative were Nicolae Iorga, Vasile Pârvan and G. Murgoci, in 1914 and their goal was to study this part of Europe taking into account the old traditions and Romanian present interests. The Romanian Researchers have considered an important connection to Italy because of both countries’ latin root. The first attempt of establishing such institution took place in 1914, but because of the war, the idea was abandoned. There were new attempts in 1917and 1918. In 1920, Nicolae Iorga, as a deputy, proposed a law to found Romanian Superior Schools: one of Archeological Studies and the other of History and Filology and Belle Arte at Rome and Paris. -

EU Habitats Directive habitats cover over 50% of the area, with many associated Habitats and Birds Directives fauna and flora species. The problem: the biodiversity of this landscape is under immediate threat from abandonment and intensification, and also from lack of recognition: semi-natural landscapes are under-represented in Romania’s protected areas network. Project purpose: halt loss of biodiversity in the area. -
DUILIU ZAMFIRESCU Maree/A Guţu

Hídverők Példamutatása
ENGEL KÁROLY Hídverők példamutatása „Ha már felragyogott a nap első sugára, vajon meddig fog érni..." — köszön tötte Emil Isac a két világháború közötti korszak egyik magyar fordításban megje lent román költői antológiáját, amelyet a románok és magyarok között szövődő kap csolatok jelentős állomásának tekintett. A szónoki kérdés formájában parafrazált Shakespeare-idézet azonban ma sem vesztett időszerűségéből, mikor a Romániai Magyar Irodalmi Lexikon szerkesztésé vel az elmúlt fél évszázad hazai magyar művelődési törekvéseinek minden eddiginél átfogóbb szintézisére készülünk. Mennyire feledésbe ment például azoknak erőfeszítése, akik „a hajnal emberei" módjára, mihelyt a fegyverbe öltözött Európa előtt felderengett a béke remény sugára, a gyűlöletbe béklyózott lelkek felszabadításán kezdtek munkálkodni. -
Paradoxes of Occidentalism: on Travel and Travel Writing in Ceauşescu's
CHAPTER ELEVEN PARADOXES OF OCCIDENTALISM: ON TRAVEL AND TRAVEL WRITING IN CeauşesCu’s ROMANIA* Can we talk about a unitary Romanian image of the West in the Cold War period? Any investigation of ‘the image of the other’ needs to spec- ify the range and nature of sources, as well as the limits of the source base. The few existing studies on Romanian views of the outside world under the communist regime tend to treat the early (pre-1965) period and stress the negative light in which the West was portrayed in official pro- paganda as against an idealised private view.1 The most detailed study of ideology in Ceauşescu’s Romania, while offering a highly complex and nuanced interpretation, maintains nonetheless that in 1970s and 1980s Romania ‘to be against the regime had become synonymous with being pro- European, whereas Ceauşescu and those in factions more or less allied with him ranted against Western imports and the Europeanising oblitera- tion of the national soul’.2 Here I use a previously neglected type of source, namely published and unpublished accounts of travel to western Europe and the wider world in the period 1948–1989, to suggest a slightly different line of thinking about the public image of the West in late communist Romania.3 Short of a com- plete survey, I have laid emphasis on establishing a base of materials so that research may develop in different directions henceforth. Examina- tion of several of these accounts suggests that the pronounced develop- ment of a strong national ideology under Ceauşescu was not necessarily incompatible with writing extensively about western Europe or even with the production of a pro-European discourse, often by the same writers. -
