Bruce wanted to make a world record of the fastest ship because it would make him more money by having more people want to ride his ship. That night only one ninth of the ice burg was showing above water. The look out was too late to see the ice burg in the water. The captain turned sharply and reversed the engine but he was too late. The

Titanic hit and scratched the whole side of the

Titanic. Read on to see what happened after it got hit.

7 What happened after the Titanic got hit?

After the Titanic hit the , it left a 300 foot slash on the side of the ship. A lot of water filled the bottom of the ship. People started to wonder what was going on because the ship was tilting. People panicked and rushed to the lifeboats because they wanted to save themselves. Screams and shouts came from the deck. The weight of the water filled the bow of the ship, and eventually it slipped under water and tilted the ship till it was almost vertical. When the Titanic started disappearing from the surface it broke into two pieces. The Titanic took about three hours to sink.

They started to load people into the lifeboats. The command was, “Woman and children first!” Only when there was no woman or children around were men allowed on. But these were woman and children were from the first and second class only. Most of the 3rd class died. This happened because they locked the 3rd class down stairs. How mean is that! The lifeboats were filled with about 30 people, but were supposed to fit about 80. The crew was worried the pulleys would snap so they did not fill the boats. All the life boats together were suppose to hold 926 people in all but sadly, they didn't, only 705 people were saved. 1,502 people died that night Be thankful you were not on the titanic .
