Tonight, we celebrate a tradition at Le Bernardin Privé and present an exceptional live auction, incredible food and wine, and a soirée with our captivating young artists. Teaching young, talented musicians is a delicate and involved process, similar to properly storing the perfect wine. Just as different wines develop at their own individual pace, so do aspiring young musicians. No matter the time frame, when nurtured properly, like good wine, our students only get better with age. -
7 Napa Wineries to Visit
BY KATIE SWEENEY HauteDRINKS 1881 Napa is a new tasting room and wine museum 7 NAPA WINERIES TO VISIT NOW Heading to wine country? Here is our guide to the best tastings, experiences, and not-to-be-missed vineyards ASK ANYONE WHO WORKS IN NAPA’S WINE INDUSTRY WHAT MAKES THE Jean-Charles valley unique and you’ll get a wide variety of answers, from climate and Boisset topography to winemaking techniques and grape varietals. With tempera- tures varying from one end to the other by 15 degrees, vineyards ranging in elevation from sea level to 2,600 feet, 12 different types of soil, and 34 distinct grape varietals, it is one of the most diverse grape-growing regions in the world. Napa Valley is also a relatively small area: it’s 30 miles long and five miles wide. There are 700 grape growers, more than 1000 differ- ent wine brands, and 475 physical wineries. These are staggering numbers for a consumer looking to taste the best wine, but that’s one of the things that makes the valley so exciting. You can visit Napa time and again and always discover something new. Here, Haute Living spotlights seven winer- ies, some old and some new, that should be on your radar right now. Book an experience at any of these places, and you won’t be disappointed. No matter where you go, you’ll find a passion for making great wine, a sense of community, and extreme respect for the land. 18 1881 NAPA If there is anyone who can put together a new wine brand in less than six months, it’s Jean-Charles Boisset. -
The Robert M. Parker Wine Cellar
The Robert M. Parker Wine Cellar The Robert M. Parker Wine Cellar is named in honor of the man often considered to be the world’s foremost wine authority, a born and bred Baltimorean. The Robert M. Parker Cellar is primarily focused on special, superb small production American wines, although we also have a broad selection of many very fine vintages from around the world. Our goal is to offer unique labels with which one may not ordinarily be familiar. In doing so, we endeavor to support those artisans who are striving to create exceptional wines. Most, but not all, of our wines have been rated in the Wine Advocate by Mr. Parker and are so noted. There are simply too many wines to rate them all, however our sommeliers have carefully selected, tasted and approved each and every wine new to our list. Upstairs at The Ivy offers our Parker 100 Cellar-an ever-growing list of wines rated 99-100 points. “There are few things more enjoyable than a fine meal and a fine wine shared with friends and comrades who love to experience life as it is meant to be.” Robert Parker Although Mr. Parker is a frequent dinner guest at Magdalena he always pays full price. There is no financial remuneration or other relationship whatsoever between the parties. Mr. Parker has authorized us to use his name; we are the only restaurant or wine cellar in the world so permitted. 2 Table of Contents Wine by the Glass 4 Large Format 5 Half Bottles 6 Sparkling Wines 7 Prestige Cuvée Champagnes 8 Mevushal Wines 8 Rosé Wines of the World 9 Domestic White 9 California Chardonnay -
