08 February 2010 15 February 2017 WE’VE GOT SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT… BONNIE RAITT COMES TO QPAC FOR HER DIG IN DEEP TOUR SUPPORTED BY THE CALIFORNIA HONEYDROPS Ten-time Grammy® Award Winner Bonnie Raitt, will make her debut performance at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC’s) Concert Hall as part of her Dig In Deep Tour for one-night only on Wednesday 12 April 2017. More than a best-selling artist, respected guitarist, expressive singer and accomplished songwriter, Bonnie Raitt has become an institution in American Music. This QPAC concert offers Queensland audiences the first chance to see the acclaimed artist since she supported Bob Dylan in Brisbane in 1992. Dig In Deep (2016) is Raitt’s twentieth and latest album and follows the release of her top-selling and 2012 Grammy® Award-winning album, Slipstream. On tour, Raitt will be joined by her long time touring band: James ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson (bass), Ricky Fataar (drums), George Marinelli (guitar), and Mick Finnigan (keyboards). Since the release of Slipstream, Raitt has performed over 200 shows in the United States and abroad, including a sold-out concert at Boston's Fenway Park with James Taylor. Her powerful chemistry with this band creates a magic that has been described as "exquisite" (Chicago Tribune) and "perfect" (Boston Globe). "I'm feeling pretty charged, and the band and I are at the top of our game," says Bonnie Raitt. "This period of my life is more exciting and vital than I was expecting, and for that I'm really grateful. At this point, I have a lot less to prove and hey, if you're not going to 'Dig In Deep' now, what's the point?" In the late '60s, Raitt moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts where she majored in Social Relations and African Studies at Harvard/Radcliffe. Raitt was already deeply involved with folk music and the blues at that time. Exposure to the album 'Blues at Newport 1963' at age 14 had kindled her interest in blues and slide guitar, and between classes at Harvard she explored these and other styles in local coffeehouse gigs. Three years after entering college, Bonnie left to commit herself full-time to music, and shortly afterward found herself opening for surviving giants of the blues, including Mississippi Fred McDowell, Sippie Wallace, Son House, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker. She released her self-titled debut album, Bonnie Raitt, in 1971 after being signed by Warner Bros. for her soulful, unaffected way of singing and uncanny insights into blues guitar. Her Nick of Time album (1989) earned the songstress three Grammy® Awards in 1990, and she won another award for a duet with fellow American singer John Lee Hooker. The album rose all the way to the top of the charts, selling four million copies. In 1991, Raitt and producer Don Was struck platinum again with Luck of the Draw, winning more Grammy Awards and critical accolades. Her hit singles on this album “Something to Talk About" and "I Can't Make You Love Me" sold more than eight million copies in the United States. Cont… …2 Throughout her career, Raitt has consistently used her influence to affect the way music is perceived and appreciated in the world, with the release of Dig In Deep allowing her to continually personify what it means to stay creative, adventurous, and daring. Audiences are set to marvel at the delicate balance of consistency and risk- taking that has defined Bonnie’s remarkable career for more than 45 years. Opening for Raitt for her QPAC concert will be The California Honeydrops, a five- piece ensemble which doesn’t just play music, they throw parties. Led by dynamic vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Lech Wierzynski, and drawing on diverse musical influences from Bay Area R&B, funk, Southern soul, Delta blues, and New Orleans second-line, the California Honeydrops are renowned for bringing vibrant energy and infectious dance-party vibes to their shows. The California Honeydrops have taken their party all over the world: on nine European tours, featured slots at premiere festivals such as Monterey Jazz, High Sierra, and Outside Lands, and recent performances supporting B.B. King, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, and Allen Toussaint. This concert is a not-to-be-missed experience as Bonnie Raitt supported by The California Honeydrops take on the acclaimed acoustics of QPAC’s Concert Hall on Wednesday 12 April 2017. To book go to qpac.com.au or phone 136 246. -ENDS- But that voice still has its gale-force power, and onstage its owner still had that signature, self-possessed strut and that winding, snaking bottleneck-slide sound that is like no other player’s. Boston Globe Full of blues-rock swagger ... Dig In Deep is her most personal record in years. Rolling Stone Well known as one of the greatest slide guitarists of all time, Raitt did not disappoint. Her playing was brilliant — smooth and slinky to gritty and dirty. Oakland Press But they roared with applause and shouts, gave at least three standing ovations and generally celebrated what was flawless and rocking performance by one of the music industry’s most beloved elder stateswomen. • Sweet and Dirty a Collaboration of Sweet Brenda and Dirty Red Band Bios
Sweet and Dirty A collaboration of Sweet Brenda and Dirty Red Band Bios When Dirty Red – Eric McDaniel – leader of modern day powerhouse band, Dirty Red and the Soul Shakers invited legendary Oklahoma Blues Singer, Sweet Brenda – Bren Severson – on stage the first time to sit in with the band, a lightning bolt of electricity melded them together and shot their sound and energy into an unsuspecting blues audience that soaked it up like fireball whiskey on freaky Saturday night. From that moment this energetic collaboration has caused quite a stirring in the blues scene. Both musicians have made a name for themselves across the blues nation with experience and expertise that speaks for itself. When all of that is combined with the background and expertise of the rest of the band, a stage full of all-stars is born. Besides the giant personalities of Dirty Red and Sweet Brenda, the scary tight rhythm section of Cliff the “Iron Man” Belcher and Forrest Worrell, both of Watermelon Slim and the Workers fame, and the lonesome but ripping tasty blues guitar of Big Robb Hibbard, former lead for Miss Blues and the Blue Notes, put the icing on the cake. Add to all of that, the fact that Dirty Red and Sweet Brenda both write all the songs with soulful and pertinent lyrics written for all people, and a jolting beat that never stops, the dance floor is full and crazy, the room is packed with a punch of energy and the blues appetite is wildly satisfied. Sweet and Dirty is a collaboration of blues monsters bragging over 130 years of performance altogether culminating into this fabulous high- energy show.

Meditative Story Transcript – Kaywin Feldman Click here to listen to the full Meditative Story episode with Kaywin Feldman. KAYWIN FELDMAN: I don’t even change my clothes. I just head out to make it there in time. It’s close to the center of town, so I don’t have to walk far. I pay my entrance fee and walk in. There are hardly any visitors. The chapel is small and attached to a monastery. The building itself is tall but nothing terribly special. But suddenly I see it: Every inch of wall, floor to ceiling, is painted with a narrative cycle. The first thing I notice is the stillness. I can’t even hear my sneakers on the stone floor. It’s cool inside. Then the glow. The whole room, even the arched ceiling, glows lapis blue from the paint. Inside this still room, my body stills, too. I am in need of sanctuary, and here it is. It feels safe, sacred. It lets me emotionally and intellectually clear my mind, so that I can really look at the frescoes. I’m hardly breathing. My heart rate slows. I can feel my mouth open as I take in the room. ROHAN GUNATILLAKE: Kaywin Feldman grew up in a military family, and her childhood memories are dominated by visits to art museums in the various cities and towns where her family moved. You might say she was destined to become a museum director, and at the young age of 28, she achieves just that. Today, Kaywin presides over the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.

SPI Podcast Session #46 – Building a Lucrative Business with No Ideas, No Expertise & No Money With Dane Maxwell Show notes at: http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/session46 This is the Smart Passive Income podcast with Pat Flynn, session #46! Alright, you got this one. Announcer: Welcome to the Smart Passive Income podcast, where it's all about working hard now so you can sit back and reap the benefits later. And now your host; he was born in Connecticut and for some crazy reason, he misses the winter, Pat Flynn! Pat: Sometimes. Sometimes I miss the winter. I mean, 75 all year long is great, but sometimes you've just got to mix it up, which is exactly what we're going to do today. My name is Pat Flynn, welcome to session 46 of the Smart Passive Income Podcast. I'm super-stoked to be hanging out with you today, so let's get right into today's content! Like I said, we're mixing things up today because we're bringing on a guest who approaches online business a little differently than most people do, at least here in the solopreneur space. A lot of people who teach this online business stuff, including myself, talk about picking a topic of interest, preferably something you're passionate about or at least are very interested in, and then becoming an expert at it and sharing that knowledge with others who would consider you an expert just because you know a little bit more than they do. And really, that's all it takes to become an expert.

Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue Produced by Dennis Wilson & Gregg Jakobson Released August 22, 1977 - Caribou PZ 34354 (CBS) Pacific Ocean Blue - Legacy Edition Originial Recordings Produced by Dennis Wilson & Gregg Jakobson Bonus Tracks Produced by Dennis Wilson, John Hanlon & Gregg Jakobson Executive Producer: James William Guercio Released June 17, 2008 - Caribou/Epic/Legacy 88697-07916-2 (Sony/BMG) Disc One Dennis Wilson had always been considered the quintessential "Beach Boy": not in a musical sense (that, of course, was Brian), but in a lifestyle sense. His love of surfing inspired the others to adopt the image that launched the band, and his further adventures in the worlds of fast cars, fast bikes, and fast women continued to fuel the imagination and song catalog of his older brother and cousin. But in the first five or six years of their career, his musical contributions were limited to drumming and singing backup (and sometimes not even that), with an occasional lead vocal opportunity (either covers of other artists or new songs that Brian and Mike would throw his way). However, with Brian Wilson's retreat from full artistic control of the band in 1967, the other members (Dennis included) began to be relied upon more and more for compositional and production efforts. Dennis' first contributions in this respect appear on the 1968 Friends album, and would continue over the next five years; tunes like "Little Bird", "Be With Me", "Celebrate The News", and "Forever" were highlights of the late '60s-early '70s Beach Boys era. In order for Dennis to evolve musically into something more than "just the fun-loving playboy drummer", he needed to master a melodic/chordal instrument well enough to compose on it.
