1 Geographic information about Kosovo

Kosovo lies in the center of the Balkan Peninsula, Kosovo is landlocked. Kosovo borders Serbia in the north and east, Macedonia to the south, Albania to the southwest and Montenegro in the northwest. Kosovo's area is 10,908 km ². The climate in Kosovo is continental with hot summers and cold winters. Kosovo is divided into 37 municipalities. The capital of Kosovo is .

Households in Kosovo most part of the consumpsion have spent on food, housing, alcohol and tobacco, transport and clothing. Distribution of food in consumption represents dominance of meat consumption, bread and cereals, milk, cheese and eggs. In the consumption of Kosovo household most important is own consumption from 6% to total consumption. In urban households dominates the consumption for food, housing, alcohol and tobacco, while in rural areas dominates the consumption for food, housing and clothing.

Education has an impact on revenue sources. A higher education leads to more income from regular employment. Those with primary education or less, to a considerable extent should live by support from outside, pensions, per diem and own business.

The main source of income is wages from regular employment to account for half of total revenues. The second source of revenue are net of businesses that make up 17 percent of total revenue, then revenue ranging from temporary work, money sent from abroad and pensions from Kosovo. For women the most important are regular wages from employment, pensions from Kosovo and cash from abroad.

In Kosovo, the 2012 data show that the average municipal waste collected was 334 kg per capita per year. While significant differences are observed between regions, as e.g at other regions in Kosovo amount of municipal waste collected was 269 kg per capita per year. In Pristina and its region the municipal waste collection was 1.4 kg per capita per day. For the rest of Kosovo amount of municipal waste generated per capita per day was 0.7 kg (see Table 2).

In 2012 the collection of municipal waste per day calculated for residents in Pristina and its region was 1.4 kg while in other regions in Kosovo 0.7 kg. In Kosovo, the average per capita waste collected per day was 0.9 kg. In Kosovo, the average per capita waste collected per day was 0.9 kg.

Tab 10.6 shows that the largest amount of waste generated has been from a survey number one. Also from the table it is noted that the hazardous waste is generated from a survey number one.

Results from the survey show that a large quantity of waste is generated in mining and quarrying sector 177,171 tons or 43% (sector C) the total amount of waste generated (waste from a survey, 490 businesses that responded to survey). The sector E generated 151,322 tonnes of waste or 37%. While sector D generated 82,936 tons of waste or 20%.

According to data presented from 2010 until 2013 in the territory of Kosovo we have 1925.1 km of road length, which lets us know that the number of kilometers of roads based on their classification is unchanged and in 2012 there is added length of highway to 38 km. Also from the table we note that the road expressed in % are: international are 1.9%, highway 66.0% while 32.1% are regional roads

Household final consumption participates with 90.5 percent of GDP in 2012, while in 2011 had a turnout of 88.4 percent of GDP. Gross capital formation contributed 28.2 percent to GDP in 2012. Total government expenditures in 2012 represented 16.0 percent of GDP.

Kosovo Agency of Statistics Brief description Kosovo Agency of Statistics is a professional institution which operates since 1948 and has passed through several historical stages, and was structured according to the state regulation of that time. On 2 August 1999 the Agency has resumed professional work as an independent in the frames of the Ministry of Public Administration. The Agency is funded by the Kosovo Consolidated Budget and by donors for specific projects. Kosovo Agency of Statistics operates under the Law No. 04/L- 036 which entered into force on 12.12.2011. Strategic Development Plan 2009-2013 is in the middle term implementation for the development of statistical system in correlation with the Statistics of the European Union (Eurostat). The Agency's mission is to fulfill the needs of users with objective statistical data and regular analyzes in order to support the Government departments, to provide proper information for decision-makers, as well as for other users in Kosovo.
