For each grand prix weekend (free We had a good race there in 2016 and set a race duration record, so practice, qualifying, warm-up and race), we will certainly be looking to at least repeat that, if not improve riders have a total allocation of 22 slicks: on what we achieved last season and after the results last time out 10 front slicks: at Le Mans - where we had new lap and race duration records - we are in a determined mood to continue in that mode. This race will Up to five A-specification compounds see us changing the construction of the front tyre to a stiffer version Up to five B-specification compounds from what we have used so far this year. We had a request from several riders to test this tyre again after the decision had been made following the pre-season Up to five C-specification compounds tests to use the current spec. So we supplied it at the recent Jerez test for a comparison – this stiffer 12 rear slicks: construction tyre was originally used with a lot of success at the final race last season in Valencia and partly in the winter tests along with the current one, so the riders already had knowledge of it. Up to six A-specification compounds* Following this test all riders and teams were consulted by Dorna and a majority decision was taken Up to five B-specification compounds to introduce this tyre from Mugello and onwards for the rest of the season. We are happy with this Up to four C-specification compounds decision because it again gives us a clear direction for the year, and again highlights how Michelin is working to give the best solutions for the MotoGP field. *Riders participating in both Q1 and Q2 (a maximum of two competitors) will be granted an additional A-specification slick michelin power slick michelin power slick rear tyre – offering the optimum grip level Front rear – after Q2. PRESS INFORMATION MICHELIN COMBAT THE ARAGÓN HEAT AS MARQUEZ TRIUMPHS Michelin witnessed its range of MotoGP™ tyres produce a strong performance during today’s Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón from the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain as the heat rose on raceday before Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) took victory. Temperatures soared to their highest point of the weekend as the riders lined up on the grid, causing many teams to make last minute changes to their chosen selection of MICHELIN Power Slicks, in readiness to combat the heat. As the race began the track thermometer was reading 45°C - higher than it has ever been at the Aragón circuit for a MotoGP event - and following all the changes, five of the six tyre compounds were now featured in different combinations throughout the field. Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) was on pole after an exciting qualifying session on Saturday, which saw him take the first grid spot in the very last moment of the session, unfortunately for the Spaniard his race was short-lived as he crashed out on the first corner. This immediately handed the lead to his team-mate Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), a position he held for the next 13-laps, before coming under pressure from Marquez. The pair then duelled out the remaining 10-laps of the 23-lap race, with the lead frequently changing hands as they pushed the Michelin tyres to the limit on a track that now had diminished grip levels due to the increased heat. Marquez was using a hard front and soft rear pairing, whilst Dovizioso had gone for a hard/hard combination and the two battled it out for the final laps as the characteristics of their respective bikes gave them the opportunity to use different tyres, but still extract maximum performance.

  • BORN INTO RACING 60S and 70S
THE APRILIA SUCCESS STORY BORN INTO RACING With 294 Grand Prix races won in Road Racing World Championship, Aprilia holds the record for the most wins of any European manufacturer in the history of maximum motorcycle competition. These are joined by an impressive 54 world titles: 38 in Road Racing World Championship (20 in 125 and 18 in 250), 7 in Superbike (Rider and Manufacturer double win in 2010, 2012 and 2014, manufacturers in 2013) and 9 in Off Road disciplines (7 in Supermoto and 2 in Trial). In December 2004 Aprilia becomes part of the Piaggio Group which, with the reorganisation of the Noale Racing Division, takes the Veneto-based brand to victories in World Championship Motorcycle Racing and broadens the horizons of sport activity: from the return to the off road discipline, world rally to the début – in 2009 – of the Aprilia RSV4 in World Superbike. During the same period Aprilia has also accumulated 28 World Titles and a countless collection of European and national titles. Every weekend, all over the world, Aprilia motorcycles take to the track on international and local circuits, holding high the honour of Italian and European motorcycling, feeding the biker's desire to race and raising up young riders destined to enter into the world championship world. 60s and 70s Aprilia begins manufacturing motorcycles at the end of the 60's and already in 1970 produces a motocross "fifty" which would evolve into a 125, until arriving at the first competition motocross bike in the mid 70's. After the début in the Motocross sport in 1975, Aprilia enters World Championship Motorcycle Racing to challenge the unbeatable Japanese in the extremely competitive 250 class.

The move was made to try to improve safety by reducing cornering speeds, and in a marginal way for cost reasons; the winner was decided by bid.[1] Michelin, one of the two tyre suppliers in 2008, decided not to bid for the supply,[2] effectively declaring Bridgestone the winner, which was confirmed on 18 October 2008.[3] Bridgestone will be the sole tyre supplier from 2009 to 2011. Only race spec tyres will be provided to the teams, eliminating qualifying tyres, in use until 2008.

  • Press Information Marquez Dominant on New Michelin
PRESS INFORMATION MARQUEZ DOMINANT ON NEW MICHELIN RUBBER AT COTA Michelin’s MotoGP™ debut at the Circuit Of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, America has been totally dominated by Marc Marquez on a Honda as he secured his fourth successive victory at the Texan track. Michelin brought new rear tyres to the American circuit following a decision after last weekend’s race to begin production on a brand new version in readiness for today’s race. The tyres began their build process on Monday in Clermont Ferrand, France and were then shipped to Houston in Texas, before finally arriving in separate batches at the track on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. The new tyres had a stiffer construction with a softer compound, designed specifically for the Texan circuit, and built with a significant respect for safety to counter any incidents like the one encountered in Argentina last weekend, although the result of the analysis of Scott Redding’s tyre is not yet available. Free Practice and qualifying went well with the new MICHELIN Power Slicks with all teams and riders adapting to the new rubber and dialling in the settings as practice continued, before Marquez secured his fourth pole position in-a-row at COTA on the Saturday afternoon. Today’s race was held in warm, but cloudy, conditions and as the lights changed to signal the start of the race in front of over 56,000 enthusiastic fans, Marquez led off the line, but was passed by reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo. The 2015 champion was unable to make the move permanent and his Yamaha was relegated to second as Marquez again took the lead – a position that he would not relinquish again as he stormed to back-to-back victories on Michelin tyres, the first rider to do so since Valentino Rossi in 2006.
