Institute's basic information THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology is a newly established (in Aug 2011) rst con- stituent institute of Uttarakhand Technical University with the aim of becoming a world class comprehensive institute with mission of high-quality undergraduate programs and high caliber research development in cutting- edge areas. The institute is situated at B. Puram, Tehri, approximately 150 km from capital city Dehradun on beautiful site of THDC project. The institute believes that learning occurs in both the classroom and the laboratory. Therefore, the curriculum of UG programs having various practical based courses in every Semester. This allows students to experience rst-hand, the joys and challenges of research knowledge. The institute oers following UG programs: B.Tech Mechanical Engineering; B.Tech Civil Engineering; B.Tech Electrical Engineering; B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering; and B.Tech Computer Science Engineering. In the institute, students can learn in a border less and barrier-free environment. All the class rooms with LCDs, laboratories, instrument rooms, and library are well established. The teaching of all theory courses in combination of power Point and traditional presentations. Internet facility is available to all the students' and faculties. The institute is recruiting highly qualied faculty members from reputed institute/university preferably IITs /NITs/ world class university with good academic and research experiences to maintain the higher status of the institutions. The institute conducts the regular student development programs, guest seminars/lectures, faculty develop- ment programs and motivates the students to participate the summer training programs. The institute is working on to arrange the national conferences/workshops, national/international university/institute tie-up for the growth of students' and faculty knowledge. The institute thus aims to produce under graduates with a solid theoretical and practical foundation in science and engineering backed by excellent research experience who can thrive in a research and innovation intensive environment. 1 2. Vision and Mission The institute has following vision and Mission and is working relentlessly in pursuit of both. 2.1 Vision To be a globally admired institution of education and research in hydropower and other sustainable energy resources. 2.2 Mission 1- To continuously plan, promote and sustain a high quality of integrated education and research. 2- To groom our students into high quality professionals who are valuable assets for industry, academia and other organizations. 3- To constantly invest in research on hydropower and other alternate energy resources in collaboration with leading industries and research organizations. 4- To benchmark ourselves against international standards in all our endeavours. 5- To serve society by creating an organizational culture of excellence nurtured by values and ethics. 2 3. Aliating University Figure 3.1: Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun The institute is aliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. The Uttarakhand Technical Univer- sity, Dehradun was established on 27th January 2005 by Govt. of Uttarakhand through the Uttarakhand Tech- nical University Act 2005. The Uttarakhand Technical University campus is situated at NH-72 Suddhowala, Dehradun. Dehradun is the State capital of Uttarakhand well connected through Rail, Road and Air transport. The University has been established in an area of 8.372 hectare and it is the only aliating University of the state for technical institutions. There are 8 Constituent and 132 aliated colleges with 33,000 students in various courses .The University imparts education in Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate programmes in various disciplines like Management, Engineering, Hotel Management, Computer Application, Pharmacy etc. The University is serving the technical education through its progress monitored each semester, part time Ph.D programme especially designed for the teachers and scientists by giving them opportunity to explore the untouched area of the research. The University in its own campus running M.Tech and M.Pharma Programme in various disciplines. Apart from this University is having 8 Constituent Colleges. Spreading Technical Education in the remote underprivileged area of Uttarakhand hills. 3.1 Academic Autonomy The institute in not Autonomous as of present. But is in the process of application. 3 4. Governance Structure The institute has fully functioning Board of Governors which came into existence vide government order of Uttarkhand State Govenment in the year 2018. The BoG is fully competent to take any administrative and Academic decision that it may seem t to be in favor of the institute. The BoG meets once per quarter of Academic Year. Assistant Registrar is the head of the administrative works of the institute and is directly under the Director. 4 5. Academic Calendar 5.1 Academic Calendar: Session August 2019-December 2019 5 5.2 Academic Calendar: Session February 2020-June 2020 6 6. Infrastructure The academic buildings of the institute were fully constructed by THDC-IL from Corporate Social Responsi- bility funds in the period 2011-2014. THDC-IL also build 1 boys and 1 girls hostel, one more girls hostel was constructed by funds received from RIC. 6.1 Academic The rst year Academic block was constructed in the year 2010. Currently all the classes of rst year students are conducted in this block. Central library of the institute is also located in this block. The laboratory block was constructed in the year 2010. All the Labs of the rst year students are conducted in this block. The block has physics laboratory, chemistry laboratory, basic electronics and basic electrical laboratories, the block also has a well equipped computer lab which 60 computers. The second year block came into existence in the year 2012. Currently two departments computer Science and Engineering and electronics and communication engineering are established in this block. All the classes of 2nd year to 4th year students of these departments are conducted here. The block also has various Laboratories of both the departments. The third year block came into existence in the year 2013. Currently electrical engineering department is established in this block. All the classes of 2nd year to 4th year students of this department are conducted in this block. The block also has various Laboratories of the department. The fourth year block who was the last academic block constructed by thdc in the year 2014.

Introduction:- The Provinical Division, Public works Department New Tehri has proposed the construction of 0.50 km long Chamund link motor road in Tehri Tehsil. District- Tehri Garhwal. On the request of Er. Badan Singh, Executive Engineer, I carried out the geological Assessment of the proposed alignment on 30.12.12 in presence of Er. Y. P. Joshi, Astt. Engineer and Er. u. K Goel, p.D., p.w.D New Tehri. Z. LOCatiOn:- The Proposed alignment of Chamund motor link originates from km 4.0 of Tehri- Kirtinagar motor road and it ends at village Chamund, within 0.5 km length. The area lies in the close vicinity of New Tehri Town and Baurari Hamlet. :. GeOlOgiCal ASSeSSment:- Geologically the atignment of the proposed road is located in the middle lands of Garhwal Lesser Himalayan Belt, bounded by the Mail Central Thrust (MCT) in the north and Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) in the south. Another prominent ihrust namely Srinagar Thrust (ST) runs in between this beit which separates the rocks of Krol Nappe form the rocks of Garhwal Group. The proposed alignment is located the close vicinity of Srinagar Thrust and two different lithological units namely Chandpur phyllites and Nagthat Quartzites are exposed on its southern direction.
