Erosion is also evident in areas that have steep slopes and are impacted by humans. Swanbourne Oval This project will increase bushland $16,433 Coastwest Greenway areas and improve it as a biodiversity Development - Stage 2 corridor by converting part of the oval and parkland areas to coastal shrublands. It will rehabilitate other localised degraded dune areas through invasive weed control and infill planting. It will increase the ecological integrity of the entire coastal corridor by enhancing linkages to adjacent bushland areas as well as coastal areas north and south in Cottesloe and Cambridge. NRM Coastal Capacity This project will engage current and $19,400 Coastwest Building in the Perth prospective community Coastcare Region volunteers in training, knowledge sharing, skills development and education focussed on coastal conservation and restoration. Bicton Foreshore This project will upgrade the footpath $13,704.72 Coastwest Reclamation Project along Blackwall Reach Parade on the Bicton Foreshore, to reclaim vegetated foreshore where the old path currently stands. This project contributes directly to restoring riparian vegetation of the lower Swan River estuary, improving ecological linkages, encouraging community involvement, improves water quality in the Swan River Estuary, stabilises the bank from erosion and promotes sustainable recreational use of the foreshore.

Cockburn Coastcare Group, recently formed, will use this project to promote its role in community based coastal management. This will be conducted through brushing, weed management and community education. Dune brushing will promote stability and discourage 4WD vehicle access. Binningup Main Beach - This project aims to arrest dune erosion $7,451 Coastwest building community through the installation of beach sand capacity and protecting fencing and revegetation, which will coastal values deter pedestrian access and generate sand deposition. Tree guards will be strategically placed, and jute matting laid on steep slopes. Through engagement with governance, research and community sectors, WA Coastal News will build awareness of the value of the WA coast, increase stewardship through sharing of lessons learned and support collaboration among coastal stakeholders.
