Activity 2 after READING REPORT FROM CAPTAIN ROSTRON OF THE CARPATHIA Our radio operator called the Titanic because he had a message for one of the passengers. But the radio operator on the Titanic said “We need help. We are sinking!” So we began to go towards the Titanic at once. We were more than 90 kilometres away, and it took us three hours. It was dangerous because there were a lot of icebergs, but we didn’t stop. In the end we arrived at the right place, but we couldn’t find the Titanic. There were just some lifeboats. The Titanic was already under the sea. The passengers were cold and tired. We helped them onto the Carpathia, and gave them coats and hot drinks.

REPORT FROM CAPTAIN LORD OF THE CALIFORNIAN We stopped at 10.30 that night because there was ice in the sea. We saw a big ship at just after 11 o’clock. I wanted to tell them about the ice. We tried to send a message with a light, but the other ship didn’t answer. We couldn’t hear any messages on the radio because Evans, our radio operator, was in bed. Soon the other ship stopped. An hour later, we saw some rockets, but
