AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF PUBLIC BUSINESS Notice of Motions 1. The Leader of the House of Parliament,— Business of the Parliament,— That the proceedings on Item No. 1 of Public Business appearing on the Order Paper be exempted at this day’s sitting from the provisions of the Standing Order 27 of the Parliament. 2. The Leader of the House of Parliament,— Committee of Selection (No.1),— That in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 114 of the Parliament, the Committee of Selection shall consist of the Speaker as the Chair and twelve (12) Members which shall include the Leaders of political parties or their nominees to be nominated by Parliament to serve during the First Session of the Ninth Parliament. 3. The Leader of the House of Parliament,— Committee of Selection (No. 2),— That in terms of the motion agreed to by Parliament this day, the undermentioned twelve (12) Members do serve in the Committee of Selection during the First Session of the Ninth Parliament:— Hon. 4. The Leader of the House of Parliament,— Sittings of the Parliament (No. 1),— That notwithstanding the provisions of the Standing Order 8 of the Parliament, the Parliament shall sit on Thursday, 27th and Friday, 28th August, 2020. 5. The Leader of the House of Parliament,— Sittings of the Parliament (No. 2),— That notwithstanding the provisions of the Standing Order 8 of the Parliament, the hours of Sittings of Parliament on Thursday, 27th and Friday, 28th August, 2020 shall be 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.. At 6.30 p.m. Mr. Speaker shall adjourn the Parliament without question put. 6. The Leader of the House of Parliament,— Sittings of the Parliament (No. 3),— That this Parliament at its rising this day do adjourn until 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, 27th August, 2020.

NOTICE OF MOTIONS AND ORDERS OF THE DAY 1. Hon. Nipuna Ranawaka,— Statement of Government Policy,— That this Parliament resolves that the Statement of Government Policy made by His Excellency the President on 20th August 2020 in terms of Articles 32(4) and 33(2) (a) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of be debated.
