Talking of changes, Steve Stewart, Editor of LaCad the US club magazine, The Self Starter has decided to pass on his AUSTRALIA Editorial batton to Jeff Shiffley. After over a decade of Award-winning Summer 1998/1999 issues, Steve probably deserves a well-earned break and on behalf of The Self Starter the NZ club, I wish him well and we look forward to Jeff’s delivery. Jeff UNITED STATES OF AMERICA January 2000 was President of the ‘Vertical Headlight (Cadillac) club’ of which I am a member, so I look forward to a few ‘65-’68 Caddies appearing from time to time! Sloan (then head of GM) had appointed Larry Fisher as Cadillac’s General Manager in May that year; it was Larry who added a so-called “custom” line to the Cadillac range of models and who actually oversaw the purchase Our Global by GM of the Fleetwood Metal Body Company. Cadillac’s “regular” models carry the “Fisher Coach” emblem on the sill plate; those in the “custom” line carry the oval “Fleetwood” badge in that same location. These VERY RARE sixteens were built at the old Fleetwood plant in PA before all Fleetwood production was moved to new premises in Detroit in April/May 1930. Ron Zahn, CLC VP - International Affliates has emailed me details of revised membership pricing for US club membership. I have been a member since 2005 and can attest it is a terrific club to belong to and I receive their Award Winning The Self-Starter magazine. I can certainly recommend joining and I have attached to this FINZ issue a copy of their application form.
