At the time it seemed so out of context that I wrote it down, and every now and then it slips out of my notebook as a timely reminder. Of what? For me, it says that God loves and blesses us all without distinction. As Lent approaches, that set me thinking about the Beatitudes - those beautiful sayings that we can read in St Matthew’s Gospel. In 8 short verses the Bible provides a rich mine of resources for living faithfully in the world of today – they are always relevant, whatever the state of the world. Whether you’re planning to give something up for Lent or not, this is an invitation to join us to focus your thoughts and prayers on LINK what is important in life. Some versions of the Bible replace the word ‘blessed’ with the word ‘happy’. Maybe that works for you. There’s no right or wrong version. So, with very many thanks to all who have let me know what might work well for a Lent programme this year, this is the plan: we shall meet at 10:30am on five Saturday mornings beginning on 9th March. Most of my respondents said that they prefer to meet in someone’s home – so I am grateful to Elly Heard, who has promised us not just the comfort of her home, but also a generous supply of coffee or tea!     HEVER CHURCH OF ENGLAND AIDED PRIMARY SCHOOL: ADMISSIONS POLICY FOR SEPTEMBER 2018 Hever Church of England Aided Primary School has a distinctive Christian ethos which is at the heart of the school and provides an inclusive, caring and supportive environment where children learn and flourish in a setting shaped by our core Christian values of Love, Respect and Wisdom. We welcome applications from all members of the community and we ask all parents to respect the Christian ethos of our school and its importance to the local community. This does not affect the right of any parents to apply and be considered for a place for their child at Hever Church of England Aided Primary School. Parents wishing to send their children to the school are advised to make an appointment to meet the Headteacher for a tour of the school. Usually all children will enter school at the beginning of September. Children born between the 1 st April and 31 st August (also known as ‘summer born’) must start school at the beginning of the April term if they wish to keep their offer. These applications should be made during the last month of Reception Year.

Village, woodland, country houses, views In Brief This is a gentle, easy walk starting in the peaceful village of Cowden, West Kent, near the Sussex border and visiting three manor houses of great character, before taking in a high viewpoint and returning across grassy meadows. In 2018 there is excellent new signage and no compulsory stiles. There are one or two patches of easily avoidable nettles. Any stout shoes ? are fine, except in the wetter months, when mudproof boots are preferable. Your dog can come too. The walk begins in the centre of Cowden (postcode TN8 7JE grid ref TQ 465 404). Park considerately in the village. Village, hills, views, woodland, nature reserve In Brief This walk takes you from an unassuming village in the Garden of England high up onto the site of an ancient hill fort with long woodland trails and great views and raw nature at its best. Dryhill (or Dry Hill) is one of the largest Iron-Age hill forts in the South East. It was originally enclosed within three banks and ditches for protection (in a word: “tri-vallate”) but you can only see one bank now. Nevertheless, the whole structure has survived well, considering that it was built by the native Britons, before the Saxons took over the land (in fact before the Romans). It would have been a high exposed summit (170m=550 ft) with good views all around, but now of course it is tree-covered, offering some long wood- land walks to visitors. This walk could be zipped up with the walk Cowden and Dryhill: Three Manors and a View to make a wonderful 10-mile figure-of-eight hike with refreshments in Cowden.

    Sevenoaks District Council 5 Year Supply of Deliverable Housing Sites 2019/20 to 2023/24 Addendum: September 2019 1.1 This addendum has been prepared to supplement the 5 Year Supply of Deliverable Housing Sites [SDC008] submitted alongside the Local Plan in April 2019. 1.2 The 5 Year Supply of Deliverable Housing Sites [SDC008] has been calculated against the local housing need of 707 units per year, in accordance with paragraph 73 of the NPPF. However, the housing requirement set out in the Local Plan is 9,410 units and this figure will replace the local housing need on adoption of the plan, in accordance with paragraph 73 of the NPPF. 1.3 This addendum therefore sets out the calculation of the 5 year supply against the Local Plan housing requirement of 588 units per year. All other aspects of the calculation (application of a 5% buffer, the number of deliverable sites, the qualifying elements of supply) remain as per document SDC008. 1.4 The calculation of the 5 year land supply requirement is set out in the table below. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Rural Housing Enabler (RHE) undertook a parish wide survey to ascertain if there are shortfalls in affordable housing provision within the parish of Hever which includes the villages of Hever, Markbeech and Four Elms. This report provides overall information as well as analysis of housing need. A survey was posted to every household within the parish in May 2018. 516 surveys were distributed with 127 surveys being returned, representing a 25% response rate. Analysis of the returned survey forms identified that 83% of respondents are owner occupiers. 67% of respondents have lived in the parish for over 10 years. High property prices and a predominance of privately owned homes means that some local people are unable to afford a home within the parish.
