Dive into the tech - niques and styling of the greatest pioneers of perform - ance. Champion dancers and seasoned performers Bobby and Akemi will focus on concepts and choices the Whitey’s made that work great for high- speed dancing and jamming. Both Part I and Part II will be three classes each, and both parts will cover a lot of different material from each other. Each part will contain fundamental movement and moves, a Whitey’s pattern, and a simple, small optional Air Step that will teach the basics of safe and powerful flying. Though both Part I and II are meant to be companions, it is not necessary to do one in order to do the other. Bobby White is a world traveling instructor of Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Solo Jazz, and is a Jazz historian. Akemi Kinukawa teaches throughout the boroughs of New York and has performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center. She is the founder of Project Connect, a charitable dance performance company. They are both members of the Whitey’s inspired performance group, The Harvest Moon Hoppers, sponsored by YSBD..! Studios. Among the topics covered: balance techniques, weight shift, rotation and degree of rotation, core usage, spotting, coordination of arms, legs and feet when exe - cutions rotation.
