(040) 853 88 888 ∙ www.fkpscorpio.com PRESSEMITTEILUNG 22.02.2019 Oh Land im Juni in Berlin und Hamburg Im kommenden Mai erscheint mit „Family Tree“ Oh Lands fünftes Studioalbum, das erste seit fünf Jahren. Doch die Zwischenzeit war durchaus turbulent für die Dänin. Als Nanna Øland Fabricius hat sie innerhalb von 18 Monaten ein Kind bekommen, sich scheiden lassen und ist – nach zehn Jahren in New York – zurück nach Dänemark gezogen. Als Künstlerin Oh Land war sie mit Katy Perry und Sia auf Tour und hat Songs für Pharrell Williams, Sia, John Legend und Tricky geschrieben, um nur ein paar wenige zu nennen. Nebenbei hat sie Film- und Theatermusik komponiert und ist im klassischen Bereich zusammen mit dem Pianisten Lang Lang und dem Violinisten Joshua Bell in der Carnegie Hall aufgetreten. Sie hat Konzerte für das Dänische Radio- Sinfonieorchester orchestriert und für die kommende Platte mit dem Budapest Art Orchestra zusammengearbeitet. Als Århus im Jahr 2017 europäische Kulturhauptstadt war, hat sie in diesem Rahmen mit ihrer Musik für die Multimedia- Performance „Watermusic“ die Liebe zwischen Land und Meer hörbar gemacht. Sie schrieb gemeinsam mit Königin Margarethe II. von Dänemark eine Ballettmusik für das Pantomimen Theater im Kopenhagener Tivoli (für das Ihre Majestät nebenbei auch Bühnenbild und Kostüme entwarf). Zuletzt hat sie für die Netflix-Produktion „The Rain“ die Titelmusik eingespielt und dabei die dänische Nationalhymne musikalisch und textlich so bearbeitet, damit sie dieser dystopischen Serie über den Zusammenbruch der Zivilisation ihren düsteren Charakter gibt. Diese ganzen Erlebnisse geben zusammengenommen auch den Ton vor für „Family Tree“, das Album, aus dem vorab schon die Single mit dem programmatischen Titel „Human Error“ zirkuliert. Schon das Video setzt den Akzent: Oh Land singt das Stück, während zwei Umzugshelfer ihre Einrichtung aus der Wohnung tragen. Zuletzt schieben sie auch den Flügel weg und beenden damit brachial das intensive Stück Musik. Diese Frau, das spürt man, ist am Ende und fängt deshalb ganz neu an. Die Platte ist ohne Zweifel die persönlichste der Dänin. Oh Land geht zurück zu den Qualitäten als Songwriterin, stellt konsequenterweise wieder das Klavier ins Zentrum der Musik und öffnet sich in den Lyrics wie noch nie zuvor. Gerade darum dürfte „Family Tree“ schon jetzt eine der persönlichsten und schönsten Platten des Jahres sein. Im Juni kommt Oh Land damit für zwei exklusive Shows nach Deutschland: Ins Berliner Silent Green und in den Hamburger Stadtpark, dort als Support für die großartigen First Aid Kit. Several students hear Palin speak at Tea Party rally BY GILLIAN ANDERSON “Run, Sarah, run” were the words that could be heard coming from the crowd in Indianola, last Saturday, Sept. 3. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin spoke at a Tea Party rally to a generally positive audience that included several Northwestern students. If people don’t remember her from the election three years ago, they may recognize her from the satire of Saturday Night Live or the notable amount of criticism she has received from the media. “She has done very well considering all the criticism she has taken,” said junior attendee Hannah Biernacki. Some at the rally expected Palin to announce her candidacy for the 2012 election and were surprised when she did not. While Palin did not announce whether she is going to run, there is still time for her to enter the race.
