Our school choir –“Dews of heaven” • participated in 5th L.O Edwards choir festival on 26th August 2017 at Wynberg Allen School, . The purpose of this festival is to provide a platform for the immensely talented choirs of different school of and Mussoorie to come together in the spirit of camaraderie and share their love for music through captivating performance. Schools like, Hopetown girls school, Mussoorie International School, Carman school, Ann Mary School, Woodstock school etc, participated in this festival. Our school choir presented an acapella- “True colours” with great excitement and enthusiasm, directed by our music teacher Mr. Danny L Nungate.

race Academy held its 2nd Dr. David Fiol Inter-School English Debate for students of Classes 9 - 12 on 19th GAugust 2017. The topic was `Democracy in our country is practised in letter, not in spirit’. As part of its annual event, Grace Academy holds an Inter-School debate in honour of its founder, Dr. David Fiol. The aim of the debate is to give a platform to budding and seasoned debaters of various schools.

The coordinators of the programme were Mrs. A. Jaideep and Mrs. Irene C. Khan. The event was compered by Nathan Taylor and Elei Issachar, students of Grace Academy.

The judges for the programme were Mrs. Judy Chacko, Mr. Samuel Jaideep and Mr. Justin Burrett. The debate was chaired by Mrs. Irene Khan.

It was delightful to see the number of schools, nine in all, who sent their students to participate in the debate. The competition was quite tough but they gave their best and were appreciated by all present. Samarpan Farmer was given the best rebuttal award. Grace Academy was declared the 1st Runner up of the debate on the basis of both the rounds. It was a moment of joy and pride to see Aryan, Samarpan and Nita receive the prizes and certificates. The counselling cell made use of this opportunity to talk with the parents and introduce them to the various programs that the cell does for children and parents. The parents of grade 9 & 10 were especially encouraged to participate in the Career Counselling Workshops that enable their children to make informed choices for the future Careers.

On April 17th, a meaningful time was spent with new parent helping them to initiate a smooth • transition from Home to School for their child. The seminar laid emphasis on the role of Parents during the school years. The seminar covered the topics -Developmental milestones in children at different stages and the role of parents.

The counsellor oriented all the new students who joined Grace Academy. The students were • made to feel welcomed and helped to understand why Grace Academy is a different school and why we call ourselves as a Family.

‘Building Bridges, Understanding Our Children Better’ workshops for parents of Class 6, • 7 & 8 on the topic was held from. The topic was considered after the counselling cell had conducted workshops on “Relationships” last year with the students of class 6, 7 & 8.The Resource Person for the seminar was Mr. Sushil Emmanuel. The feedback received from the students revealed that there is a huge communication gap between the parents and children. Students were highly influenced by their Peers and the Social Media because of which many of them were underachievers in their academics as well as in their overall behaviour. The seminar highlighted the developmental milestones of the pre-teens, parenting styles and communication between parents and children. Overall, the parents were happy to have attended this kind of a seminar and they were happy to note that their children were also exposed to such kind of talks and are motivated in the right direction by the school.

A seminar for the teachers on Understanding • children and handling behavioural issues in classroom was especially organized for teachers on 29th April in order to help teachers to understand their students better and cope up with behavioural issues that arise in the classrooms as well as outside the class room. Mr. Sushil Emmanuel was the Resource person for the same.

A seminar was organized for students of class • 10 on 5th May in order to enhance the overall performance of students by equipping them with the right knowledge that enhances their academics as well as grooms their personality. It also further equips the students towards choosing the right subjects which leads to the path of success for future careers.

The missionary kids’ care group spent • an eventful time by taking the morning assemblies and classes in the Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle and High School from 13th to 16th July on the topic Friendship with God and People. Students were made to understand that God is love and He created us to love and to be loved. God has created us for companionship, to live in a community with other people of God. The Day-School and Boarding students greatly benefitted from this interactive workshop. The team leaders were able to gel with the students of all age groups.

Anti-Bullying Day was observed on 15th July. • The cell organized a talk in the morning assembly by the Vice-Principal, Mrs. D. Dayal, Coordinator Nur-2 and Mrs. S. Newton, the School Counsellor. The students were made aware of: What Bullying is? What are the different types of Bullying? What to do if I am being bullied? Power point presentations, Short Films, Anti-bullying posters and Pledge were all part of this activity. After the talk students with the help of their class teachers appointed their team leaders in each class who will be responsible to ensure that the school becomes a Bully-Free zone.
