FA:/.. 387493 ~ ~ TELEPHONE: 01538 387481 ;E Cheshire look lorward to today's match against their old ri vais Lancashire appreciating that success is vital lor lurther progress in the Cou nt y Championship . The nucleus of the Cheshire squad is based on three clubs, Manchester, New Brighton and Widnes, who are currently pla yin g successful and enterprising rugby in their respecti ve leagues. Today 12 01 the team selected and 4 on the replacements bench are from these three clubs. The commitment of the whole squad to success in the Championshi p has been solid and determined and they have been thoroughly prepared by the two coaches, Mike Briers and Len Davies. When you see that players hold County honours in such high regard that they are prepared to train one night per week with the Cou nt y in addition to th eir two nights that they give to their clubs to achieve the quality of team play required for success, one has to admire both their dedication and enthusiasm. So far Cheshire have won both their warm-up games against Yorkshire 13-8 and the lirst 01 the Championship games against Leicestershire 38-18. They have been abl y led by their Captain, Kevin Brookman from New Brighton, who himsell gives 100% and expActs and receives the same Irom the Cheshire team . There has been a lot of discussion in County committees throughout England about the place and continued status 01 .the County Championship. It is an issue which needs to be re solved quickly by the R.F.U . and must be organised within the national calendar of fi xtures so that there are no complications for both players and clubs in supporting Cou nt y rugby while competing in the leagues. Personally 1 feel that representative rugby is both rew3rding and benelicial to the developement of the players. It is a breath 01 Iresh air for them to pla y outside their own club environ ment for part 01 the season and in competing with pla yers of their own ability they take both ideas and enthusiasm back to their own clubs. County rugby has a long tradition and history of success and m'erits a sympathetic R.F.U. structure to ensure its luture. The match today between Cheshire and Lancashire promises a lot for both players and spectators. A resurt in Cheshire's favour will not be lor want 01 effort and commitment. The Cheshire players are hungry for success and relish the challenge of Lancashire. Roger 1. Blake, Chairman of Selectors. COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP • CHESHIRE 4f,=,~ .. With most of fixtures at Step 6 and above called off because of the dreaded Coronavirus, it was down to one of the feeder leagues to get my fix today. So, not wanting to catch anything on public transport, apart from a train or two of course, I elected to drive to my game and I picked one that is, as far, as I know, very difficult to do by public transport. It took me just over two hours to get here and the ground is adjacent to the village hall, not that they really need one, as this is a very small village. The changing rooms are wooden and here I bumped into the jovial home management team, who pointed me in the direction of the local pub. After my recent experience of paying £4 for a pulled pork roll at the Hampshire FA ground, I thought that I couldn’t do any worse here. I was wrong. The chilli con carne with pasta with garlic bread (two slices) for £4.50 looked tempting and when it arrived it tasted nice. Problem was that it came in a large coffee mug! Back at the ground I mentioned this to my ‘trip advisor’ who told me, “I forgot to tell you that the food’s not very good!" Perhaps the clue was that no one came around to ask me if I was enjoying my meal, possibly because I didn't give them time, as I ate it in a few mouthfuls! Anyway, by now we were ready to go and once the rotund ref had finished off his fag the game soon got underway.

  • Edition 10: 20Th September 2013
Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.

Colours: Red & Black Chairman’s Foreword Welcome to the new County Handbook which I hope you will find to be a useful source of valuable information about our County and our Clubs. I hope that you find the fixture lists a useful feature, enabling you to support our Bucks Clubs. Please also refer to our Website: bucksrfu.pitchero.com This site holds all the relevant information and news about Bucks Rugby. Please contact the Webmaster if you have any information or news that needs to be shared. Remember, the website is only as good as its content so let’s all contribute! The season 2015/16 was again a huge success for Rugby in the County with the Bucks U 20 XV reaching the semi-final of the county plate competition and the senior XV also getting to the semi- final of their competition. This is the furthest either team have reached in the County’s history. As a County we seem to produce some very talented players, and this is very much down to the Clubs and Schools in our area being “Development” focused and ensuring that the most talented get the exposure they deserve. We intend as County to continue this theme every season and ensure that as many players as possible have the opportunity to play at their highest potential level.
