  • Diocesan Bulletin
Diocesan Bulletin - January, 2015 Mar Jacob Angadiath with His Holiness Pope Francis at the Canonization of Saint Chavara Kuriakose & Saint Euphrasia The faith confession of St. Thomas the Apostle, “My Lord and My God”, stands in the history as the most profound confession on Jesus’ true identity. ‘Lord’ and ‘God’ are the equivalent words for the Greek terms ‘Kyrios’ and ‘Theos’ respectively used to denote the Hebrew words ‘Yahweh’ and ‘Elohim’, two expressions used to address the Almighty One. Making use of these words to the Resurrected Lord, Thomas equates Jesus to the Absolute Deity. He connects the Old Testament and New Testament understanding of God. St. Thomas Syro-Malabar St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago, by Catholic Diocese of Chicago living and experiencing the faith confession of her patron through the celebration of her liturgy, aims at the deepening of the identity and heritage of Syro-Malabar Church in the United States of America. Journal of Markets & Morality Vol. 1, no. 1 (Spring 1998)– index Vol. 15, no. 2 (Fall 2012) Journal of Markets & Morality Volume 15, Number 2 (Fall 2012): 571–572 Copyright © 2012 Comprehensive Contributors Index Contributors Index Journal of Markets and Morality Vol. 1, no. 1 (Spring 1998)– Introduction Vol. 15, no. 2 (Fall 2012) To commemorate the fifteenth year and thirtieth issue of the Journal of Markets & Morality, the following index was conceived as a way to take a step back to survey what has been built upon a rather humble foundation. From its beginnings as a forum for scholarship and controversy on the morality of the marketplace, the Journal of Markets & Morality has grown to include symposiums on a variety of theological and social topics as well as translations of seminal works of early modern economics and law in our Scholia section and of important engagements between religion and society in the last two centuries in our Status Quaestionis section. We have had theme issues on a range of subjects from urban planning to economic personalism to modern Christian social thought. We entered the information age with online content and recently launched a new website with a searchable database of our archives, among other features. Taking back the scaf- folding of years of work and surveying the edifice hidden beneath has revealed an achievement that simultaneously humbles and evokes a sense of pride, but not a single wall of this building could have been built apart from the research, scholarship, and labor of our many contributors. This index, then, is especially a tribute to all those without whom the Journal of Markets & Morality could not be what it is today.

  • Apostle Number 19
Number XIX September—November 2008 LET US ALSO GO, THAT WE MAY DIE WITH HIM John 11:16 APOSTLE Newsletter of the Society of Saint Pius X, 1 Marcel Lefebvre Place, Annie Nagar, Seevalaperi Road , Palayamkottai, TN 627002, India Dear Friends and Benefactors, There never was anything so perilous or so exciting as orthodoxy. It was sanity: and to be sane is more dramatic than to be mad. If G. K. Chesterton were a contempo- rary of His Lordship Bishop Richard Wil- liamson, he might well have had the Bishop in mind when he wrote these lines, for His Lordship’s orthodox view of the world is nothing if not dramatic. “There will be a great chastisement,” His Lord- ship repeatedly warns, “natural or man- made, by which God will punish mankind for its infidelity to His law. He will purge the Church of its modern churchmen for they have lost the Faith.” Modern churchmen, as you might expect, are none too pleased by these calamitous prophecies, but history has reminded us time and time again: if you play fast and loose with the truth, with the sacraments and with souls, God will not be mocked; His justice will prevail. G.K.C. appropriately continues: It is always easy to be a modernist; as it is easy to be a snob. … It is always simple to fall; there are infinity of angles at which one falls, only one at which one stands. To have fallen into any one of the fads from Gnosticism to Christian Science would have indeed been His Lordship Bishop Williamson in India.

  • India- Holy See Relations
India- Holy See Relations Diplomatic relations between India and the Holy See were established soon after India’s independence in 1948. India’s Ambassador in Berne, Switzerland, has traditionally been accredited to the Holy See which maintains a Nunciature (Embassy) in New Delhi, presently headed by a Nuncio (Ambassador). India has the second largest Catholic population in Asia including those from Kerala dating from Apostolic times. A large number of Indians have joined various Roman Catholic Orders and many occupy high positions within the Catholic Church including those in Rome. India and Indians have a positive image in the world Catholic community. The Holy See has always acknowledged the importance of India, both in global and Asian terms. There have been three Papal visits to India so far. The first Pope to visit India was Pope Paul IV, who visited Mumbai in 1964 to attend the International Eucharistic Congress. Pope John Paul II visited India in February 1986 during which he visited different parts of India, including Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata and met with the Indian leadership. He again visited India on a State Visit from 5-7 November, 1999. He met with the then President Shri K.R. Narayanan, Vice President and the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. During the visit he presided over the concluding celebrations of the special assembly of Synod of Bishops of Asia and he signed and released the post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation. New Delhi was specially chosen by the Pope to hold this Special Concluding celebrations. The special assembly of Synod of Bishops of Asia was held at the Vatican from April 19 to May 14, 1998.

For private circulation only 2 Krupa Nidhan Message of the Shepherd The feast of Qyomdo is celebrated yet again. However every Easter is a renewal of the assurance of our destiny which is not just to fade away here. It is the guarantee that our faith is not futile and that our proclamation is not in vain (1 Cor 15: 17). God out of his infinite love and mercy gave His only son to redeem this world. (John 3:16). The Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, suffered, died and was resurrected so that we may have life in abundance. (John 10:10). All this was realized only because the Mercy of God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, our Master. The Year of Mercy reiterates this reality. And the feast of resurrection, in this context, becomes for us an obligation to ‘be merciful like our heavenly Father’ (Luke 6:46). This obligation is to be lived in our daily lives through our small acts of love and kindness to our fellow beings especially those in need.
