The common market price (reference price) is the price for EU’s Commercial Grade E (standard quality with between 55 and 60% meat) . The basic price is fixed once a year . As the basic price is fixed in EURO, changes in the value of DKK . Will also lead to changes in the basic price in DKK . If the average market price in the EU drops below a certain level, intervention measures can be introduced by the Commission usually as aid to private storage or export refunds . During the latest years the Basic price has however become of less importance . Today the Commission is to a higher extent evaluating the market situation based on production economy than on the height of the price .
