On the two occasions the Spaniard has reached semi-finals on tour in 2016, he has gone on to win the title. This is the 20th ATP semi-final of Troicki’s career (9-10) and third of 2016 (2-0) after reaching finals in Sydney (d. Dimitrov) and Sofia (l. to Bautista Agut). The No. 9 seed is aiming to reach his 10th ATP final, and second in the U.S. – his only other stateside final came at 2008 Washington (l. to del Potro).
