Your Love O Lord Introduction It has been almost 2000 years since the Apostle Paul wrote the letters to the Corinthian church found in our New Testament. Central to the working of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament churches was the Breaking of Bread or Communion services. The believers gathered around the Lord’s table and came prepared to share what the Holy Spirit was teaching, or speaking through their individual giftings. Each believer had a part to play, a gift to bring. This was, for the most part an open meeting with very few pre-set parameters. Some would share a song or speak about what it meant to them. Some would share a passage of Scripture and briefly share how it applied to Christ. Others would have a word of testimony or a word of prophecy. Still others would have a message in tongues with and accompanying interpretation. We find in, 1 Corinthians 14:1 – 40, the blueprint of these gatherings. In this passage there are several principles given by the Apostle Paul to give us some boundaries for our Breaking of Bread services at Barrie Christian Fellowship. 1) Everything is to be done in a decent and orderly way. 2) In church meetings, we must be able to understand what is being taught or spoken about through words of prophecy, revelation, knowledge or instruction 3) Singing must be understood by those hearing it, so that all present can be edified. 4) All must be done for the strengthening of the church. 5) At the most there should be two or three messages in tongues with interpretation. If there is no interpreter, the speaking in tongues should be kept quiet or spoken to themselves. 6) Only two or three prophets are given an opportunity to prophesy and this must be judged or weighed by the pastors/elders of the local church as to whether it is appropriate to the service. 7) There is to be no disorder in the service, so no arguing, disputing or disrupting is permitted during the service. 8) The Breaking of Bread is a service to celebrate the victory of Jesus over sin, death and the grave. Therefore, we are to rejoice and remember the wonderful grace of God in our lives and give glory to Him. It is our hope as pastors/elders, as we move forward and grow in the Lord, these Breaking of Bread services will be a great opportunity to celebrate together what Jesus has done and is doing at our midst. The Pastors, Ian and Malcolm Above All Above all powers, above all kings Above all nature and all created things Above all wisdom and all the ways of man You were here before the world began Above all kingdoms, above all thrones Above all wonders the world has ever known Above all wealth and treasures of the earth There’s no way to measure what You’re worth Crucified, laid behind the stone You lived to die, rejected and alone Like a rose trampled on the ground You took the fall and thought of me Above all Alas and Did My Saviour Bleed Alas and did my Saviour bleed and did my Sov’reign die Would He devote that sacred head for sinners such as I At the cross, at the cross Where I first saw the light And the burden of my heart rolled away It was there by faith I received my sight And now I am happy all the day Was it for crimes that I have done, He groaned upon the tree Amazing pity, grace unknown and love beyond degree Well might the sun in darkness hide and shut His glories in When Christ the mighty Maker died for man, the creature’s, sin But drops of grief can ne’er repay the debt of love I owe Here Lord I give myself away ‘tis all that I can do All Heaven Declares All heaven declares The glory of the risen Lord Who can compare with The beauty of the Lord Forever He will be The Lamb upon the throne I gladly bow the knee And worship Him alone I will proclaim The glory of the risen Lord Who once was slain To reconcile man to God Forever You will be The Lamb upon the throne I gladly bow the knee And worship You alone Amazing Grace Amazing grace how sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me I once was lost but now am found Was blind but now I see ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear And grace my fears relieved How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come ‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far And grace will lead me home When we’ve been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’ve first begun Amazing Love I’m forgiven Because You were forsaken I’m accepted You were condemned I’m alive and well Your Spirit is within me Because You died and rose again Amazing love, how can it be That You my King, would die for me Amazing love, I know it’s true It’s my joy to honour You In all I do, I honour You You are my King You are my king Jesus, You are my King Jesus, You are my King And Can It Be And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Saviour’s blood Died He for me who caused His pain for me who Him to death pursued Amazing love how can it be that thou my God shouldst die for me Amazing love how can it be that Thou my God shouldst die for me He left His Father’s throne above so free so infinite His grace Emptied Himself of all but love and bled for Adam’s helpless race ‘Tis mercy all immense and free for O my God it found out me ‘Tis mercy all immense and free for O my God it found out me Long my imprisoned spirit lay fast bound in sin and nature’s night Thine eye diffused a quickening ray I woke the dungeon flamed with light My chains fell off my heart was free I rose, went forth and followed Thee My chains fell off my heart was free I rose, went forth and followed Thee No condemnation now I dread, Jesus and all in Him is mine Alive in Him my living Head and clothed in righteousness divine Bold, I approach th’eternal throne and claim the crown through Christ my own Bold, I approach th’eternal throne and claim the crown through Christ my own At the Cross I know a place, a wonderful place Where accused and condemned Find mercy and grace Where the wrongs we have done And the wrongs done to us Were nailed there with Him (You) There on the cross At the cross (at the cross) He (You) died for our sin At the cross (at the cross) He (You) gave us life again At the Cross (Love Ran Red) There’s a place where mercy reigns and never dies There’s a place where streams of grace flow deep and wide Where all the love I’ve ever found Comes like a flood comes flowing down At the cross, at the cross I surrender my life I’m in awe of You, I’m in awe of You Where Your love ran red and my sin washed white I owe all to You, I owe all to You Jesus There’s a place where sin and shame are powerless Where my heart has peace with God and forgiveness Where all the love I’ve ever found Comes like a flood comes flowing down Here my hope is found, here on holy ground Here I bow down, here I bow down Here arms open wide, here You saved my life Here I bow down, here I bow (down) Beautiful One Wonderful, so wonderful is Your unfailing love Your cross has spoken mercy over me No eye has seen, no ear has heard No heart could fully know How glorious, how beautiful You are Beautiful one I love, Beautiful one I adore Beautiful one my soul must sing Powerful, so powerful, Your glory fills the skies Your mighty works displayed for all to see The beauty of Your majesty awakes my heart to sing How marvellous, how wonderful You are You opened my eyes to Your wonders anew You captured my heart with this love ‘Cause nothing on earth is as beautiful as You My soul, my soul must sing.
