NichollsI have some original Fawcett comic- books, bought years ago, but with them having become so rare - and so expensive - I am always glad to find reprints of the stories I haven't got. This is a good collection - as are others in the series, which I also bought - and at a reasonable price. Reproduction is not perfect, being photographs of actual old comics, but is decent enough for the nostalgic reader to enjoy. I congratulate the publishers for filling a gap in the market, at less expense than some other collections; I wish they had more.
During the Golden Age of comics the Marvel Family - Captain Marvel, Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr. - we the first and the most famous super-hero families in America. They appeared in numerous comics every month and at times dominated the comic landscape. After doing their part to help win World War Two, the Marvel Family in the late 40's concentrated on fighting crime at home. The comic reprints from Calumet History and Hobby are reproduced from actual classic comics, and sometimes reflect the imperfection of books that are decades old.
