    1 MARTINO CARBOTTI LA MIA FEDE nei Santi di ogni giorno Pugliesi Editore 2 Introduzione Non è assolutamente semplice per me, figlio, delineare la figura di mio padre: Ninuccio Carbotti. Non vi nascondo di averci pensato per molto tempo, dubbioso, circa i tanti aspetti su cui avrei dovuto soffermarmi e una delle domande che mi sono subito posto è stata: ma oltre alla figura di padre modello che io conoscevo, cos'altro conosco della vita di mio padre? E qui ho avuto delle perplessità ..... sì dico perplessità perché tutti i padri presumo hanno un determinato comportamento con i figli, dettato dal ruolo, c'è chi lo fà con più severità e chi meno, chi è pedante e chi meno, chi è accondiscendente e chi meno e via dicendo ma sicuramente tutti si apprestano a svolgere questo compito basilare con uno sconfinato e immenso amore !!! Ma un padre oltre a questo è anche un “uomo”ed è proprio il profilo umano, di uomo tra gli uomini, che mi ha portato ad iniziare questo lavoro, oserei dire di ricerca, esegetico, di tutti gli scritti e archiviazioni varie che con pazienza e passione certosina egli aveva iniziato ed implementato nei vari anni della sua vita. Ho avuto la fortuna di crescere in una famiglia molto unita, sotto tutti gli aspetti. Mio padre apparteneva a quelle belle famiglie di una volta, numerose: erano otto figli, madre, padre e “zizì” a carico (una zia di mia padre, sorella minore di mia nonna, la quale viveva sotto lo stesso tetto a causa di lievi problemi invalidanti) e come tradizione comanda, tutti i figli maschi e dico tutti nessuno escluso, hanno ereditato dal padre l'arte della lavorazione del legno.

Prof. Dr. David Thornton July 2019 This thesis succinctly investigates the chronological traces and the historical development of the cult of St. Katherine of Alexandria in Late Medieval Scotland. The main argument of this study evolves around why possibly the cult of St. Katherine has not been examined in the previous literature, although the Katherine-cult was predominantly recognized by the Scottish population. The thesis will trace the cult through gradual methodological and contextual steps, that are, hagiography, liturgy, dedications, and onomastics. The outcome will attest to the necessity of the re-evaluation and recognition that the Katherine-cult in Late Medieval Scotland was not any less significant than the cults of native saints of Scotland.

    Una suora coraggiosa Incuriosito non poco dall’episodio raccontatami da suor Josephine e suor Carmelita, francescane di Luxor, volevo vedere di che tempra fossero fatte quelle suore che verso la fine dell’Ottocento, a bordo di una feluca (barca a vela latina) risalirono la corrente del Nilo per quasi mille chilometri. Così ho cercato notizie sulla loro fondatrice e sul loro arrivo in Egitto. La vita delle consorelle pioniere dell’ordine, del quale fa parte il monastero di Luxor, non fu meno avventurosa della loro. Mentre nel Sei-Settecento gli studiosi d’Europa si scambiavano lettere faticosamente consegnate da diligenze e da corrieri a cavallo, oggi il passa parola viaggia sui fili del telefono, soprattutto in veste di dati. Prima di visitare il convento delle francescane di Luxor avevo chiesto qualche notizia su di loro all’amico, che ringrazio, Sandro Manzoni1, nato in Egitto, che oggi vive a Cologny, in Svizzera. A un certo punto le ricerche sono come le olive o i lupini: una tira l’altra … e non si sa dove si finisce! Questo scritto non è una storia completa della fondazione e dello sviluppo del monastero di Clot Bey del Cairo attraverso l’Ottocento, peraltro pubblicata in altri volumi. Sono dei cenni frutto delle mie visite del maggio 2016, dei colloqui con la madre Provinciale, suor Clara Caramagno, e mie impressioni scaturite dalla lettura del libro in bibliografia. Ho riportato solo dei passi che mi sono apparsi più interessanti e curiosi da un punto di vista laico. Osservando la mappa del centro storico del Cairo mi era sembrato più facile trovare questo monastero in via Darb el Riache, invece all’atto pratico il dedalo di viuzze molto affollato confonde anche i tassisti.

Andrea Carlo Ferrari, arcivescovo 4 del capoluogo lombardo dal 1894 al 1921, che visitò tutte le parrocchie per ben quattro volte. Il periodo dell’inizio del ’900 è un tempo di ripresa della vita religiosa nella città, dopo le dicili 4 vicende dei secc. XVIII-XIX (soppressioni del giuseppinismo, della Rivoluzione Francese, dell’epoca napoleonica e di quella postrisorgimentale). Nella trattazione sono anche oerti un C. Pioppi panorama delle numerose attività sociali promosse da tali istituti religiosi, e la presentazione del contesto sociale, economico, politico ed ecclesiale della città. Congregazioni e istituti religiosi a Milano Carlo Pioppi, sacerdote, nato a Roma nel 1964. Dopo la maturità classica ha conseguito la laurea in scienze politiche a Milano, quindi la licenza in teologia dogmatica a Roma, il titolo durante l’episcopato di archivista-paleografo presso la Scuola Vaticana di Paleograa, Diplomatica e Archivistica; durante l’episcopato del cardinal Ferrari (1894-1921) dopo un dottorato in storia della teologia, ha anche conseguito un D.E.A. in storia religiosa a del cardinal Ferrari Lione. Tucker, Ph.D. ABSTRACT Women, Resistance and the Creation of New Gendered Frontiers in the Making of Modern Libya, 1890-1980 examines the gendered transformation in the territory that became Libya from the late Ottoman period until after independence. Questioning the official version of Libyan nationalism that understood colonialism as a masculine, and at times violent, interaction between male Italian colonists, soldiers, and administrators and colonized men, I demonstrate the multi-faceted ways in which Libyan women interacted with the modernizing Ottoman, Italian and later British states, whether through the introduction of new forms of education, the policing of community boundaries, or through the military suppression of armed resistance. I found that European colonial governance dismantled existing local institutions including the Ottoman education system. Consequently, Italian policies undermined previous Ottoman attempts at modernizing reforms while distorting many of the existing social structures. My dissertation utilizes a variety of Arabic and Italian sources from archives in Italy, the US, and the UK.
