Project Approved: Supervising Professor: Jennifer Engler, MFA Department of Theatre Penny Maas, MFA Department of Theatre Sarah Newton, MFA Department of Dance Franken iii ABSTRACT This project analyzes the creative process of choreographing a musical; specifically, my journey within my debut as the sole choreographer of Sister Act! with Theatre TCU. I will describe my journey to becoming a choreographer, challenges and surprises I faced, problem solving tactics I used, and an analysis of the final outcome. I’ll share details from the casting process, rehearsals, production meetings, choreography sessions, and actual performances. Through this journey, I have learned more about myself and how to create and communicate artistic vision, as well as methods to use choreography as a tool to enhance storytelling. The account being shared must always be the priority for storytellers. Collaboration is key, and having the opportunity to work with the professional artists widened my perspective to the possibilities for creative expression and strategies to generating meaningful works of high quality entertainment. April 2017 -- SK Films, an award-winning producer and distributor of natural history entertainment, and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, the acclaimed film production unit of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, announced today the IMAX/Giant Screen film AMAZON ADVENTURE will launch on April 18, 2017 at the World Premiere event at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. The film traces the extraordinary journey of naturalist and explorer Henry Walter Bates - the most influential scientist you’ve never heard of – who provided “the beautiful proof” to Charles Darwin for his then controversial theory of natural selection, the scientific explanation for the development of life on Earth. As a young man, Bates risked his life for science during his 11-year expedition into the Amazon rainforest. AMAZON ADVENTURE is a compelling detective story of peril, perseverance and, ultimately, success, drawing audiences into the fascinating world of animal mimicry, the astonishing phenomenon where one animal adopts the look of another, gaining an advantage to survive. "The Giant Screen is the ideal format to take audiences to places that they might not normally go and to see amazing creatures they might not normally see,” said Executive Producer Jonathan Barker, CEO of SK Films.

Christian Wessely Elijah Siegler, Coen. Framing Religion in Amoral Order Baylor University Press, 2016 I would hardly seem the most likely candidate to review a book on the Coen brothers. I have not seen all of their films, and the ones I saw … well, either I did not understand them or they are really as shallow as I thought them to be. With one exception: I did enjoy O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). And I like A Serious Man (2009). So, two exceptions. And, of course, True Grit (2010) – so, all in all three exceptions1 … come to think of it, there are more that have stuck in my mind in a positive way, obfuscated by Barton Fink (1991) or Burn After Reading (2008). Therefore, I was curious wheth- er Elijah Siegler’s edited collection would change my view on the Coens. Do You Think You're What They Say You Are? Reflections on Jesus Christ Superstar Abstract Jesus Christ Superstar (dir. Norman Jewison, 1973) is a hybrid which, though influenced yb Jesus films, also transcends them. Its rock opera format and its focus on Holy Week make it congenial to the adaptation of the Gospels and its characterization of a plausible, non-stereotypical Jesus capable of change sets it apart from the traditional films and aligns it with The Last Temptation of Christ and Jesus of Montreal. It uses its depiction of Jesus as a means not of reverence but of interrogation, asking him questions by placing him in a context full of overtones of the culture of the early 1970s, English-speaking West, attempting to understand him by converting him into a pop-idol, with adoring groupies among whom Jesus struggles, out of context, in an alien culture that ultimately crushes him, crucifies him and leaves him behind.

Although individual characters and their trajectories will be separately introduced, what will gradually become apparent is that three levels of agency—the individuals, their aggregates and relations (the ‘network’ that their interactions create), and the film narration itself—are in this film constituted through a mutual causal mechanism, characteristic of complex systems.
