Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger ~Super Hero Getter~ the Showboat Pirates of Gokaiger
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger ~Super Hero Getter~ The showboat pirates of Gokaiger Space Empire Zangyack, a powerful interstellar empire, made of all manner of alien forces have conquered many planets. Just days after the Goseiger’s victory over their final foe, countless Zangyack battleships came to earth bombarding human cities. Hundreds of gormin troops led by Sugormin commanders fought on the ground. How long the war lasted is unknown, what is known is that before the final confrontation a battle between hundreds of mecha and the Zangyack fleet occurred. Many of the mecha were destroyed during this battle. The Goseigers as the 34th sentai team went to war with Zangyack, but suffered greatly their mache crippled or destroyed. They were forced to flee, hiding in a forest. Just when all hope was lost and the forces of Zangyack had cornered them, they were saved by Akaranger the first red ranger. He had begun mobilising all 33 previous teams with Big One of JACKQ as his right hand. Fighting their way past enemy lines, the Goseigers, Akared, Big One and several other legendary sentai made it to the main sentai force. Together all 34 sentai teams went to battle with Zangyack, eventually combining all of their powers in one final attack. Shortly afterward the Sentai awakened and, though they had one, they all lost their ability to transform. Their powers were scattered across space in the form of Ranger Keys. Knowing they did the right thing the sentai went their separate ways and carried on with their lives. Yet AkaRed, the embodiment of all red rangers, sought to remedy this. -

An Analysis of Ms. Marvel's Kamala Khan
The “Worlding” of the Muslim Superheroine: An Analysis of Ms. Marvel’s Kamala Khan SAFIYYA HOSEIN Muslim women have been a source of speculation for Western audiences from time immemorial. At first eroticized in harem paintings, they later became the quintessential image of subservience: a weakling to be pitied and rescued from savage Brown men. Current depictions of Muslim women have ranged from the oppressed archetype in mainstream media with films such as The Stoning of Soraya M (2008) to comedic veiled characters in shows like Little Mosque on the Prairie (2012). One segment of media that has recently offered promising attempts for destabilizing their image has been comics and graphic novels which have published graphic memoirs that speak to the complexity of Muslim identity as well as superhero comics that offer a range of Muslim characters from a variety of cultures with different levels of religiosity. This paper explores the emergence of the Muslim superheroine in comic books by analyzing the most developed Muslimah (Muslim female) superhero: the rebooted Ms. Marvel superhero, Kamala Khan, from the Marvel Comics Ms. Marvel series. The analysis illustrates how the reconfiguration of the Muslim female archetype through the “worlding” of the Muslim superhero continues to perpetuate an imperialist agenda for the Third World. This paper uses Gayatri Spivak’s “worlding” which examines the “othered” natives and the global South as defined through Eurocentric terms by imperialists and colonizers. By interrogating Kamala’s representation, I argue that her portrayal as a “moderate” Muslim superheroine with Western progressive values can have the effect of reinforcing Safiyya Hosein is a Ph.D. -

The result of World War II primarily influences this. Nevertheless, recently there have been several Super Hero Series that depicted the minorities as the main villain. The purpose of this study is to present the issue of minorities in the Japanese Super Hero Series. Through the cultural study approach, this paper will discuss how minorities being represented by the antagonist character, Roimudde. This study had two aims (i) how does the Roimudde representing the minorities in Japanese society. (ii) how the characters Heart and Medic represent that minorities were victims of society. We found that the Roimudde was a different race from humans representing the minorities through content analysis of the Children television series Kamen Rider Drive. At the same time, Heart and Medic have painful memories that made them grudge toward humanity. It is also mean that this film was recognizing the minorities as the victim of prejudice by society. It is necessary to throw all prejudice to other people just because of physical or race differences to enter transnational society without prejudice. -

Her Own Heroine: Feminism and Diversity in the Comic Book Industry
Panel Title: Her Own Heroine: Feminism and Diversity in the Comic Book Industry Moderator: Patricia B. Worrall, Ph.D. English Department University of North Georgia [email protected] First Speaker: Veronica Harris English Department University of North Georgia [email protected] Title: “Breaking the Mold: Ororo Munroe and the Entertainment Industry” Proposal: Throughout the history and development of comic books, there has been adaptations of the characters to different media venues. Storm, or Ororo Munroe, is no exception. She comes from the African country of Kenya born to a native woman and American man. Her mother comes from a line of priestesses said to hold mystical powers to protect their tribes. At a young age, she experiences a tragic plane crashing into her home, which traps her under her mother’s body and rubble. She develops claustrophobic tendencies, which awaken her powers. Later in life, she comes to teach at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, i.e. mutants, and becomes one of the most powerful X-Men. Representations of Storm occur in many different forms of visual media, such as movies and comics. However, the medium of film limits the development of her backstory and heritage because of the film industry’s shift to an emphasis and focus on white males taken from comics. This shift has resulted in restricting and restraining women of color. On the other hand, cartoons, such as Wolverine and the X-Men and X-Men Evolution , do provide some space for her. Although even in comic space restricts and restrains women of color and becomes analogous to Storm’s claustrophobia. -

The five core members of the Zeo Team — Kat Hillard, Tanya Sloan, Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park, and Tommy Oliver — leap into battle using new decks and unique Zeo Ranger abilities. COMPONENTS • 5 Ranger Figures • 50 Combat Cards • 5 Character Cards • 6 Zord Cards INTEGRATING EXPANSION CONTENT This expansion adds new Ranger and Zord options. Follow the rules in the back of the base game rulebook (p. 17–18) for adding the new content to your games. Each of these new Rangers has a new ability, many of which introduce new gameplay effects. The new abilities, and how they function, are described on the character cards. ATTACHING ENERGY TOKENS This expansion introduces effects that allow you to attach energy tokens to enemy cards. When you attach an energy token to an enemy card, take it from the supply and place it near that enemy card. An enemy card can have any number of energy tokens attached to it. Energy tokens attached to enemy cards are not considered to be “on” those cards for the purposes of other effects (e.g., Lord Drakkon’s Stolen Power). When an enemy is defeated, any energy tokens attached to it are immediately added to the shared energy pool. At the end of each battle, the energy tokens attached to any enemy cards still in play are returned to the supply. I didn‘t want to make too much noise, but here we go. [inhales loudly through mouth] Griffin: That‘s perfect! That‘s how they say to do it! Now, hold it for seven minutes. Like Harry Houdini. And we‘ll wait. There‘s gonna be seven minute—and maybe I'll play some gentle, Brian Eno music. And then you'll know when to exhale. Just kidding. Do it now. We don‘t want to be responsible for people‘s… accidental podcast asphixi… asphixi… that‘s a tough word. This is Wonderful. Rachel: [laughs] Griffin: How are you doing, babe? Rachel: I'm pretty good. Griffin: I'm glad to hear it. Rachel: Getting into kind of a rhythm, I think. Griffin: Good, good. Um… I'm—I'm not—this has been a weird—I feel like this has been a weird week. I feel like this week, uh, is where it‘s just kind of—it‘s hitting hard for a lot of—maybe it‘s the one month mark. Rachel: Because you are a man that has worked from home for a long time.
